~Changing~

I had been sailing for two weeks with hook and his men.

They had been distrustful of me, saying it was bad luck to have a girl on board. But they soon realized that their worries were unfounded and I was no threat to them.

Sailing in the air was a lot like sailing on the water, there were currents and storms and stories of creatures that lurked in the space around the ship.

And there was one story that the crew told me that Hook had forbidden them from speaking of.

"Oh come now you lot! W-we really shouldn't tell her." The man worried his red cap in his hands.

"Shut up Smee!" Bastian barked.

Jack chuckled. "Are you sure you want to know lass?"

"I'm not afraid of any story you could tell me!" I smirked.

"Alright then." Jack clapped. "Hook told you how he lost his hand aye?"

"Aye." I reply.

"But did he tell you where that hand is now?" Jack leans forward conspiratorially.

"Pan has it right?" I ask.

"Well yes and no. Pan had it... till he fed it to the Beast."

"What?" I gasp.

Bastian snorted and smacked Jack on the shoulder, "Oi you idiot she thinks you're talking bout' Everard."

Jack laughed so hard he nearly fell off his chair. "No not to your beast lassie. To the mechanical beast!"

"The Ticker." Bastian frowned.

"The Crock!" Jack shouted.

"What?" I asked, I was completely lost...

"Pan made a giant mechanical beast to come after Hook, he fed it his hand and the beast has been out for Hook's blood ever since!" Bastian replied somberly.

I dimly noticed Smee leaving the room.

Jack nodded, "It's said that the creature haunts the skies over Neverland,"

I jumped as a loud crash echoed through the mess.

Hook stood outlined in the doorway, his face stony.

"I thought I told you never to speak of that creature." he hissed.

Jack sat up straighter. "Poppycock! Superstitious nonsense." he replied with a look bordering on mutiny.

"The creature can be summoned by being spoken about how many times must I tell you?!" He growled.

Jack gulped.

"Go swab the poop deck and be glad I didn't throw you in the brig." Hook sighed.

Jack stood and crossed his arms over his chest opening his mouth to speak when.

"ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR"

The ship tilted heavily to the side as if something had landed on the top deck.

"BATTLE STATIONS!" Hook Barked.

He rushed forward and grabbed my hand dragging me up to the Captain's cabin.

"Stay here the Cabin is protected by magic." He yelled over the roaring of the giant black mechanical creature.

I watched from the doorway as he unsheathed his sword and stared down the creature.

The ticking of the mechanisms was so loud I could feel the vibrations through the planks of the ship.

The creature just sat there on the front of the ship, its then I realize what it's doing.

The weight of the monstrous black dragon causes the ship to nosedive.

The men scramble to hold onto the masts and planks as we land in the middle of a body of water with a large splash.

The waves are choppy as strange storm clouds begin to roll in.

I can hear some singing in the distance.

Hook's eyes widen as the creature flaps its mechanical wings, and with the screeching sound of metal against metal it flies away, taking the ticking noise with it.

"Boys, strap yourselves to the mast" The captain commanded.

"What is it Hook?" I ask wandering out of the cabin.

"Sirens..." he frowns.

Suddenly the haunting voices grew louder and splashing could be heard outside our vessel.

I shriek as two hands clamp down on the edge of the ship near me. The hands are covered in scales and are a sick grayish color. The creature pulls herself up so her head can be seen.

"Come with me, down into the sea~" Her haunting voice calls out. The men tied to the mast strain against their bonds.

"Oh shut up!" Hook exclaims chucking her off the side of the ship. "Can you give me a hand here Belle?"

"Of course!" I exclaim. Hook tosses me a sword. "What am I Supposed to do with this?"

Hook mimes swinging a sword.

"Oh."

I slice the air near one of the mermaid's heads. She hisses at me her hand reaching for my sword.

"Sorry!" I exclaim as the sword cuts into her hand and she looses her grip on the side of the boat.

"Did you just apologize?!" Hook chuckles.

"Well I don't want to be rude!" I shot back.

"Belle they attacked us!!!"

I shrug.

There is a lull in the fighting and I use it to ask Hook. "How come you aren't affected by the siren song?"

"The same reason you aren't..."

"And what's that?" I ask.

"We're in love..." He smiles.

I pull a face.

"Separately! Not with each other! Look I love Rose, and you love Everard..."

I open my mouth to argue.

"Or at least you like them, besides the sirens tend to go after men..."

I'm quiet for a moment as I help Hook toss another siren into the choppy water.

He frowns. "I'm a bit worried."

"Why's that?"

"I think this attack was orchestrated by Pan..."

"What makes-"

"Ah, wise man Hook!" Chuckles an all too familiar voice.

"Damn!" Hook swore.

We both turned to see Peter standing on the mast. He smiles at us.

"Now I was expecting Hook... But Belle what a welcome surprise."

"Pan back off."

"I don't think I will... in fact... Do you hear that?" We all froze listening...

"Tick, tick, tick, tick..." Peter mocked eerily, as A black shadow fell over us.

Hook's eyes widened.

"Get to the cabin Belle... RUN!" He yells.

I only made it three steps before Peter caught up with me. And to be perfectly honest I think that's because he liked this game of cat and mouse.

"Belle~"

"Back off Pan!" I spat brandishing my sword.

"What are you going to do? Stab me?"

In response I swing the sword at him.

He laughs happily and hops back.

"You're going to have to do better than that!" He replies, his hands on his hips.

He flies over to grab a sword from one of the men tied to the mast.

"Fine you want a sword fight? I'll give you a sword fight!" He cackled.

Our swords clashed together as the boat listed to the side. I didn't need to look behind me to know the metal dragon had returned.

"Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!" The creature roared.

The titling of the ship caused me to loose my balance. Pan knocked the sword easily out of my hand.

"Aw Belle! I was hoping for more of a fight!" Pan pouted.

The tip of his sword bit into my neck.

White hot panic filled my vanes. I suddenly became aware that my left hand was getting very hot.

The heat crept up my arm and Pan shrieked stepping back. I shot a quick look at my hand and nearly shrieked too.

I watched as my skin turned coal black. My nails lengthened into sharp claws and my senses sharpened.

I knocked pan's sword out of his hand with my left paw. I growled as the heat flooded my chest and went down my legs and other arm, I screamed as my teeth elongated into sharp fangs.

Pan blanched and backed away from me.

"Oh but Pan~ I wasn't even trying!" I growl in a voice that reminds me of Everard. Pan takes on a fighting stance.

He swipes at me and I dodge. Hearing a whistling noise as his hand misses my head. Then I launch myself at him. He topples over like a feather. My hands close round his throat. His green eyes widen as he struggles for breath.

"Tink!" He squeaks.

Suddenly I'm tackled by a tiny body. I roll and use her momentum to knock her over into the water. Peter still lays on the deck a few feet away from me.

"ARG!" Hook growls.

My eyes flicker to the front part of the deck where Hook is engaged in battle with the massive black mechanical dragon.

In a few steps I've crossed to stand beside him. I let out a horrible growl and the creature starts. Hook turns to me and drops his sword backing up.

From deep inside of me begins some primal howl.

The creature beats his onyx wings and takes off. The screeching of the metal is murder on my sensitive ears.

Hook eyes me with a clear distrust.

"Belle?" He asks, recognition dawning on his face.

And then I collapsed, and the world went dark.

And that's all I remember.
