Tiger claws and teeth are used in necklaces and are believed to bring good luck, the tiger skin is sometimes fashioned into belts, tiger bones are ground and dissolved into water, then taken to treat headaches, rheumatism, and arthritis, the tiger brain is used to treat pimples, and the tiger paws is used for ritual purposes. 

Tigers live mainly in swamps and rainforests. They have great adaptions for these areas. Their stripes give them camouflage in the trees and bushes, they are strong swimmers, and they are great hunters. Unfortunately, most of this habitat is gone due to deforestation.

Of the nine subspecies of tigers, three have become extinct. The wild tiger population has gone from more to 60,000 to only 3,200 from 1940-2010. The remaining subspecies are The Bengal, Indochinese,  Malayan, Siberian/Amur, South China, and Sumatran tigers. The Bali, Caspian, and Javan tigers are extinct.
