I originally planned for this to be a six book series, but life has gotten in the way. I still hope to complete the project one day, but I hesitate to make any promises.

As it stands I wrote four of the planned six books. I've published three of them. And then... life happened, in part at least.

And in part some stuff started to weigh on my mind relating to this series.

First, life.

There was a time when I was pretty committed to the idea that I would one day become a full time writer. I invested a great deal of time and money into this idea, sadly despite getting some good feedback on my books, I haven't seen much financial success. I have come to believe this is the norm for most writers.

As I started to realize this, I had to create a better balance. I couldn't put off other things by saying, when I don't have to work and I can just write, I will have time to...

So I still write. It's an avocation now, not a job. And that means I have less time to do it. And it means that I have less money to spend on things like editing, professional covers and marketing.

(At the same time, I'm happier because I don't have to put as much emphasis on artificial measures like sales, engagement, what sells. Instead I can write what I want. If you enjoy it, please keep reading. If you don't care for my writing, that's okay.)

Around the same time I broke with my small press publisher and editor. It was a mutual split and I have no hard feelings at all.

So Bear Naked 4: the Wolf Council sat in my hard drive for a long time now, with no chance that I can spend several hundred to a thousand dollars on editing and publishing it.

I've decided to start sharing it here, but it will be a little more rough. Keep that in mind as you read. If you see typos, grammar errors, etc. please leave a comment so I can look them over and correct them as necessary.

But it's a bit rougher in another way, which brings us to some of the problems I was having with this series.

The pack is growing up. They've faced some difficult stuff, and it gets hard as we go forward. And it gets — a bit more adult.

At conventions and online I kept getting the feedback that people were happy to find an LGBT friendly YA series without a lot of sex, drugs or violence. And I kept thinking, "It's a bit more of a New Adult series, actually. Like they will be adults in book three and some of the storylines are, more New Adult.

We've already heard about how tribes like the Fletcher's survive, drug and sex trafficking. This book will explore that in more detail, and how the pack reacts. If you trust me to deal with these matters carefully, read on. If it's not something you are interested, I understand.

And so, I've decided to go ahead and share this book. I will added a few trigger warnings and maybe label this book as having adult content, even though it's not erotica or anything like that.
