3 - The School Day
Thea, Ned, and Peter all walked through the halls as they all glanced around at the vast number of students before them. The bell had rung just seconds prior, letting the group know to head to their class. Ned, unfortunately, did not have the same class as Peter and Thea. Ned was stuck with English first thing, whereas Thea and Peter had physics. The pair headed toward Ms. Warren's class. She would be one of their many science teachers for the year.
Inside the classroom was a mixture of people. Teens from different religious and ethnic backgrounds were strewn about the class. Thea glanced around at the class, trying to decipher where she and Peter would sit. In the middle of the classroom, right next to the window was two open seats. With haste in her step, Thea booked it to the two seats. Sitting down quickly, she placed her backpack down on the seat next to her in order to save Peter a seat.
Peter, who stayed by the door, watched as Thea aggressively pushed her way through the crowd in order to get seats. He stood there with a smile on his face as Thea waved him over to her. Peter managed to squeeze his way through the other students and sat himself down next to Thea as she moved the backpack away from the seat.
The sudden ringing of the bell over the loudspeaker let Thea know that the class had started. The teacher, Ms. Warren introduced herself to the class quickly. She was a middle-aged Latino woman with a friendly attitude. Soon enough, Ms. Warren started an actual educational class and started with linear acceleration.
Sitting in front of Thea and Peter was none other than Flash Thompson. Thea rolled her eyes in disgust as Flash turned around and winked at Thea. Peter, who was sitting right next to Thea, saw this and glared angrily at him.
"So how do we calculate linear acceleration between points A and B?" Ms. Warren asked the class. Thea was already lost with this concept, not understanding science very well even though her father was the genius Tony Stark. Thea looked around the room before her eyes were caught on Peter, who had pulled out his laptop and was watching a video on Spider-Man. He was hunched over on the desk and didn't even notice Thea watching him silently.
"Flash." Ms. Warren called out.
"It's the product of sine of the angle and gravity divided by the mass," Flash answered quickly, his arm now lowering to the table. He leaned back confidently as he waited for Ms. Warren's approval.
"Nope," the teacher called him quickly. Thea's eyes looked over the room in front of her before Ms. Warren called out, "Peter! You still with us?" Peter shot up from his place on the desk as he stared at the board in front of the class. Thea covered her mouth slightly in order to hide her smile.
"Uh, uh, yeah, yeah," Peter quickly answered. He shut his laptop with a single hand as he looked over the board for the answer. "Uh...mass cancels out, so it's just gravity times sine," Peter spoke with a pen in his hand, twirling it as he answered. Thea gazed at Peter, his flustered state making him appear more child-like and adorable. Peter, in return, looked back at Thea and grinned.
"Right. See, Flash, being the fastest isn't always the best if you are wrong," Ms. Warren stated as the class laughed out at Flash. Peter hunched back over the desk as Flash turned around to glare at him, whispering, "You're dead."
Thea creased her eyebrows together at Flash's cheap threat before she laid her head down on the table next to Peter's. She giggled quietly as Peter looked at her with wide eyes. "Do you see what I deal with?" Peter said.
"Cause Flash is so scary," Thea smiled.
Peter turned around to see the clock, only to have the bell ring.

Soon enough, it was already time for lunch after more classes went by quickly. Peter, Ned, and Thea all hung out together at a table in the back of the cafeteria. In the front, an attractive teen girl was hanging a homecoming sign on a wall.
"What's a homecoming?" Thea asked curiously. Her lips formed a frown as her eyes glanced over the large banner that was being hung. Ned, who was too busy looking over the girl hanging the poster, failed to hear what Thea asked. Peter, however, heard Thea loud and clear. "You don't know what homecoming is?" Peter asked her.
"No...is it like some kind of dance?" Thea asked Peter, staring at him. Peter looked over at Thea in shock before he stated, "Yeah, that's exactly it."
"Oh," Thea spoke out softly. A few moments of silence took over before Thea asked out quietly, "Have you ever been to one?"
But before Peter had a chance to answer, Ned spoke out loudly, "Did Liz get a new top?" Thea looked at Ned with a strange and confused expression on her face. Thea nodded her head in the direction of the girl hanging up the banner and asked, "Her?"
"Yeah," Ned said with adoration in his eyes.
