Chapter Thirty Four

There wasn't much more that happened after that. With the sudden spring up of my dad wanting a divorce on my mom- she hadn't mentioned the teacher situation at all to me.

My dad had taken the majority of his things and moved in with one of his 'friends' for the time being.

Billie was still in the studio. Good news was that he was closer than before to ending the album. With a big brain storm Billie had had in the middle of the night, they'd made far progress but were yet to find an album name.

All my tests had finally been finished. Only left was graduation- which I did not plan on going to.

Whilst the paper works were being ready for my mom and dad divorcing one another, my mom had made it her new found mission to find somebody else. Going on dates so often, I'd basically had the house all to my self.

And I had most literally been: all alone.

Call this the saddest graduation ever.

I sat in my moms office desk chair, while she was out on another useless date proving her point I decided now would be the best of times to start searching about moving out. All the money business and what not.

Now that school was nearly just out the way, I had to figure out leaving this place. But there was a tiny tinge of guilt in me for if I'd leave my mom by herself.

Although she'd never cared that much for me, only my reputation, I did pity her a little.

Whilst searching, my phone on the desk in front of me began to vibrate against the surface. I looked down seeing Esme's name come up.

"Hello?" I asked, picking up the call.

"Mallory? You weren't at school today?"

"Course not," I laughed. "I finished all my work- why would I be?"

"It's one of our few last days at school?"

"Pshhh, I don't care,"

She paused for a second. "You'll be here for grad though... won't you?"

"Y'mean if I have a choice,"

"Alright: if you do graduate, are you gonna be at graduation?"

"No,"

"What!?"

I wasn't gonna get away with this one easy that's for sure. "It's just- a lot of things have came up and grad is the last thing I care about. They'll just mail me my documents and bada-bing-bada-boom, sorted,"

"Bada-bing-bada-boom...?"

"Mhm,"

"Mallory you cant be serious right now. You cant just miss your graduation it's a once in a life time event,"

"A once in a life time event which I will not be attending,"

She groaned annoyed. "That's unbelievable- Mal you can't miss grad,"

"I can and I will,"

She groaned again, louder before the phone was put down.

Clear to see she did not support the whole skipping my own graduation. And I dread to hear Billies opinions on it.

I closed the tabs shutting the computer back down hearing a car pull into the house. Looking out the small window in the room, I could see the car was not of someone's I knew.

Must be whoever my mom was with.

I left the office, leaving everything how it was before going down the stairs, sitting in front of the TV which had already been left on trying to look as casual as I could until the front door opened.

My mom and her new friend, made their way into the house. The door closing again before they made their way into the front room.

My mom walked in first, the next guy looking over at me.

"Mallory," My mom resisted. Sighing like I was already doing something wrong.

"What?" I asked, not looking away from the television. Trying to seem like I was invested.

"Can you go upstairs please? I've got a guest round,"

I looked over at her. She stood in front of me staring down. "Why?" I asked confused. "I was here first?"

"Miss Valentine. I'm asking nicely. Upstairs. Now. Please,"

I sighed, getting up as I walked away. "Just because you add please doesn't make it nice." I mumbled leaving the room.

After what felt like an eternity of staying upstairs out of the way for my mom. The guy finally left as I decided to go back downstairs and actually talk with my mom.

"So... I'm guessing dads moved out then," I spoke out loud as I walked into the livingroom again, where she was.

She looked up at me. "Why is that any of your business?"

"Cause he's my dad?"

"He wanted to move out. I didn't kick him out that was his choice,"

I sat down on a seprate chair. Carrying on the conversation. "And you're already seeing so many new people?"

"Am I not aloud to?"

"Your bringing home random men. It's- kinda weird,"

"Well if it bothers you so much just leave,"

"I did?" I questioned. "I went upstairs like you asked,"

"Am I not aloud to be happy? After you and your father making me miserable?"

I squinted. "None of us make you miserable?"

"You're always doing something wrong Mallory and he was always doing nothing!"

It was unbelievable how she could say the things she did. Sometimes I did just wanna tell her how the feeling was mutual, but I never did I guess. Maybe I never would.

So I nodded. "Alright mom,"

Things between us went silent. I leaned back in the chair looking over at her, she wasn't looking at me. She was staring angrily at the TV.

I wonder if she even cared that much about dad leaving. I wonder if dad even cared that much about leaving. I wondered if I even cared about any of those things. After all, I didn't care about any of them.

I looked up at the clock. Feeling awkward. "I should probably head down to work," I lied.

My mom looked over at me. "Don't be going to see that teacher," she mumbled.

"Why not?"

"What do you mean why not? Doesn't it speak for itself?"

"He's not my teacher anymore. He's not even a teacher anyway. And plus- I've left school now,"

She shook her head unimpressed. "You don't have any idea what you're ever doing, do you Mallory?"

"Huh?"

"You're not mature enough for matured men. He won't want you for long. You should focus on better things then this,"

"What are you trying to say?" I squinted.

She looked over at me tiredly. Tired of saying the same things. "I'm saying Mallory, that your wasting your time. He won't care for long. He's passing his time,"

"Well- you're wrong-"

"-Trust me," She sniggered sarcastically. "I'm not,"

I finally got up. Breathing in. "It doesn't matter what I do anyway. It's my life,"

"That your ruining,"

"Mhm,"

~

"Where are you getting this shit from Mallory?"

I sighed, resting my head on my hand. Looking down at the phone on speaker on the table next to my coffee cup. "I'm just asking,"

"If I think you're mature enough for me?"

"I don't know Billie," I breathed. "I just-"

"-C'mon Mal, we're surely past second guessing our relationship now right?"

"I'm not second guessing it," I tried to play off.

"So why are you ringing me up asking me if I'll care for long?"

"Reassurance,"

I heard him laugh softly. Clearly not buying my bullshit. "Mallory- what's the real reason?"

"I was just- it's just- well I was speaking to my mom and-"

"-Oh lord-"

"-She was just saying all this stupid stuff. That I'm not mature enough for you. That you won't want me for long you're only passing your time. All this and that and- well yada yada,"

There was a moment of silence on the line. That made my heart a little nervous. I didn't at all believe what my mom had said. I just wanted to hear from someone else she was wrong too.

"You idiot," He laughed finally.

"Huh?"

"Course you're not time passer for me. I care about you- dumbass,"

I laughed nervously. "I know that- I just-"

"-Panicked?"

"I don't know," I sighed. "She just seemed so sure on it. Maybe I did panic,"

"Well..." he began. "I'd love to sit on the phone and reassure you for the rest of the day.... but-"

"-You've gotta go?"

"I'm afraid so,"

I looked around the café. Still empty. Nothing really seems to happen much anymore. Not with all the trouble of school being over and Billie not being around.

"Maybe I'll call you later if I have time? That okay?" He asked me.

I looked back down at the phone. Shutting my eyes for a second before I could speak. "Yeah," my voice croaking slightly. "Yeah- that sounds- sounds good,"

"Alright then,"

"Alright..."

"I've gotta go now Mal,"

"I know," I breathed.

"I'll ring you later? Okay?"

"Yeah,"

Before he said bye, I ended the call. Before taking a chug of the rest of my coffee. Leaving the café deciding instead to go on a walk.

A/N: hey guys!! I'm super sorry this is a small chapter. I feel like I can't add much right now since Billies not much in the story. I've got something huge planned. I've just gotta get some scenarios out the way with.

Sorry if this story seems more like it's getting into her family then Billie. I kinda have to do these parts for it to fit together.

Anyway! None the less, hope you enjoyed! Stay safe :) lots of love <3
