~Out of the Frying Pan~
The boat crept up to a window on the lower level of the castle. Hook slowly stopped it and leaned over, unlatching the window.
The window slid open suddenly and I felt Hook grab my arm, dragging me in silently. The marble floors echoed with the sound of our feet. I took in the white brick walls, they seemed ages old and had stained a sad grey color that didn't quite match the outside of the castle. Hook pulled me onward as I realized we were majorly outnumbered.
Pointy eared servants rushed by us with trays of food, stacks of books and all sorts of other items.
I dimly realized that we must have entered into the servant's pathways around the castle. Luckily we were staying very close to the wall. We continued onward and stopped at the door at the end of two deserted hallways.
The door was black with three locks. White dust had settled on them, but the dust looked like it had been disturbed recently...
I flattened myself against the wall as I listened to Hook pick the locks.
I'll never know for sure... (Since he was invisible), but I was imagining him using his hook hand and another metal rod.
The locks clicked open one by one and Hook opened the door, grabbing for my hand again.
But when had my adventures ever been that easy?
"Hello Belle~" Pan emerged from the darkness of the hallway with a cheeky smile, "I've been expecting you.
I shoved Hook into the room and shut the door behind him.
"You can see me?" I ask incredulously.
"Of course. Merryweather is a dear, faithful, friend of mine~" He jeered.
"I knew I shouldn't trust her!" I fumed.
"You really ought to trust those little feelings Belle." He chided taking slow deliberate steps towards me.
I stood protectively in front of the door.
Pan only smiled and waved his hand, the locks clicking shut behind me with a swirl of green magic.
He took out a sword, and gestured with his free hand down the dark hallway from whence he came. "This way if you please~"
With the sharp point of the sword pressed into my back, and a harsh hand holding my arm Pan lead me down a dimly lit staircase into the dungeon.
"So what's new... Pan?" I spat.
"Oh nothing much... I've been pretty busy lately. Ya know, Getting the Dragon into a position to defend Rose. Right behind the door you almost entered~ Good thing I stopped you eh?~" He sneered.
I gasped and stopped, the sword pressing lightly into my back.
"Oh dear Belle... you were alone weren't you?!" Peter mocked, his eyes widening comically.
"Hook!" I exclaim, attempting to wrench my arm from his grasp.
"Oh I'm sure you're Captain friend will be fine..."
I blinked at him as he tossed me into a cell and locked it with another swirl of green magic.
"A fine meal for the Dragon that is!" Pan cackled.
"You won't get away with this!" I growled.
"Oh but my dear Belle I already have." He smiled levelly at me.
I glared at him.
"Careful or your face will freeze that way." He sauntered back towards the steps, spinning on his heel and turning to face me.
"You're British, have you ever been to London?"
I blinked twice, "Yeah, I lived there."
"You haven't by any chance met a girl by the name of Wendy Darling have you?" He asked studying his nails in a faked nonchalance.
"Why do you ask?" I asked uncomfortably.
"So you -DO- know her!" He exclaimed abandoning all sense of sobriety.
"I didn't say that!" I exclaim.
"Oh but it's really about what you choose not to say. I'm a Fae dear you can't lie to me~" He replies crossing his arms over his chest.
"I'm not your dear!" I snapped.
He walked closer to the bars of my cell, cocking his head to the side.
"You do know her. Is she doing well?"
He seemed almost concerned. I was taken aback.
"I-I don't know. I haven't seen her in a while." I shrug.
"Well how was she when you were on earth?" He pressed, frowning.
"It had been a while since I'd seen her. Even while I was on earth. We used to be friends but... She went off to University... And We grew apart." I admit.
"Oh..."
"Why the sudden and random interest in her?" I asked.
"Oh it's neither sudden or random. I've been waiting 12 years for this. And It's all coming down to the wire. The old woman is nearly dead, then her protection spells will wear off." He smiled eerily.
"Yes sirree! Everything's coming up Peter!" He giggled madly, taking the stairs two at a time. "Oh and Belle do enjoy your stay~"
The door slammed shut behind him and I let out a breath I hadn't known I'd been holding.
Okay his interest in Wendy was decidedly bad. But Wendy could wait.
Me getting out of this cell and saving Hook couldn't.