"Well, let me just go ask her," Thea said and she placed her hands on the table, pushing herself up. But before Peter or Ned had a chance to protest, Thea was already making her way over to Liz. Maneuvering her way through the cafeteria, Thea made her way over to the wall where Liz was.
Li, who was to busy hanging up the banner, failed to notice the brown haired girl looking up at her. "Excuse me?" Thea called out to Liz. "You're Liz right?" Liz looked down to see Thea staring right up at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Yep, that's me," Liz answered cheerfully as she tacked the side of the banner to the wall. Carefully, she stepped down the ladder she was on and placed her hands behind her back, waiting for Thea to say something.
Back over by the table with the boys, they were discussing what they thought Thea was saying.
"What do you think she's asking her?" Ned questioned Peter. Peter was staring straight at Thea, who was still laughing and smiling at Liz. Although Peter could hear what Liz and Thea were saying, he went along with Ned's shenanigans. Ever since Peter got bitten by the radioactive spider, his senses were dialed to ten and he could hear, see, smell, and react better and faster. However, the loud noises and talking of the cafeteria made it difficult for Peter to fully understand what Thea was saying.
"I think she's saying, 'Wow Liz, what a great banner, I love your shoes. By the way, would you be willing to hang out with us for the rest of your life?' Don't you think?" Ned asked Peter with a completely serious expression of his face.
Peter scoffed as he smiled at Ned, "You know, something is telling me that that isn't what Thea is saying."
Ned squinted his eyes at Peter before he said, "Ok, what about, 'Oh I just love Peter so much! He's so cute and I could just kiss him every day!'" Ned put on a fake, high-pitched girl voice to seal the deal. Peter turned around and stared at Ned in disbelief. Peter opened his mouth and gaped in shock and was about to speak when a sudden voice interrupted him.
"You guys really are losers."
Both Peter and Ned pivoted around to see a tomboy-like girl sitting at the end of their table with a book in her lap. Ned furrowed his eyebrows and questioned her, "But then why do you sit with us?"
Michelle sighed out saying, "Because I don't have any friends."
Peter turned back around to see Thea walking back to the table with a huge smile on her face. A slight skip was present in her step as she made her way to sit down across from the boys.
"What got you all happy for?" Peter asked, his eyebrows creased down to show his interest. His gaze trailed Thea's relaxed body as she clasped her hands together and rested them on the table.
"Oh, you know, just the usual stuff like getting invited to Liz's party." Thea smiled widely as she watched Peter and Ned's reaction to her statement. Ned, especially, looked shocked at this as he nudged Peter's side with an elbow.
"See! I told you Thea would get us places!" Ned exclaimed, his voice becoming increasingly louder with every sentence he spoke. "So," Ned directed his attention to Thea, "When is the party and how formal do we need to dress?"
Thea's giddy expression soon changed into one of worry. Her gaze looked around the room, never looking fully at Ned. "I-um, I never asked Liz about bringing you guys because I was too happy with her inviting me."
Ned's head soon fell to the desk in disappointment and groaned out loud. Peter, who was just watching Ned, now spoke out, "You know it's fine, it's just a party." Ned then shot his head up and stared at Peter in utter disbelief. His lips curled slightly as he said, "Just a party?"

The school day went by in a flash, new classes with new faces showed Thea how vast this school really was. The last period Thea had was History, the same class that Ned and Peter had. Thea, from across the room, could notice that Peter was anxious to get out of there. His leg was bouncing on the ground and he looked back at the clock every few minutes.
As soon as the bell rang, signaling the end of school, Peter bolted out of his seat. He practically ran out of the school, Thea trailing behind him. "Peter! Slow down!" Thea yelled from behind him. Peter looked over his shoulder and smiled as he kept running towards the door.
Peter shoved the metal swinging doors open and looked back behind Thea, making sure no one was watching or following them. Peter ran down to the tall fence where he looked at Thea and smiled before he leaped over the fence. Thea gasped in shock before she shouted. "Peter!" Peter landed on the other side of the fence, waiting for Thea to join him.
Thea rolled her eyes as she calmly walked a couple of steps to the side and walked out of the gate that was left wide open. "You are so weird, you know that right?" Thea laughed at Peter. Thea took a few long strides to reach Peter before they set off.
"So, where are we going?"
"We are going to Delmar's," Peter spoke out looking at Thea with a smile on his face. Peter and Thea walked across the busy street traffic and continued on their trek to the familiar sandwich shop.
