Casbah Coffee Club Aug.29, '59, The Quarrymen 1st played The Casbah. Truly, the place it all began. Paul McCartney stated in a 2007 press release that, "I think it's a good idea to let people know about the Casbah. They know about the Cavern, they know about some of those things, but the Casbah was the place where all that started.

Roag Best: "Today I'm not going to mention the Magical History Museum (just have). Today I'm going to mention the Casbah Coffee Club because it was fifty nine years ago today fledgling musicians John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ken Brown took to the stage on the opening night in a newly formed Quarrymen playing Liverpool's first rock and roll club. Sitting in the audience was my brother Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe. Five of the people mentioned here became the original members in the greatest band of all time.
