You groaned while sitting up in your bed. How did I get here? What happened? The memories that held the answer to your questions were all fuzzy and in a blur. And it's dark? It suddenly clicked with you that Kokichi had given his scarf to you. You pulled it off your eyes so you could see again. Your room was just about as dark as it was when your eyes were still covered.

Your door suddenly opened. You quickly lied back down, closing your eyes and pretending to be asleep.

"...Are they sleeping?" a voice whispered. You immediately recognized it as Monotaro's voice.

You opened your mouth, about to say something when Monophanie went to answer him. "I think they are... Hopefully they are."

"Shut your mouths before they do wake up!" whisper-yelled Monosuke. "This is our last stop. C'mon, and make it snappy." You heard something being placed on the table in your room. You lifted your body up a bit, trying to see at least something in front of you when the bed creaked.

"I think they're awaking...!" Monophanie squealed.

"Oh no!"

"Would you two cut it out!? Get the tranquilizer!"

"Mhm, got it!" There was the sound of something being shot before it finally it you. You gasped; you felt something sticking into your left arm. Unwillingly, you fell unconscious within an instant.

"Rise and shine, ursine!" the Monokubs said cheerfully in unison.

"OFFICIAL-ANNOUNCEMENT-FROM-THE-ULTIMATE-ACADEMY," Monodam spoke robotically. "IT-IS-NOW-8-A.M.. HAVE-A-WONDERFUL-KILLING-SCHOOL-SEMESTER-TODAY."

"If you b*stards haven't noticed already," Monosuke started, "we dropped off some presents in your rooms. Cower in fear! 'Cause hell starts here!"

"So long, bear-well!" The screen flickered off.

You sat up from your bed. Memories of what the Monokubs had done last night came back to you. Whatever they used must have been really strong to make me sleep in this late... You frowned. You looked down at yourself, seeing the tranquilizer dart in your arm. Nervously, you pulled it out—it came out in one swift motion.

"Now that that's taken care off..." Your eyes traveled to your table. This must be the 'present' the Monokubs spoke about. "Time for me to check this out, then." You walked over to your table, picking up what looked like a multicolored Monopad. The back of it read, 'Kubs Pad'. You weren't sure if you should trust it. ...I've got nothing to lose right now. Better watch this before I do have something to lose. You turned the Kubs Pad on, the screen flashing to life, starting to play...a video...?

The screen displayed the words '(Y/N) (L/N)'s Motive Video' in big letters. "Alright!" Monokuma's voice sounded from the device's speakers. "Back by popular demand, it's time for the motive video! Who's the most important person in your life? And now, without further ado..."

A picture of you and your mother came up. It was...a picture of when the two of you had gone out for dinner on that one night. Where and how did that stuffed bear get this!? "(Y/N) (L/N), the Ultimate...Truth Holder. Thanks to their keen eye for the truth in stuff, they have even been invited to all sorts of investigation agencies! How amazing! On the day after they had been given their talent, their dear, sweet mother went missing... Well, the team is happy to present the mother that went missing!" She's...alive?

The picture faded away, being replaced by another picture—one displaying your parent, sitting on the ground with her body helplessly tied to the wooden pole behind her with red rope. There was a pause button right in the center. "Wh-What the hell!?" you cried out.

"Ohh nooooo! What could have happened? Hmm...let's see it for ourselves!" The pause button on the screen clicked itself, turning into a play button before disappearing, allowing for the entire video to be seen.

"(Y/N)," she sobbed. "M-...My only child...! Please, you have to make it out alive! For me!" She turned her head up to face the camera.

"M-Mom...? Is that...really you...?" you whispered. It was. It had to be her. No matter how much you didn't want to believe it. She looked almost exactly like you, with the only exception being her eyes. She used to have the most prettiest green eyes... you remembered. They were always bright, cheerful, and lively. Now...they were just dull, sad, and dead.

A silhouette appeared, growing bigger every passing second. "What... What are you...—?" The screen went black for a moment, but the noises were still present. All you could hear was a hard impact, blood, a gunshot...and then your mom's bloodcurdling scream. After that, it was completely silent.

