6 - The Kiss
After Thea's call to Tony, her mind began to calm down-eventually causing her to fall asleep on her bed. However, during her sleep, she dreamt.
Thea walked down the empty and dark hallway, using her hands to feel her way around. While gliding her hand across the wall next to her, she felt a protrusion on it in the shape of a handle. Turning it, she felt the cold gust of air blow past her-causing her hair to rush from her face. In the room was a small light-blinking in the darkness- it showed small glimpses of the dark room. It was a plain room with blank walls. Only the single source of light was in it. Thea brushed past the cold barrier of the room and reached the blinking light. She stretched her hand out and was about to grasp the strange looking stone but was interrupted by the sound of the large door slamming shut. Thea whipped her head around to see the door closed. The cold air in the room seemed to brush past her again and in the blinking light, she could see her breath. Thea puffed out a breath and stared at it, wondering where the chill was coming from.
However, the light stopped it's blinking. Thea peered down where the stone once was, only to see it was missing. Instead, in its place was a large metal table. Thea felt out the table in the darkness, feeling heavy metal cuffs and chains. Suddenly, bright lights attacked Thea's eyes, lighting up the entire room. Without her knowing, she was struggling on the same metal table. She writhed on the metal table, her wrists bound to the table with chains and cuffs. A large metal cuff was choking her. She coughed out and rapidly stared around the room. Her eyes landed on a dark figure in the corner of the room.
"Thea..." A voice said with malice in their voice.
Thea whimpered as she realized who it was in the room with her. The same person that made her life a living hell when she was kidnapped. The same person who injected her with many different serums and liquids. The woman that "made Thea understand her full potential." That woman was Doctor Quinn Truman. The infamous clacking of her heels as they took steps along the ground made Thea afraid.
In the real world, however, Thea was asleep on her bed. Her body tense and shaking as her dreams kept going on. Her skin was dripping with sweat, wetting the sheets under her. Thea's hands formed a fist and her nails punctured her palms from the pressure exerted. In her fists, a slow stream of purple mist flowed out. Her teeth ground down on themselves as more powers grew from her hands. Slowly, small items around her room began to shake.
It first started with her phone, laying on the table next to her, then it grew to the TV on the stand. Finally, it seemed like all the items in her apartment were shaking violently. Her powers, which were attached close to her hands, were now stretching out throughout her apartment.
Thea clenched her eyes tight as Dr. Truman inched closer towards her. Her body was tense and her hands contracted into fists, with her powers forming out of them.
"Go away!" Thea roared at Truman.
Her powers filled the small room she was being kept in. The mist surrounded Truman and Thea as it kept pouring out in huge quantities. Truman walked forward as she was not affected by it.
"Now, now Thea. That's no way to talk."
The purple mist spread throughout the building, leaking into other apartments and other bedrooms. Peter's bedroom included. Not only was Thea's room shaking, but it now shook the entire apartment building. Objects fell off the shelves and pictures off the walls. Peter woke up to the shaking of the building, his pictures falling off his walls and loud thuds of objects falling to the floor. What kept him awake was the familiar purple mist that he came accustomed to. Peter quickly shot out of his room, running to Thea's apartment in his pajamas. May, stood at the end of the hallway in a robe and asked Peter, "Where are you going? And what is this purple gas?"
"I'm going to check on Thea! Stay here and be safe!"
"Peter Benjamin Parker you stay in this apartment!" May shouted at Peter as he left the apartment.
Peter struggled to get into Thea's apartment from all the shaking, but with the spare key she had given him, he managed to get in.
In her apartment, the purple mist had risen to the ceiling, making it difficult for him to see. He felt his way through the apartment, feeling the walls in order to find Thea. Hidden underneath all her powers, Thea was sleeping on her bed, that was violently shaking. Peter stammered to her bedside and collapsed next to it. His hand reached out for her closed fist, his other hand laid against her face that was strewn about in stress. His hand became sticky with her sweat as he pushed her hair out of her face.
"Thea," Peter spoke out softly at first, his voice being drowned out by the shaking building. "Thea!" he tried again but louder. His attempt went unnoticed by her as her fists stayed clenched. His hand forced its way into her tight fist, lacing his fingers with hers.
"Thea!" Peter shouted one last time.
Suddenly, Thea shot up in her bed and tackled Peter to the floor, her eyes wide in terror and anger. She held a hand to his throat as Peter's face turned red.
"Th-ea," Peter struggled out.
Thea blinked, her mind calm. Her eyes widened in realization as she saw what had happened. "Oh my god, oh my god, shit!" Thea shouted out. She clambered off of Peter's body, Peter coughing as she released him. The shaking ceased as soon as she got off of Peter. Her eyes looked around the room, mist purple surrounding her. Her face was strewn with distress. She reached her hands out into the air and pulled her powers back. She tried her best to condense it all into a tight ball of purple mist before she absorbed it back into her palms.
Thea coughed out and groaned in pain and frustration. She crawled to the edge of her bed and held her head in her hands and curled up. She felt Peter's hand touch her on her shoulder. Peter gasped slightly as his hand was pulled away from her, purple mist forcing him away. The strange thing was that Thea never moved, her hands never left her head. The mist did this without her needing to move an inch. Thea lifted her head slowly to see Peter staring at her strangely.
