Chapter 6 ~ Ivette
After talking for a while in the coffee place, I am invited to Harry’s flat. Honeslty, I was pretty nervous and I thought it was too soon to make this kind of stuff. I mean, this was not a date or anything, but I just met the guy. Wouldn’t you want to get to know the person first and then show them your flat? Apparently, Harry was different. I was a bit hesitant before accepting, but he insisted and I just couldn’t say no. So that’s where we are headed at the moment. I’m following him in my car to his flat. I seriously have no idea what we’re going to do there, but I’m quite excited that I’m finally getting to do this kind of things… excited things.
After a few minutes of driving, Harry finally comes to a stop and I park my car just behind his. I grab my bag and everything I’m going to need and then get out of the car, locking it later.
“Is it really far away from your house?” He asks. That was the lame excuse I had given when I was abit hesitant about accepting, but he still kept insisting, telling me that it was not going to be far at all, and now that I think about it, it really isn’t.
I shake my head, blushing a bit for how stupid I was being. “Not really,” I reply.
“See, I told you,” He says walking inside a building. “This way,” He says later, motioning me to follow him. I do as told and as I do so, I admire the first floor. I have to say, it was quite nice. It seems peaceful and that’s always good.
“So, do you live by yourself?” I ask once we’re in the elevator so that we’re not standing in an awkward silence.
Harry shakes his head, his curls going all over the place as he does so. “I live with my ban— best friend, Louis,” he explains.
“Oh, I see,” I reply, not knowing what else to say, but just in that moment, the elevator doors open. I wait for Harry to step outside so I can follow him, and after walking for a few seconds, we’re finally in front of his flat. He takes out his keys and opens the door, letting me in first once he does so. “Nice place,” I say once I checked out the entrance and the living room which came next. It was pretty simple, but it was pretty and really comfortable for the two people that lived here.
“Thanks,” he says, walking to the kitchen. “Would you like anything to drink? Water, tea…?” He trails off.
I smile “Tea sounds great,” I reply.
He nods. “Tea coming right up,” he jokes. “You can take a sit while I make it,” he suggests. I just nod and take a sit in the couch, waiting patiently until the tea is done so that Harry joins me again.
“So where’s Louis?” I ask.
“How do you know his name?” He asks, kind of freak out I have to admit.
I frown, confused. “You told me a few minutes ago,” I say and his face relaxes.
“Right,” he says, letting out a nervous laugh. “Uh, Louis is with his girlfriend. He doesn’t get to see her much because of his job, so they always try to spend as much time together as they can,” He explains.
“Aw, that’s sweet,” I reply with a smile. “Thanks,” I say as Harry hands me a cup of tea and then sits down by my side.
“You’re welcome,” He says, giving me one of his precious smiles, showing me his dimples. “But yeah,” he continues after taking a sip of his own tea. “Louis is a great lad,” he adds.
“I can imagine,” I say. “Given that you live with him tells me something,” I add, taking another sip of my tea later.
“I hope you can meet him soon. Actually, I hope you can meet all of my friends soon,” He says, pausing for a while later. “I bet you would get along with everyone,”
“Well, I met Niall already, so that’s a start,” I say, giggling a bit.
He smiles. “Yeah, I guess,” He says. “Do you think I’ll be able to meet some of your friends as well?” He asks, and my body freezes at that question. Instead of acting normal like any other human being, I stupidly stutter and then change the topic drastically, and let’s not forget the fact of drinking from my cup longer than necessary before talking.
“These are really nice cups,” I say. “Where did you buy them?”
Harry frowns. Clearly, he is confused as to why I acted that stupid. God, sometimes I wish I wasn’t so awkward. “They were a present from my mum,” He says.
“Nice,” I say, giving him an exaggerated smile. He’s still frowning, but I’m really glad that he dropped the subject. After that awkward moment, we actually continued talking normally as if it never happened. I felt more comfortable after. So comfortable to a point where I was talking non-stop. I don’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but I was happy to know that Harry was listening carefully and he was actually paying attention to everything I was saying. Obviously, I was listening carefully to everything he had to say as well. Somehow I felt intrigued by this guy. Everything he said sounded so interesting and amazing, not to mention the awesome bonus that we were still getting to know each other as well.
After a while of talking, we decided to look for something to watch in the telly. We found out that there were giving re-runs of The Inbetweeners, so we decided to watch that, but in the meantime we were stuck watching these stupid commercials.
Do you and your friends enjoy playing truth or dare?
Are you tired of thinking what good dares to give?
You can now download truth or dare for android and iPhone on the app store. An app that gives you so many good dares to give to your friends and—
“They can’t be serious,” Harry says, interrupting one of the many stupid commercials.
I giggle. “They have an app for everything, Harold,” I reply, and he chuckles at how I called him.
“But that is so lame, seriously,” He says, and I nod in agreement. Another commercial comes on and a small smile appears on my face.
“Harold?”
“Yes?” He answers.
“Truth or dare?” I ask, teasing him. He smiles and thinks for a bit.
“Dare,” He replies, and then it is my turn to think.
“Tell me a secret,” I say after a few seconds of thinking. I thought it would be fun since we’re still getting to know each other, and I always thought that sharing secrets would be something fun to do with your friends. I’ve always imagined sharing secrets with your best friend and then laughing at the embarrassing or fun things to share, so I wanted to try that with Harry. I know I met him not too long ago, but I can seriously say he’s my closest friend and by what I know about him, I know that I can trust him.
“That’s a good one,” He says, his face serious all of a sudden. “There’s actually one secret I need to tell you,” And by the way he’s talking, he’s making me nervous.
“What is it?” I ask.
“I should’ve told you since the day I met you, but I was so happy with how you treated me that I didn’t want to, but I know I have to,” He says, letting out a sigh.
“What are you talking about?” I ask confused.
“I’m in a band,” He says quickly. “But I’m tired of how hard it is to find friends because of the money and all that stuff. They all want to be my friend because of—”
“The money and the stuff you can get them,” I finish his sentence. “Tell me about it,” I reply. It’s true. When I was in middle school, a lot of kids will use to hang out with me, but after my mom explained that they only liked me for the money we had, I stopped hanging out with them and because of that it was harder to find friends. I got to the point where I would look at everyone curiously, judging just by the way they looked if they were interested in my money or in really being my friends. That is the reason of why people see me like a total bitch. “But anyway, are you and your band like… really popular?” I ask, changing the topic.
He nods. “Yeah, but how do you know how does it really feels?” He asks, changing the topic again.
I sigh. If he told me one of his secrets, I should tell him one of mines, right? “Want to know one of my secrets?” I ask and he nods. “I’m a millionaire. Well, my parents are. They gain a lot of money because of their job.” I explain briefly.
Harry stays quiet for a while, thinking about everything, I guess. “Oh, so that explains how fancy your car is,” He randomly says, making me laugh at what he was actually thinking about.
“And that explains how fancy yours is too!” I reply, making him laugh as well. “Tell me more about your band, please,” I say, and like that he begins telling me everything. From when did they start, to how really popular they are, etc. Only when he’s done telling me their story I realize that I’ve seriously lived under a rock these past two years. I didn’t know I was friend with a celebrity! I never thought that I would be friends with a celebrity. But then again I thought I was never going to have a friend. I’m glad that things have changed though because I seriously like how they are turning out for me.
For the first time in my life I think that things are finally turning out the way I want.