The darkness went away. For a split second, you could see your former parent's bloodied corpse before Monokuma urgently turned the camera away to face him. "(Y/N), you're not like the others. Oh no no. And, I know that the person you cared about most kinda...well, died! But! If you make it out here aliiiive, then... You'll have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow! I mean future. Trust me, if you survive then I can sense something great comin' for ya!" The Kubs Pad turned off.

You just collapsed to the floor, device still in hand. You were staring at it with wide, tear-filled eyes. This can't be real...but I know it must be. You started shaking. ". . ." The intercom suddenly went off.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)?" It was Kiibo.

"..."

"(Y/N), please, come out! Everyone is meeting at the dining hall to discuss the videos we just got!"

"..."

"Get out here, or we'll bust your door down!" Kaito yelled. So apparently the both of them were together.

"Please, at least show us that you're...alive?"

"...I'm not going out there," you spoke sullenly.

"But this is important!" Kaito seemed to be getting more frustrated by the minute. "Just..." He let out a short breath. "Why can't you join us...??"

"Kaito!" Kiibo scolded him. "If (Y/N) really doesn't want to come out then I'm sure they have a perfectly good reason. Right, (Y/N)?"

"...Y-Yeah..."

"Alright then. It's settled. If you don't mind, we'll come back to you to fill you in on anything that you might miss." Footsteps traveled from your door, out of the dormitory, and then out of hearing range.

You trudged to your bed, still shook. You just...sat there, holding your hand up to your head. Perhaps... No, it would definitely have been much better...if I never looked. I should've kept the scarf over my eyes... You tried to keep yourself from letting loose your tears, which was a much harder feat than you could have ever imagine. It truly hurt.

A weird sensation formed in your stomach. It took you a moment to realize that your appetite was back, stronger than ever. "But...I can't go out..." You held your stomach. "At least...not right now, and not like this." You lied down on your bed, ignoring the agonizing cry of pain coming from inside your body. Maybe, if I can sleep, everything can just go away.

So this is what despair really feels like, huh? Your eyes were still wide open. You sat back up on your bed, resting your head in your hands. I shouldn't let anything that bear throws at me get to me. You sigh before there's a subtle knock on your door. You tilt your head to the side, wondering who it could be. You didn't really want to open up, but you decided that you couldn't hide from the world forever. You tied Kokichi's scarf around your eyes again, as best as you could, and felt your way to the door.

"...Good morning (Y/N)," Shuichi greeted once you opened the door. "Ah, umm..." He must have noticed what was covering your eyes.

"What do you want?" you asked, exhausted. I'm not quite sure you trust me, Shuichi...

"To hang out with you," he replied. "But important things first." He held out a plate of food. "You never came by the dining hall, so you weren't able to get anything to eat. Kirumi was asked to do other things for the others, but she was also worried about you, too. I offered to deliver this for her..."

You slightly pulled the scarf away from one of your eyes to look down at the plate. It has all of the things that I grabbed yesterday... She must have noticed. "...Tell her that I said 'thanks' later... Also, you can come in. You don't have to awkwardly stand at the door like that."

Shuichi blushed, embarrassed, and stepped into your dorm. "I...should also mention something regarding our motive videos that we received. It seems like they've been switched. We all promised to not say who has each other's motive videos."

I don't have anything against that, you thought, but I am wondering... "Why?"

"I-Isn't it...obvious? If one person hears that someone else has their motive video then they'll want to get their video back to watch it. It will only give us a motive to commit murder, and continue this killing game..."

"Fair enough." You walked over to your bed with the plate of food before sitting down to cover your eye back up and begin eating. "So, what's your reason for coming hear?"

"I told you, I...just wanted to hang out."

"Yeah. What's your motive within that?"

"Huh...?"

"There has to be more to it if you're coming here to see me." You shoved a piece of food in your mouth.

"Well... I kinda wanted to ask you about your eyes."

"Knew it... So, what about them?"

"For starters, I guess, um... Why do they change color in the first place?"

"Hmm..." You set down your food to think. "My memory is fuzzy. But I think I can remember some sort of chemical or serum being injected into my eye. Then I think my dad did something to my brain...and I guess it made it to where certain actions would trigger my eye color...? Oh well."

