- Noor's POV -

I skipped out a week of work so Rosalie had to temporarily take over my shifts. I told her I wasn't feeling well and probably won't be able to work.

She understood though and said Yasir barely even spoke to her.

I haven't broke the news to her though... she'll find out tomorrow night and hate me for not telling her earlier.

I'm going dress shopping today and Yasir was supposed to come along to approve it but he sent his mom. I decided I wanted to take my mom, sister and Farrah.

Why shop so last minute? Because I genuinely couldn't bring myself to enjoy myself until today. And his mother is an angel for understanding.

Amma and Yasir's mother have been getting along better than I expected. They talk and laugh as if they've been close friends for years.

So, when I asked my mother-in-law if my mom, Ayesha and Farrah can join, she seemed really excited and agreed right away.

The only reason I'm just assuming that she's happy or glad is because I don't know her well enough to jump on the bandwagon. I made that mistake with Omar's mother and she cussed me out the second things went south.

Omar... I hope his relationship goes up in flames!

No, no, no, don't hold grudges, Noor. It's not good for your mental or spiritual health.

But it's hard, you know? He did leave me minutes before our nikkah.

Thinking about it makes my breathing shallow and my lungs feel as if though they're about collapse.

Breathe, just breathe.

"Assalamualikum!" Farrah greets as she walks in the house. "Ready to go?" She asks but suddenly crinkles her brows. "Are you okay? You don't look so good."

"I—I was just thinking about the nikkah day. That really sucked." I tell her truthfully.

"Well, you're married into the Khan family. And not just any Khan family, the Khan Family of largest enterprise in the country." She winks. "Omar can go to Hell!"

"I hope whoever he ran away with leaves his indecisive ass!" Ayesha adds as she joins our conversation.

I crack into a smile. These two never fail to make me laugh.

"There you go, there's that devilish smile." Ayesha laughs.

I get a text from Yasir's mother, saying she's outside.

Once we step out, I'm sure there was an audible gasp that came out of all of our mouths.

It's a blacked out extended Mercedes Maybach, similar to a mini limousine. This must at least cost $350,000.

The driver steps out to open the door for us and Yasir's mother waves at us from inside, while gesturing for us to come inside.

Farrah and Ayesha's jaws were on the floor. They were trying to close it but honestly I don't blame them for being shocked because same.

Once we get inside the car, luxury doesn't even begin to describe it.

There's six plush, leather seats in the back that face each other in threes. I've never seen this before. There's a window separating the driver from the passengers in the back. There's a digital console beside each of the seats and a TV that's tucked away.

"My beautiful family, Assalamualikum!" Yasir's mother grins. "Would you like the seat warmers or massage chairs turned on?" She asks quite innocently, actually. Not a hint of boastfulness.

"Massage chairs?" My jaw is on the floor now.

"Yes, the seats have built in massage chairs. If anytime you feel as if you need a massage, which I'm sure you'll need after our shopping trip, just turn it on using the tablet in between your seat." She says excitedly.

She looks like she's always dreamt of going shopping like this.

Right on queue, she explains, "Yasir's father had this car custom made for times like these," her smile fades slightly, "However, we never use it because the men in my household are always so busy and never have time to spend together."

"You have us now, auntie. Forget about the men, we'll go on trips together!" Ayesha says, cheerfully.

His mother's smile goes back to its bright state. "Of course! I'll plan tons of trips for us."

Just from that small conversation, I could tell her husband and son don't spend any time with her. She must feel lonely and tries to fill that void with anything and everything.

There's something that I've noticed about the mega rich and the normal families. Many of the times, I'll notice these wealthy individuals are unhappy when it comes to family. They're really busy and barely have time, disconnecting them from their loved ones.

However, the more middle or lower class families, though they struggle with their finances, and that does bring a certain level of unhappiness, their family bond is usually stronger. Plus, they seem to have more happier family memories.

Though each situation is different for each individual set of families, it seems like barely anyone can ever win. Either families are worried about money or not having enough time to spend with their families because of work.

It's weird, huh? Humans can never catch a break.

"Noor? Noor!" Ayesha snaps her fingers in front of my face. "Auntie's been calling you for the past two minutes."

My eyes widen and I gasp, "Oh! I'm so sorry! I'm just feeling a little under the weather." That isn't a complete lie. I've been on the verge of a breakdown for the past two weeks. It feels like one small chaotic event might break me.

Yasir's mother notices and gives me a warm smile as she places her hand on top of mine. "You've been through more than someone should go through in the last few days. I'm just really glad you're now a part of my family. We could use a cheerful, strong person like you."

I couldn't help but feel comfort in her words. Allah works his magic in the most wonderful way.

"Say, auntie... how would you know that she's a cheerful and strong person?" Ayesha asks, teasingly.

Amma smacks her arm lightly. "Ayesha!"

"Ow!" She frowns.

Yasir's mother chuckles. "My husband tells me about your work ethic all the time. He's noticed how much more relaxed Yasir has gotten since you started working. To be honest with you, I think Asad was thinking of arranging a proposal to your family soon. He was actually upset when he found out someone beat him to it. But somehow, it worked in his favour, weird?"

"That's Allah's plan." Amma adds.

"Let me tell you, we almost didn't come to the nikkah. Asad and Yasir had a company meeting but for some reason, Yasir agreed to cancel the meeting so he could attend. That is completely out of character for him." She smirks slightly.

"No way!" Farrah couldn't believe it. "This is all too amazing. Omar's mother made my skin crawl anyways." She rolls her eyes.

"Farrah!" I harshly whisper.

"There's no harm in telling the truth." Yasir's mother laughs. "She could have handled the situation a lot more politely. It was her son's fault."

"Exactly!" Ayesha chimes in.

The rest of the ride, all five of us told stories and laughed about just life in general. By the end of the ride, I became extremely attached to Yasir's mother. She's such a sweet angel, who deserves the world. I'll make sure to give her the same love I gave my parents because she's definitely lacking it from her son.

The car pulls up in front of a boutique and the driver opens the door for us.

There's a woman waiting at the front of the entrance with a welcoming smile on her face.

"Wait... This is the custom boutique that you need to wait over six months to even get a reservation for a viewing." Ayesha's jaw drops again.

Of course, nothing but the best from the Khans.

Yasir's mother smiles proudly. "I want my daughter-in-law to have an endless option of dresses to pick from."

Once we enter, there were mannequins with certain styles of dresses ranging from short, scandalous dresses to big, princess ball-gowns. The little princess in me is about to have a party at this place.

Yasir's mother pulls out a black credit card, "Everything is being funded by your wonderful husband. He asked us not to cheap out, which means, all of you get dresses and accessories."

Farrah and Ayesha squeal and I'm sure I jumped a little too.

"Islam is beautiful... My money is my money, his money is also my money." I say jokingly to my sister and Farrah.

They both look at each other and burst into laugher. "Glad to have the old Noor back."
