Little Light
Beastly -- prologue.
Murmurs rippled through the dark.
Catalina's heavy breath sounded close to my ear, and a cool piece of metal was placed into my hand. I motioned to say something when a sharp, "be quiet," was hissed through her lips.
The alarm had ceased it's panicked chirping, and now only the eerie flashing red light remained. Catalina placed a dark blanket over my head and drifted towards the boarded up windows, flexing her fingers against the metal shutters that had slid into place once the alarm sounded. I understood what it meant; a breach.
It was not seemingly shocking, as I turned to stare at the clock. The red highlighted the numbers, and I was able to make out the hand exactly on the twelve. My heart lodged into my throat at the time.
"Catalina," I breathed. My sister's dark hair swished as she turned to look at me. I'd always thought how we were such a contrast; Catalina -- the dark. And I, the mere pale image of her. "The time."
Her eyes narrowed at the clock before she faced the window once more. Footsteps sounded from above -- the lights flickered -- and then we were shrouded in complete darkness. A hand came to clutch mine, and I quickly realized it was Catalina as she pressed herself into my side.
I categorized her scent, the shape of her fingers, and the wholeness of my sister. An end approached -- an imminent end.
It seemed she did the same, cool fingers pressing to my cheekbone and a searing kiss placed to my temple. I identified the wetness on my face as her tears as she pressed her face to mine. "Eleanora," a faint whisper into the stillness of the room.
And then chaos.
I screamed for help as I gripped Catalina's hand, desperately trying to root her in place as she was torn from me. "Lina! Lina!" I cried.
A blood curling scream tore through her throat -- loud and horribly ear piercing -- and a flourish of dark hair as she was ripped through the open window.
Into the night, likely never to return, and just on the cusp of adulthood.
Eighteen never tasted so bitter.
A Brief Introduction
Eleanora will be played by Emilia Clarke
Eleanora is keenly aware of the horrors that now overtake the real world and is seemingly unsure of what her place in it may be. As with the disappearance of her sister -- and a new hierarchy rising -- she must pick a side as the prey or predator. Distraught with the disappearance of young girls and the monsters that now openly lurk, Eleanora determines, "There is one thing I am sure of an vast sea of unknowns; my eighteenth birthday approaches, and it is up to me to either succumb, or be determined to break the clock."
Beastly is a cross of romance, with a supernatural twist, and adventure. And perhaps a little mystery.
After all, things surely do go bump in the night.