"Wh-When did this happen...!?" Shuichi asked, clearly disturbed.

"When I was young. Really young. My dad was a doctor, though he'd be better described as a mad scientist. My mom was away, giving him the time to experiment on me." You could almost sense the detective's shocked face.

"H-How do you say that so calm!?"

"I don't dwell on things in the past that either don't matter anymore or I can't change." You shrugged plainly, continuing to eat while Shuichi processed it all. A moment of silence passed before either of you two spoke back up again.

"What do the colors coordinate with, if you don't mind my asking...?"

You quickly finished eating, satisfying your previous hunger before answering. "Well, you remember what happened that one time, right? Where you first saw them change?" A quick few seconds of silence passed by again. Perhaps he nodded and hasn't remembered I can't see it. "I'll just assume that's a 'yes'... Why don't you figure that out yourself, huh?" Grey is the normal color. They turn blue for the truth...and purple for when I'm lying, you thought in your head.

"By the way, uhh... Why do you have Kokichi's scarf...?"

"...A few reasons. One of them is just that I injured myself, and I want to cover up the distracting bandage that's on it." Your eyes changed to their vibrant blue, but of course, the male somewhere in the room with you couldn't see that. "And yeah, I may or may not be able to see a thing."

"Mhm..." Shuichi hummed for a second. "But why specifically his scarf?"

"Well, I mean... He offered it to me. It was...actually pretty nice, coming from somebody like him."

"Does Kokichi know about your eyes changing color?" the teen suddenly asked.

"Why are you so interested with this weird happening?" you questioned back.

"Er... It's just weird, how you find the truth to things and your eyes also give away whether you yourself are lying or not." He actually isn't thinking about it this much, is he? You then mentally sighed. "My hat... I used it so that I couldn't make eye contact with others. At least, not good contact..."

"But you used the hat for confidence reasons, right?"

"...Y-Yes," he stuttered. The detective then stayed silent for a while, slowly but surely starting to speak up again. "By the way... Why didn't you come to the dining hall this morning?"

The question caught you off guard. "Huh? What do you mean...?"

"I'm fairly sure Kaito and Kiibo made it clear that we were all meeting up for something important...yet you refused to leave here. Perhaps it was because of something really important...?" Stop it. Shuichi kept going. "And also, you seemed pretty hungry when I gave you the food. Most people would go to a place where food would be at—in our case, the dining hall which we happened to be meeting in—before they starved, but you...didn't." Some Ultimate Detective... "Did...something bad suddenly happen this morning? I believe you are normally one of the first ones awake every morning..."

"What are you getting at?" you asked him, the slightest hint of hostile defensiveness lacing within your tone.

"Did anything weird show up on your motive video? Something that would keep you from going out with the others?"

He... He got it, and without many clues, either. You wanted to chew on your lip in nervousness, but if you did that then you knew that Shuichi would find everything out. "...I was just oversleeping. I think I got drugged...or tranquilized."

"D-Do we even have that kinda stuff in the storage room...!?"

"Like I would know." You had to gather up all of the strength you could to keep from talking in a shaky voice. However, you let out a mental sigh. Seems like he actually bought it...and it's at these times, I'm thankful I can lie however many times I want without my eyes giving it away. "So you're suggesting that someone actually got into my room?"

"Ah, well... I mean, it's a possibility."

"I think it was the Monokubs." You let out a worn out sigh.

"Are... Are the Monokubs even...allowed to do that?"

"I'm not sure, to be honest... Say, happen to know where Kokichi is?"

"...Huh?" Shuichi questioned. "...Uh, well, I'm not sure. Sorry. Why do you even want to know, anyway?" You shrugged. "...If you want, I'll tell Kokichi you were looking for him if I happen to find him?" You shrugged. Again. The detective just groaned in response.

"I think I'll head out now," you told him while standing up.

"Huh...? But...how?"

"I'll find a way." If I don't break my neck first... "Nice hanging out with you. See you later."

"Y-You too." You heard his footsteps head towards the door and outside your dorm. He's gone, now. You sighed. You actually had no idea where to go from there. I guess I can see who's around...

