H2OToonz ~ The Party
"You should come over. Luke Patterson is throwing a wicked party in about thirty minutes."
Is that really all college is about anymore?
Parties?
I was starting to think that college was more stressful than high school, regardless of everyone saying that parties would make up for that.
That's not true.
I was extremely anti-social, so every time I was pressured to go to a party, and was told I had to go, I died a little bit on the inside.
I reluctantly stood up and grabbed a pair of my jeans on the floor.
Jonathan, start washing your clothes.
I tried to remind myself.
But no, I never did wash my clothes. Why? I was far too damn lazy.
I got home from classes, slept, and maybe went to a party, if I had to.
I was constantly in motion whenever I wasn't sleeping or eating.
Hell, even as I was snacking on Doritos or chewing on a granola bar, I was studying for the next class final.
My friend, Evan, called me.
"Delirious!" He said, calling me by my gaming name.
I groaned into the phone. "What?"
"Come on, dude. I already called you once. Even your sister is here at this party." He laughed.
"Wait, what? She doesn't even go to parties!" I said, pulling on a shirt, quickly.
"Well, she's at this one. With some guy. I think his name is Brock." Evan told me.
I jumped up.
"I'm on my way." I told him.
My baby sister with a guy? At a party? Without telling me first?
Oh, I'm gonna kick her ass.
When I arrived, Evan instantly bumped into me and grabbed my wrists.
I could smell the beer on his breath.
It make my stomach churn.
"Evan, how much did you drink?" I asked him.
"I didn't drink any," He lied.
"Yes you did, you're drunk, I smell it on your breath." I said, almost gagging.
"I'm not drunk, you're drunk." He laughed.
I rolled my eyes and shrugged away from him, heading towards my sister.
She was beside the stairs, a guy right next to her.
He looked shy, but I didn't want to take the chance that he would be a fuckboy.
I walked over and looked my sister in the eyes.
"What are you doing here?" She asked me.
"What do you mean, what am I doing here, Lonnah?! A high school student, at a college party? What the hell, do you just want boys in your pants?" I demanded.
She had her mouth wide open, shocked at what I had just said.
"What is your problem?! Jonathan, I just wanted to have fun!" She yelled at me, pushing me backwards.
It was quiet for a second.
Then I grabbed her wrist.
"Let's go, now." I pulled her forwards and she kicked and almost slid to the ground.
"Woah, woah. What's going on here?" A guy had rushed over.
I looked at him. He had very pretty eyes.
"I'm going to take my sister home. Thank you. Goodbye." I said, pulling her forward and her stumbling behind me.
He stepped in front of me.
"Wait, she's your sister?" He asked.
I nodded.
"This is my sister. And who are you?" I asked.
"Luke Patterson." He said, holding his arm in front of the door.
"And this is my party. She's my ex. I invited her for a reason."
I stepped up to him, inches away from his face.
His eyes sparkled with attraction, yet he played it off as normal.
"You don't have to take her home. Please. Just get a couple of drinks, have some fun. Finals are tomorrow." He smiled.
Damn, that smile.
"Exactly," I said.
"That's why me and her both are supposed to be home right now, her in bed and me studying. She shouldn't be here, Luke."
He sighed.
Then he whispered in my ear.
"Listen, she can go home, but you stay here, got it?"
I froze in place and let go of her wrist before the blush crept up to my face.
She ran off with Brock, rubbing her wrist, and went outside to the back.
I didn't care.
I had a fine man in front of me, and I didn't want him to leave, but of course I wouldn't admit that to his face.
He grinned and nudged me.
"Follow me." He whispered.
He pulled me up the stairs to his room.
"Wait, what are you doing?" I asked, out of breath.
"Showing you something." He said.
He pulled me to his window and pointed out of it.
I looked down at the view of the backyard and I saw my sister and Brock.
She was happy with him.
He smiled and grabbed her hand, then they sat down on a rock and she put her head on his shoulder.
"See, they love each other. You can't separate that. I know you're protective of her, I really do, but you gotta let her go." He smiled.
I looked at him.
"Why are you showing me this? She's your ex, right? I probably saw you around our house a few times." I said.
"I don't know, but I sure saw you, Jonathan. You attract me. Listen, she broke up with me because I'm gay. And she thought it was weird that I saw you like that, that you drew me in, when you didn't know me."
He laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Honestly, I feel like you didn't bring me up here to help my sister. I feel like you just wanted to show me what real romance is so you can get a few points in there yourself." I laughed.
He blushed and smiled.
"So you aren't gonna punch me or anything?" He asked.
I shook my head.
"Good." He grinned.
"Actually, I think I'll just do the opposite." I joked.
He looked at me.
"And what is that?"
I pulled him forward into a kiss and his arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer than ever.
And that was when I started feeling less stressed about college.
