2- The New School Year

The start of a new school year was strange for Thea. Now that she had discovered who Spider-Man was it was not necessary for her to attend school. She previously told herself that as soon as the mission was over she would ditch that school. But now that she has met so many great people at the school, she couldn't bear to see them go.

A knocking sounded on her apartment door, a familiar style of knocking that she had grown to remember. With a smile present on her face, Thea opened the door to see Peter Parker smiling back at her.

"Hey there Pete." Thea smiled sweetly. She pulled Peter into a close embrace with a single arm. "Ready for the first day of the school year?" Thea turned around to grab her backpack with was set on the countertop near her. She effortlessly swung the bag on as she heard Peter say.

"As ready as I'll ever be." Peter took a step backward into the hall, waiting for Thea to follow suit. "I'm not to keen on being one of the loser's again this year."

Thea grabbed her keys from her pocket and locked the front door behind her as she said, "Well, hopefully with me here we will be able to change that." She said this with a wink as she tossed Peter something. Peter, who saw this coming, caught it with one hand and raised an eyebrow at what it was.

"A key?"

Thea began to walk down the hall, toward the stairs as she yelled back at Peter, "As long as we are friends I don't see a problem with you having a key to my apartment." Peter scoffed out in disbelief at Thea. With a smile present on his face, Peter yelled back jokingly, "Well maybe we shouldn't be friends!"

Thea took a short pause on her way to the end of the hall and pivoted around to see Peter catching up to her. "What are you insinuating Parker? There's a lot that could be taken from that sentence." Peter tilted his head in a confused matter, but in one rapid change, his eyes grew wide as his skin changed to a slight red hue.

"I-I didn't mean, well maybe - no I didn't!" Peter stuttered out, his eyes refusing to look at Thea directly. Thea smirked and sighed out, "Man, oh well." She teased Peter with a wink. "What is that supposed to mean!?" Peter shouted out at Thea, who was already clicking the elevator button.

The soft ringing of the elevator let Thea know that it was ready to go down. And without looking behind her, she stepped back into the elevator and said. "Whatever you want it to." With a  swift movement, the elevator doors closed, leaving Peter in the hallway, with nothing but his thoughts.

With a muttered voice, Peter spoke out, "I swear that girl is going to be the end of me."

Luckily for Peter, Thea waited outside the apartment complex for him after she left him in the hallway. They both took the train that dropped them right outside the steps of Midtown. The train was packed with people and noisy. It held many different people from different walks of life, but stuck in the middle of it was Thea and Peter. Peter had one earbud in, listening to music-and one out-prepared to listen to Thea if she said anything.

It had been around two months since the fight at the airport in Germany, although with everything that had happened after, it felt like much longer. The school season had just started again and now in September, with a new grade in swing, Thea was prepared for a completely normal year.

"Hey, Pete, who are you texting?" Thea questioned. Peter had pulled out his phone and began typing on the small screen. Thea looked over at his screen with a raised eyebrow, but before she could glace at the screen, Peter pulled his phone away quickly. "Ah, it's no one," Peter spoke out quickly. Although Peter had just gotten done with some rather life-threatening events, he felt like he could have been doing more.

Thea, now not in the joking mood, spoke with a serious tone. "Come on Peter, you know you can't lie to me." She gripped the handle next to Peter's head, staring up slightly at him due to their tiny height difference.

Peter took a gulp of air and stared back at Thea's piercing eyes. Peter's phone, which was still in his hands, close to his chest was somehow ripped from him, now laying in Thea's hands. Peter looked down to see a residual purple mist floating around his arm. Peter didn't even notice Thea using her powers to take his phone.

With wide eyes, Peter whispered out loudly, "Thea!" However, she was too busy scrolling through his texts to notice him. On his phone were hundreds of text's to the same person, Happy Hogan. "Are you crazy?!" Peter said to Thea in a restrained voice. "You can't use your power's in public! You'll get caught!" Peter looked around at the crowded train, his eyes scanning for anyone that could have caught what Thea did.