You pulled your scarf down a little so you could properly exit your dorm. It fell off your face, hanging loosely around your neck. It's futile. Out of all things I can't do, it's tying a secure knot from behind. You glanced around the building, spotting Kirumi patiently waiting beside one of the doors. You walked down the small staircase to get on the ground and walk over to her.

"Good morning, (Y/N)," she greeted. "How is your injury?"

"It's doing fine. You did a good job treating it. Thanks for making the food, by the way..."

"Ah, yes. Shuichi just came by telling me your thanks." Kirumi smiled. "But really, I would ask of you to not make a big deal about it. I am just doing my job as a maid. Now that you are here, though, do you have any requests for me?"

"You're really asking for more work...?" you asked quizzically.

"Yes. I have managed to complete my other tasks for the classmates, so now I am available to serve more people. If one is truly an honorable maid, then she must take pleasure in serving others and feel empty in the lack of work." Her face was as calm and professional as always. Kirumi...really takes her job serious, huh? I mean, she is then Ultimate Maid, but... Geez, her respect and selflessness is a bit unnerving. Intimidating, almost.

You shook away that thought for the time being. The only way that I think I can get her to talk to me and hang out would be to make a request... "...I have a request. Uhh, Kirumi...could you keep me company? I'm feeling a bit lonely."

"Why most certainly. Is there anything you like to do that I can amuse you with?"

"For right now, maybe we can just talk...?" Getting Kirumi to completely, one hundred percent talk to me casually is basically impossible. This is as close as I will ever get.

"That is quite doable. Talking helps to express the emotions and make one feel better, which means it also helps loneliness. Is there any certain subject you want to bring up first?"

"..." You mentally cursed at yourself, having forgotten what you wanted to say.

"Please, do not be ashamed. I can simply tell your emotion by your expression," Kirumi said. "Very well, then. Might I ask... Why isn't Kokichi here with you?"

"Hm? Oh, uh..." You put a finger up to your cheek. "...I'm not quite sure. I suppose he...hasn't bothered to check up on me since I wasn't present this morning."

She furrowed her brows a bit. "He isn't being a bother, now is he? It'd be a shame, since you two seem to be friends."

You sighed. "We're not friends." You looked away.

"(Y/N), something seems wrong," Kirumi spoke, concern in her voice. "Please, talk to me about any troubles you may have. It isn't healthy for one to bottle up their emotions and let it sit for a long while."

"Nothing's wrong!" I kind of snapped... "...Sorry. . . Mind helping me to tie this back on properly?"

"I will do as I'm told." The maid walked behind you; in mere seconds was the scarf tied securely again. "And you're positive you want this thing on?"

"...Mhm."

"If you're sure, then."

"Kirumi, you seem so...caring for everyone."

"Well, I am a maid. That is just my duty."

"...How many people have you served?" you questioned, genuinely curious.

"Many people." You could practically hear her humble smile in her voice. "Like...an entire nation. I would do anything for them."

"...Anything, huh?" You thought for a second.

"Yes, for it is my duty to serve and protect my masters."

"Even...kill?"

"...If it so comes to that. My masters come before me anyway, so I have no troubles throwing myself into danger for their sake." Her voice had became serious. More serious than normal. "Once I've had to kill for the sake of my master. I only did what was needed."

"So...that means you've got a...lot of people to come home to...h-huh..?"

"Yes." She said it so...gravely. I bet she didn't even notice my tone... "But for now, I shall do my best in this situation to serve everyone." She...sounds weird.

"...I see," you replied awkwardly.

"Ah, it seems as if I must go right now. (Y/N), would you like me to find Kokichi to guide you around for the rest of the day or shall I escort you to your room?"

"I'll figure things out myself, but thanks for the offer." You heard her walk away. I wonder what this sudden task might be... Anyway, I should get back on track.

I'm in a car to go on vacation for supposedly two weeks. Hopefully I can still work, but at least the next chapter is pretty much finished, so that gives me time...

PS: I forgot to ask, but high school AU Oumasai or pregame Oumasai?
PPS: Okay, I mean, which one would you all possibly like to see first?
