A Troubled Mind

Ringo Imagine:

A great ball of light captured perfectly in the light blue-painted sky. Lush green grass so soft to the touch, almost like a cozy little bed. The breeze, so warm and summery and fresh with the wonderfully scented roses lingering in the air. Beautiful.

But none of these aspects of nature could distract Dillan from his thoughts.

He lay in the grass in the backyard of his home with his fiancé, Ringo, holding his hand with such tenderness. He gazed at the sky, a troubled look across his features.

He loved Ringo so much, and he knew Ringo loved him too. But how would he feel if he knew what Dillan was hiding?

"Beautiful day, isn't it?" Dillan spoke up to break the silence.

"Mhm," Ringo hummed. "And it's so much better too... because you're with me."

Normally, a cheesy line like that would've floored Dillan. He'd be a blushing mess. But not today.

Now that he and Ringo were engaged... how much longer could he keep this to himself?

With a stifled groan, Dillan turned away from Ringo in his side, releasing his hand from his. He fiddled with his fingers anxiously.

"Dillan?" Ringo said, confused. He leaned towards Dillan and placed a calloused hand on his shoulder. "Dillan, babe? Are you alright?"

"M'fine," Dillan mumbled, refusing to meet his partner's eyes.

"No, I can tell something's bothering you," Ringo said gently. "Dear love, is there something you want to tell me? You know you can say anything."

"No I can't."

"Well, of course you can!"

"No, Ringo, I can't," Dillan repeated, sitting up and burying his face in his hands.

He heard Ringo shuffle around in his seat. "Dillan?"

Swallowing thickly, he said, "I'm... scared to tell you. I don't know... what you'll say or how you'll feel."

"Darling, you can tell me," Ringo cooed. "You can tell me that you robbed a bank the other day and I'll still love you. You can say you kill cats for a living and I'll love you. No matter what it is, I'll always love you."

With a shaky breath, Dillan whispered, "Would you still love me if I told you I'm transgender?"

There was a short string of silence. "Dillan?"

"Yeah," Dillan muttered. "You're engaged to a transgender man. And the reason I never told you before... I was afraid that you'd be embarrassed, that you'd stop loving me. I mean, everybody I've ever told this to, they turned away from me. I just didn't know how to-"

He was interrupted by a hand under his chin. He glanced up, where his eyes met with Ringo's blue ones. Ringo leaned forward and pressed his lips gently against Dillan's, kissing him tenderly and passionately.

When they parted away, Ringo smiled lovingly at Dillan. "To hell with them," he said softly. "They don't understand. They're minds are the size of an ant." Dillan laughed quietly. "Dillan, this doesn't change how I feel about you. Goodness, that's what you were scared of telling me? I thought you were going to say there was someone else or something."

"Of course not!" Dillan gasped. "You're the only one for me." He let out a long, relieved sigh. "So you... you still love me?"

Ringo chuckled warmly. "Dillan, my love, I can honestly say that I love you even more than I did before. And I can't wait for our wedding day to come."

The weight of the world lifted off Dillan's shoulders, replaced with overwhelming love for his future husband. They laid back down on the grass, where they snuggled close together and watched the birds fly freely across the cloudless sky.

Requested by @Ringos_Starr_Boy! Hope you enjoyed it! I've never written something like this before so I hope it was okay! :)
