Toad in the Hole.
Sausage in Yorkshire Pudding. 

Traditionally it's long sausages only  I am just trying it differently with chopped for the kids and better cooking of the batter.

This is a really cheap tummy filling recipe!

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup (180g) all-purpose flour (plain flour)

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pinch freshly ground black pepper

3 large eggs, beaten

1 1/2 cup (350ml) milk OR half milk half water

Vegetable oil half cup or so for the pan/dish.

Sausages/ Bangers pre- cooked

Method-

Make the batter:
In a large bowl, place the flour with the salt and a pinch of pepper. Make a well in the center of the flour. Pour in the eggs,  half of the milk into the well and whisk into the flour until smooth. Stir in remaining milk. Cover and let stand 30 minutes.

Pre-heat Oven.
You need a HOT oven. Mines 260°c. You probably @450-500°F.

Preheat the baking dish:
Coat the bottom and sides of an 8 x 12-inch or 9 x 9-inch ceramic or metal casserole dish with vegetable oil.
Put the well oiled dish in the oven to heat to smoking or close to it!

Carefully remove from oven pour in a portion of batter. Lay in your cooked sausages then pour in rest of batter OR dump it in how you like haha.

Bake at 260°c/ 500°F on top shelf for about 20 to 30 minutes or until the batter is risen and golden. I sometimes drop to lower shelf and lower tem to Moderate to gt the bottom cooked.

Serve with the yummiest BROWN meat  gravy you can find.

Leftover Batter !?!?! Don't throw it out!

The batter also makes CREPES!

Place a tablespoon of oil in hot frying pan. Roll it around then drain excess to a mug (I keep a tablespoon or 2 in mug then use this as I go making a pile of crepes)

Tip frying pan on an angle pour batter in and swirl to coat bottom. These are thin, so will cook quickly.

Flip, cook and serve.

Serve with lemon juice and Sugar. Nutella. Icecream and Nutella or Icecream with lemon juice and sugar. You get the idea.
