chapter 3
Your stomach growls with emptiness. After a huge dinner, you wonder how in the world you are hungry. It brings back all the laughs you had last night. Silently giggling to yourself, you realize how stupid you are for laughing at yourself in your room. It makes you laugh more. Still, how are you hungry? After a few minutes of tired confusion, you remember that you didn't have breakfast or lunch. That explains why you had three desserts. You figure it is best to sleep it off and have breakfast in the morning. It seems like a good idea, until, you cannot fall asleep. No matter how much you try, you just can't seem to sleep a wink. Your hunger overpowers you and keeps you from sleeping. The thought of Ethan watching you snarf down tons of cereal, muffins, eggs and bacon also keeps you awake. You decide it is best to get up and raid the fridge instead.
Quietly, you tip-toe over to your bedroom door. Turning the knob, you silently open the door and step out into the hallway. You glance at Ethan, who is sleeping in the living room couch, snoring ever so slightly. You smile a bit, but then continue on when you hear your stomach rumble. You can only hope Ethan doesn't wake up. You open the fridge and find a yogurt amongst all the food, and take it out. After carefully removing the lid and recycling it, you get a spoon from the drawer. Turning around, you see Ethan stirring in his sleep. Did you make too much noise? All of the sudden, Ethan sits up quickly.
He turns, looks at you, and stops. He's breathing heavily. You rush over to him.
"Are you okay?" you ask, wondering what happened. Ethan catches his breath while you look at him. He's sweating.
"Yeah. I, uh, I have nightmares sometimes." He wipes the sweat from his forehead.
"I'll get you some water," you say, rushing back to the fridge. You put your yogurt down and grab a bottled water for Ethan. You bring it back to him, and he takes it, thanking you. After he's gulped down enough, he looks at you and apologizes.
"I'm sorry. It takes me some time to get used to new places, and I have these re-occurring nightmares sometimes." Ethan looked down, almost embarrassed. You wonder why he would be.
"There's nothing to apologize about," you say, pausing to sit down on the couch with him. You notice that he doesn't scooch over or react much. Probably just because he's tired. You continue. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not really. I don't ever remember my nightmares anyways." Ethan yawns, and you decide not to keep him awake any longer.
"I'll let you get some rest, then. Good night, Ethan."
"Good night, y/n. And thank you. For everything." You take one last glance at him and grab your yogurt. Heading back to your room, you think over a lot of stuff. You've met your idol, who's also your best friend. He's staying at your house. He just woke up from a nightmare and you gave him some water and comforted him a bit. You smile to yourself, and eat a spoonful of yogurt.
You sit down on your bed, finishing the yogurt. You put it on your desk, and plan to throw it away tomorrow. You pull the covers over your head, as your A/C is blasting and you're too lazy to get up and shut it off. Snuggled up to your giant stuffed dog, you close your eyes. Smiling, you fall asleep.
*time skip brought to you by ethan's eyes bc u could get lost in them*
You wake up to the smell of bacon. Who the hell is cooking? You're suddenly very alarmed until you remember.
Ethan's here.
Wow. You've been awake for only 5 seconds, and you're already smiling! That's a new record. Good job. Anyway, you get up out of bed and stretch while yawning. You open the door and step into the living room. Ethan is no longer on the couch-bed, so you glance at the kitchen. (it's an open floor plan so the living room leads right into the kitchen :P) Ethan is at the stovetop, making bacon and eggs. You smile warmly at him.
"You didn't have to make breakfast for us! I could've gotten something or made it myself. You're the guest here, after all." You look at Ethan with gratitude and excitement.
"I wanted to. I can't thank you enough for this, y'know? I figured it would be OK to use the eggs and bacon. Sorry I didn't ask, but I wanted to surprise you." Ethan kept making the eggs and bacon while he spoke.
"You're welcome. And thank you for making breakfast. And, duh, you can use those eggs. What else would I have them in here for?" You and Ethan both laughed. Everything was going great. I mean, after all, staying with your once and possibly now YouTube crush is pretty amazing.
What could go wrong?
