Chapter 21 ~ Harry

Chapter 21 ~ Harry

So far, everything was going great.

We just got out of the movies and we were ready to have dinner at a nice restaurant near the movies. It was one of my favorites, and I was sure Ivette was gonna like it too.

“Did you like the movie?” Ivette asks as I start driving.

I shrug. “To be honest, I wasn’t paying much attention,” I admit, chuckling.

“You thought it was boring?” She asks, her smile fading and a worried expression soon taking over all of her face.

“No, no, it was not that,” I answer, realizing that I probably made her feel bad since she chose the movie. “I was just… My mind was somewhere else,” I say, blushing. And I know I’m blushing because Ivette has a big smirk on her lips.

“Really?” She says. “And what were you thinking about?” She asks as I park my car outside the restaurant.

“Honestly, I was thinking of you,” I admit. “I was thinking of how nice was to be there with you, just cuddling,” I shrug. “I don’t know. That sounded less stupid in my head,” I say, unbuckling my seatbelt as she does the same. Before I can say anything else, though, I’m cut off by a pair of lips kissing my cheek.

“I think it’s cute,” Ivette says, smiling. “But you say it like we haven’t done it before.”

“Well, that’s the thing, it always feel like it, that’s why I like it,” I admit, this time making her blush, which makes me chuckle. “Shall we?” I ask, motioning to the restaurant.

Ivette nods. “We shall.”

We both get out of the car and walk towards the restaurant. I tell my name to the hostess and she leads us to a booth at the back of the restaurant. She tell us that our waitress will be with us shortly, so we thank her and make small conversation while we wait.

When the waitress finally comes, she asks us for our drinks and then leaves us to keep looking at the menu.

“What are you gonna get?” Ivette asks.

“Mm, I’m thinking pasta,” I say, but before I can say anything else I see her scrunching up her face. “You don’t like pasta?!” I exclaim, because I mean, who doesn’t like pasta.

Ivette shakes her head. “I mean, I used to, but my mom loves it and they used to make it a lot when I was little, so now I hate it,” She explains.

“Huh, interesting,” I say. “Well, I love pasta, not a lot like Mari does, but still,” I explain.

Soon enough, our waitress is back with our drinks. We order our food and she takes the menus with her, telling us that the food will be ready in about half an hour or less.

“So you do know a lot about Mari,” She says, as I take a sip from my drink.

I nod. “Well, I’m guessing you know more about her than I do, but yeah, we used to talk about anything when I went to the pub a lot,” I explain.

“And why did you go so frequently?” She asks. “I mean, you were not like an alcoholic or anything, right?” She asks, her eyes wide open and I can’t help but laugh.

“No, of course not,” I say. “I just felt like getting distracted a bit from all the shit that media talks, you know, the girls problem and stuff,” I explain. “When I have problems as such I feel better if I have a drink, which if I say it like that it does make me sound as an alcoholic,” I joke, making her chuckle. “But I promise I’m not.”

“No, I totally understand,” She says. “I feel the same. When having problems like that, I feel better with a drink,” She shrugs, but my eyes widen in surprise. “What?” She asks. “Oh no, not girl problems!” She laughs. “I just meant… family problems and such,” She explains.

I chuckle. “I know, I was just messing with you,” I say.

A few minutes later, our waitress is back with our food. After thanking her we start eating, still making small conversation. I even got Ivette to have some of my pasta and in return she gave me some of her steak, which it was delicious by the way.

When we were done eating, the waitress took our empty plates, but instead of asking for the check, we stayed talking for a bit longer.

“Haz,”

“Yeah?”

“Tell me a secret,” Ivette says, resting her chin on the palm of her hand.

I smile. “Uhm… Okay let me think,” I say. “But if you have one, you can go ahead and say it,” I say, smiling, eager to find out more about her.

“I actually do have one,” She replies. “And I’m gonna sound like a total bitch, but I have the right to feel like this,” She briefly explains.

“Go ahead,” I say.

“I don’t want to see my parents next week. In fact, I never want to see them again,” She says.

I frown. “Ouch, that’s harsh. How come you don’t want to see them again?” I ask. I always wondered why Ivette’s parents were never home, now I wonder if it’s because of business or because Ivette doesn’t like them and doesn’t want them there.

“Because they annoy me. They’re so frustrating and I can’t stand them,” She explains, taking a sip from her water later.

“But what happened for you to think that?” I ask.

“They never cared for me. I don’t even know why they decided to have me. Tell me, who has a baby and leave another person in charge to take care of her while they’re traveling all around the world,” She explains. “So my conclusion is, why should I care for them, when they never cared for me.”

My eyes are wide open in shock. I never knew that Ivette’s childhood was this hard. I guess now I know why she’s so independent. “I’m sorry,” I say, taking her hand in mine.

“It’s okay, it’s not your fault,” She answers, giving me a small smile.

“In other news, I’m really really happy that they decided to have you,” I say.

“Why?” She asks.

“Cause I got to meet you,” I reply, making her smile.

“Well, I guess that’s the good part about all this,” She replies, making me smile.

“Are you ready to go, love?” I ask. She nods, and after finishing our drinks I ask for the check. After paying, we walk back to my car, hand in hand, and we stay like that for the rest of the drive back to Ivette’s house.

“Do you have work tomorrow?” She asks as I walk her back to the front door of her house, our hands still intertwined.

I sigh. “I do, and I have to get up early,” I reply. “I have a meeting and then we’re going to keep recording in the studio,” I explain.

“I see,” She says, looking down. “I was going to ask if you wanted to stay for a bit longer, but now I know the answer,” She says, this time looking up at me.

“I’m sorry,” I say, getting a bit closer to her.

She shakes her head. “It’s okay, we can do it another day, right?”

I smile. “Of course, this is not the last you’ll hear from me, darling,” I reply, putting a piece of her hair behind her ear.

“Good,” She replies with a smile. “Well, I had a great time,” She says. “Thank you for everything.”

“You don’t have to think me for anything, love,” I reply. “I had a great time as well,” I say, taking both of her hands in mine. She looks down at our hands, and I know she’s getting a bit nervous.

“Well, goodnight,” She says, and I can’t help the smirk that comes to my face.

“Goodnight,” I reply, pulling her closer, putting her arms around my neck.

“Haz,” she says.

“Shh,” I say quietly before she can say anything else. I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her even closer. “Relax,” I say, chuckling a bit. She’s getting more and more nervous, knowing what I want to do, but if she hasn’t pulled away then that means she wants to do it too. It’s understandable that she’s this nervous though. Everyone is when they’re about to have their first kiss. I’m sure she’s gonna be great though. I lean in slowly, making our faces just be inches apart from each other. Ivette is staring right into my eyes, but she can’t help to look at my lips either, just as I can’t help looking at hers. She leans in closer, this time, making our lips brush and our eyes to flutter close. Finally, I remove the little space that was left between us and capture her full lips in mine.

At first, she didn’t move her lips at all, but slowly she started getting the hang of it. I pull her close to me, making her wrap her arms around me a bit tighter. I tilt my head a little to the right, just to have a better angle and to deepen the kiss. Soon enough, our lips are moving in sync in a passionate, sweet, caring kiss.

And it was one of the best moments of my life.