"Pete... Just leave, I'm going to hurt you," Thea spoke faintly. "And I don't want to hurt you." Thea pulled her knees into her chest and rested her forehead against them. "Things are happening to me that I don't understand. Like... I shouldn't have been able to do that... I haven't before, so why now? I can't just move things without doing a single thing!! That's-that's just impossible!"
Peter half smiled at Thea before he sighed out. "I know you won't hurt me Thea."
Thea sniffled, it being muffled by her chest. Her hair fell around her face like vines growing in a jungle. She lifted her head to see Peter scooting towards her body. With a sigh, he leaned against the bed frame, right next to Thea.
"How do you know that? I could lose control one night and take the whole apartment building down, I should just go to the Avengers Estate. I mean... you saw what I did to Truman."
Peter closed his eyes in contemplation. He too pulled his knees into his chest and he placed his hand on Thea's. Her hands twitched slightly when he did this, not expecting the touch. "I know you won't hurt me because I trust you."
"How do you know that you trust me?" Thea whispered out. Her eyes stared out into the room, not focusing on Peter's face.
Peter held his breath for a second, contemplating whether or not to do this. "Because... I can do this."
Peter's hand moved from Thea's hand to her cheek, gently guiding it. He turned her head to look at him, her eyes were still red and wet from crying. Slowly, Peter leaned in close to Thea's face. His lips closing in on her as his eyes closed. Thea's eyes widened at seeing Peter doing this but gradually closed her eyes as Peter came near. Gingerly, their lips met in the middle. Peter's chapped lips met Thea's more supple ones. It wasn't anything major, just a small kiss. But it felt like the whole world to the both of them. Peter's hand remained on her face, his thumb wiping away a stray tear that was lingering on her cheek. His other hand rested on her side, rubbing her waist tenderly. Thea's hands rested on Peter's shoulders as they kissed.
Their hands remained in their same position as the pair broke apart. Thea's cheeks flushed slightly at the sight of Peter staring into her eyes.
"That's how I know I trust you."

The next morning, Thea and Peter met up with Ned on the way to school. Thea, who had caused an earthquake during the night due to nightmares, was still defensive. However, the kiss that occurred between Peter and Thea was a memory she would never forget. Last night was the worst her PTSD dreams had ever been. She had previously shaken up an item or two in her apartment, but never on a scale like that before. She also learned something new about herself last night. Her powers could be used by sheer willpower and she didn't have to move a muscle. This terrified her. Thea wished what Truman and the other voice said to her weren't true, but it seemed like it was. Not only could she erase a whole human from existence, but she had new variations showing up every day.
Thea walked down the streets of Queen's in despair. Her eyes glazed over the rumble and dust that covered the streets, most likely an effect of her earthquake. She listened to Peter and Ned's conversation as she eyed her surroundings.
"Did you guys feel that earthquake last night?! It was huge! I could feel it over by my house," Ned spoke with enthusiasm.
Thea winced slightly at this, her eyes closing momentarily. She looked from her surroundings to see the pair of teenage boys looking at each other. Thea could see a defensive and worried look in Peter's eyes as he heard Ned say this. His eyes washed over Thea's and then back to Ned before he sighed out.
Thea spoke out softly to Ned, "That was me..."
Ned stopped in his place and pivoted to look straight at Thea, "That was you?!" Ned looked over at Peter, who shook his head. Ned cleared his throat. "How did you even get your powers, Peter?"
Peter sighed out, "I got bitten by a radioactive spider a couple of years ago."
"You got bit by a spider? Can it bite me? Well, it probably would've hurt, right? You know what? Whatever. Even if it did hurt, I'd let it bite me. Maybe. How much did it hurt?"
"The spider's dead, Ned," Peter spoke with distaste in his mouth. Peter cuts the conversation short, allowing no room for further discussion on the subject. Ned shrugs and looks ahead. His eyes go wide at the sight of Delmar's.
"Whoa."
Thea looked up to see Delmar's, the same sandwich shop she went to yesterday, in ruins. Police cars and caution tape were scattered by the shop. Both Peter and Ned stopped short, examining the shop. Thea's mind wandered as she thought she did this over the night.
"You were here?" Ned asked Peter. Peter's eyes gazed warily over the policemen guarding the shop.
"Yeah."
"You could have died," Ned said, his face becoming completely serious.
Thea eyed Peter and tapped his shoulder. "What does he mean? You were here?"
Peter looked down at Thea and cleared his throat. He refused to look back at her. "I mean, yea... after you left I saw some people robbing the atm across the street. So... I went and stopped them."
Thea's eyes squinted at him and she spoke with slight malice in his voice. "So how did this happen?" She gestured to the damaged building across the street.
"They had these weird weapons! And it wasn't my fault!"
Thea sighed out, her head dropping down to the ground. Thea had always had a short temper. She got angry when she was lied to, but always lied to others without a thought. A hypocrite, one could say. But this day, Thea took in a deep breath and said, "It's fine... I'm just glad you're okay Pete." She looked up at him with a smile evident on her face.
Ned looked between the two of them and took a single step back, giving them space. Peter looked down at Thea and smiled sweetly back.
"Do you lay eggs?"
Thea stared at Ned with a huge smile on her face. Peter laughs at the absurd and anticlimactic suggestion.
"I wish!" Thea laughed.