"No, but are you crazy?! You've been texting Happy this whole time? Asking for missions, keeping an eye on me?" Thea shouted out. As soon as she said this, the train began to come to a stop, the brakes creating a familiar screeching sound.

Peter, clenched his teeth, trying not to spill out unnecessary words at Thea. He breathed in deeply through his nose as he tried to calm his nerves. He grabbed Thea's hand that held his phone and spoke out, "I'm only doing what I think is best for you." Peter looked down at Thea's eyes and spoke out sincerely, "Let's just forget this ever happened. You know I would never hurt you." As Peter said this, the train was slowly emptying out.

Thea stood there on the train for a second, thinking about what Peter had said to her before she abruptly turned around and walked off the train. But before she left she said a single sentence.

"I know."

Thea walked into the familiar building that was Midtown. The bustle of new and old faces stuck out to her. She squeezed through warm bodies of the other teenagers in order to find her locker. It was placed on the upper floor of the school so Thea walked up the stairs and found none other than Peter and Ned, by what she presumed was one of their lockers.

Ever since the incident with her kidnapping, Thea was much more cautious and wary around new people. Although her body had recovered, her mind was still handling the consequences of it. This, in turn, caused Thea to become much more volatile to those she knew. Peter had already dealt with much of this earlier in the month, when she had just gotten back from the base she was held captive at. However, Thea couldn't show any sign of anything being wrong around others, like Ned or Michelle. She could only grit her teeth and smile like nothing was wrong.

"Hey Pete, hey Ned!" Thea spoke out with a somewhat fake smile on her face. She knew sooner or later she would have to bite the bullet and apologize for everything she put Peter through, but she couldn't now with Ned around. The nerdy duo turned around at the sound of a familiar voice and a wave of happiness washed over Ned's face.

"Hey, Thea! It's been so long!" The chubby teen said with a smile on his face, in his hand was a Lego figure with two blue guns. Peter looked at Thea with a sad smile as she glanced at him before she quickly looked away.

The group of teens quickly told each other how their summer went as Peter rummaged through his locker. "You want to build it tonight," Ned, who was talking about a Lego set, asked Peter.

Peter slammed his locker with a hand as he replied, "No, I can't tonight. I've got the Stark-" Ned interrupted Peter's sentence, saying, "Mm-hm. Stark Internship." Peter confirmed this and Ned continued saying, "Always got that internship." Peter side glanced at Thea when he said this only to see Thea looking straight ahead with an expressionless face.

He cleared his throat and spoke out to Ned while scratching his head, "Yeah, well, hopefully soon it'll lead to a real job with them." Peter looked down at the ground before looking back up to see Thea looking straight at him.

"That would be so sweet," Ned said. Peter agreed with Ned as Ned continued on with a fake voice, "He'd be all 'Good job on those spreadsheets, Peter. Here's a gold coin.'" Thea, who had been silent this entire walk down the hall now laughed slightly. "I don't know how jobs work." Ned confined in Peter.

Peter looked at Ned in disbelief before he jokingly answered back, "That's exactly how they work." Thea laughed out loud at Peter's remark and smiled sweetly at the pair. "You two really need to figure your shit out," Thea said while laughing still. She covered her mouth her hand as her eyes closed in a squint. Ned kept on talking about the Lego set he had while Thea finally stopped giggling.

What Thea failed to notice was Peter gazing at her like a lovesick puppy. His eyes grew wide in adoration as he failed to listen to anything Ned said to him.

"You know Ned, I could always build the set with you, seeing as Peter isn't going to anytime soon," Thea spoke out while looking at Ned. Ned looked at Thea with absolute joy on his face as he spoke, "Really?!"

Thea laughed out as she said, "Really, Ned." Thea looked over at Peter, who was still looking at Thea with a look of awe on his face and asked him. "So what about you Parker?"

With softness in his voice, he said to Thea, "That'd be great."

I hope this was worth the wait????? I'm currently rewriting Static Pulses cause I wrote that whole thing REALLLLL quick and put no effort into the first half of it.

Also, side note, all manipulated gifs are made by me unless stated otherwise!!!
