--- One Awkward Car Ride Later ---

Devin tossed his hunting bag and rifle over his shoulder.

"So when can I call you papa?" he asked with a devilish smirk.

"Gene's fine Devin..." Papa told Devin, as he retrieved his hunting gear from the back of the truck. 

Sending a cocky grin to Gene Devin replied "Soon you will have the best son on earth," he paused thinking for a moment "And the happiest daughter"

They walked on in silence for a moment, their feet crunching on the fiery fall leaves. 

"...About that Devin..." Gene responded not noticing the sign which read 'PRIVATE PROPERTY; residents and invited guests only.'

"Belle is having trouble... picturing you two together" Gene struggled to explain.

"Does she think she isn't good enough for me???", Devin replied, furrowing his dark eyebrows together.

"Not exactly, I think its my fault honestly. I let her read too many fairy-tales as a child." Gene sighed.

"So she wants 'Prince Charming'?" Devin said running his hand through his dark black hair.

 The clouds above started to drop rain, as if the storm from home had followed them there. 

Gene sighed and  nodded sullenly.

"Good thing you've got me then!!" stated Devin with a huge smile, not noticing the rustling behind him.

"I will be the best..." Devin boasted.

 Gene looked concerned. The rustling turned into a rumble.

"...Most charming,"

Gene's eyes went wide. the rumble turned into a roar.

"Handsomest!"

The roaring creature was right behind Devin towering over him at 7'ft. Gene's jaw dropped as he stared at the Hell hound's Dripping Jowls. The hound's paw raised to strike 

"Best husba-"

Gene whispered in terror,"Devin I want you to very slowly turn round" Devin's eyes widened as he whipped around on his heel and looked up to meet the creature's deadly red eyes.

Devin shrieked grabbing for his gun.

The Creature let out an earth shaking howl.

Gene grabbed Devin's arm and took off at a stunning speed. 

They ran but the creature ran faster.

"We... need to...split up." Gene panted. "I will be the bait you shoot the creature"

Devin nodded mutely as Gene veered off to the right.

"Come get me you hideous thing!" Gene taunted.

The monster followed Gene into a clearing full of small brown mushrooms, and rotting trees.

Gene was drenched with sweat and rain, running and waving his arms like a mad man.

Devin hid in the underbrush. He knelt on the muddy ground the barrel of his rifle aimed at the beast's head.

Devin moved his finger slowly on the trigger of the gun. Gene's feet scrambled into a circle of mushrooms. The monster reached out its clawed paw and swiped Gene's Sleeve leaving the bloody torn fabric on the ground.

 And then suddenly, the beast was gone,

and Gene with it.

Devin blinked and slowly he stood. "What in the world?".
