chapter 9

Dhruv's POV:-

Though I didn't know what I was doing, after talking with her made my worries lessen a little. Today I got to see the other side of her. Till now I was only aware of her childishness and naughtiness but today I got to see the mature side of her.

Her words truly gave me enlightenment. As she had said, we both didn't have much of a choice as we both were stuck in the same situation. So instead of avoiding it, we both should face it together.

When she asked me whether I was serious about moving on by looking directly into my eyes, at that moment I realized something that I never knew that I could experience and that realization frightened me a little.

'Shame on you.Dhruv. Aren't you the same businessman who makes your opponent cower at just the mention of your name. Now you are afraid to look into her eyes and is claiming that they became your weakness.' I scolded myself.

I immediately looked away from her, unable to bear the look of that brown misty eyes.

After assuring her with all my might, we both settled on her bike and started our journey. When we were half of the way, suddenly it started raining heavily out of nowhere.

I immediately parked her scooty aside and we both rushed towards a tree to prevent ourselves from getting drenched.

After getting shelter under the tree, I shot her a glare and she immediately avoided my gaze.

"Someone claimed that it would be more fun to go on the bike. Go and enjoy it now. Now we can't go on your baby until it stops raining. I should blame myself for listening to you." I taunted her and in return, she rolled her eyes at me but didn't say anything.

Damn. It's too cold.

I thought while rubbing my hands together. The breeze was so chilly and on top of that, we got drenched while running to the nearest tree.

I turned my head to see her condition. She was shivering like hell while hugging herself closely.

"Aarna." Why did her name always roll out of my tongue so smoothly? I felt my heart pounding in my chest. The feeling I hadn't felt in years had been resurfacing again.

"Huh?" After hearing me call her, she twirled around in confusion.

"Are you feeling cold.?" I asked her.

Hearing this, she immediately put a brave front and shook her head in denial but her trembling figure gave away the truth.

I shook my head at her blatant lie and removed my overcoat to cover her petite figure. I went near her and placed my coat on her shoulders. Feeling the warmth, she immediately snapped her head to look at me.

Awkwardly I backed away a little.

"I can see that you are freezing. So keep it on you." I said without looking at her.

"Then what about you.? Are you feeling cold too.?" She asked me.

"It's okay. I can manage it. I am strong when compared to your weak form." I told her smugly and she scoffed at me.

"Here I thought that you are being nice." She taunted me and I stifled my laughter at her words.

After a while, she wore my coat properly and took out her shades from her bag. After wearing them, she lowered the glasses on her nose with her finger and glanced at me in a sassy manner

"I am looking cool..right. I know it." She asked me while giggling to herself. I rolled my eyes at her narcissistic behavior.

"More of an idiot. Sorry. The clown is a correct word." I mumbled to myself but in a voice that could be audible to her.

"How dare to call me a clown.? I heard it clearly. So don't pretend like you didn't say anything like that." She huffed at me and flipped her hair.

"Thank God. You heard it. Actually, that's my purpose." I told her with a sickly sweet smile to irritate her even more.

"You!!" She pointed her finger at me to scold me but unable to do so.

"Yeah. Tell me." I teased her a little to which she stomped her feet and looked at me.

"You are a big clown. Your whole family is a bunch of clowns. Your ancestors are clowns. Everyone related to you is a clown." She rambled angrily.

"Really! Then the one who I am going to marry is also a clown..right." I asked her innocently and she nodded her head at me vigorously.

"See. You agreed to it by yourself." I told her and it took a second for her to realize what she had spouted.

She immediately marched to me and started hitting me with her fists. I chuckled a little and held her both fists with my hand.

"Okay. I agree. You aren't a clown. Let me make a call." After hearing my words, she stopped hitting me and calmed down a little.

"Who are you going to call.?" She asked me.

"My dad," I said while taking my phone from my pocket.

"To uncle? Why?" She asked me in a puzzled tone and I bit my lips to control my laugh after seeing her muddled look.

Damn. She is too adorable.

"Yeah. I'll call him to know when did he start a side business.?" I told her.

"What side business? Will you say everything clearly.?" Saying these, she glared at me and I raised my hands in surrender after mumbling an okay.

"Wait." After I said this, I took my phone and pretended to dial my dad's number. After that, I kept the phone near my ear and looked at her.

"Dad, I called you to ask something."

"Yeah. Apart from our family business, when did our family start a side business of performing as clowns.? Someone said that our family is a bunch of clowns." I said while looking at her.

Hearing my words, she looked at me wide-eyed and tried to snatch the phone but I dodged her action immediately and still continued my act of pretending to talk on the call.

"Who said that! I won't tell you otherwise you'll feel bad about your own choice." She looked at me and started pleading with her eyes to not say her name.

"Stop asking me, dad. I won't tell you." I said and passed her a slight smile. After seeing it, she immediately released a sigh in relief.

"What! Dad. You can't force me to say it. Okay. If you insist so much then I have to say it unwillingly." I passed her a helpless look and she hurriedly held onto my sleeve.

She was looking like she was about to burst into tears at any moment. I stifled my laughter and cleared my throat.

"The person who said that is, Your soon to be a daughter- " she immediately grabbed the phone from my hand and started apologizing profusely on the phone.

"Uncle. I am sorry. I didn't mean it. I am really sorry. Your family is not clowns but your son is but he is handsome just like you. What I mean, he looks exactly like you but he is a clown and you aren't a clown. God. What am I even saying?." She kept on rambling while biting her nails nervously.

I couldn't control myself anymore and burst out laughing at her apprehensive behavior. Hearing my laugh, she stopped talking and looked at me for a while.

She instantly removed the phone from her ear and looked at the blank screen. After that, she kept on looking at me and the phone continuously without blinking her eyes as if she couldn't believe what's happening.

"You fooled me. You aren't talking to your dad..right." She asked me in an accusing tone and I nodded at her while laughing wholeheartedly.

"You are such a meanie. I thought that you are really talking with your dad. Go to hell." She shouted at me and stomped her way to her scooty angrily.

Seeing that it wasn't raining anymore, I didn't stop her and followed behind her closely.

She sat on her bike and ignited the engine. Seeing that she was going to leave me here all alone, I immediately settled myself at the backside.

"Did I ask you to sit on my baby?" She asked me without starting the driving.

"You didn't but does it look like it matters to me.?" I retorted her and she mumbled something under her breath which I failed to catch it.

After that, she started driving while I was laughing at myself, remembering the previous incident.

"Will you stop laughing? It is so annoying." She said in a tone that laced with irritation and I stopped laughing immediately to not rile her up more.

"Girl. Do you seriously not have any problem with my past.?" I asked her and heard a sigh from her.

"Stop asking me again and again. As I have said before, your past doesn't matter to me as I am not part of it and I don't care about the future, since the future is full of uncertainty. What matters to me the most is the present. I am part of your present. So concentrate on your present, forget about your past, and don't think about the future." She said while driving and I smiled at her words.

Soon we reached my company and I got down from her bike but I didn't go inside instead I stood there for a while.

"Dhruv, don't think too much about our marriage. We both are practically strangers to each other. In fact, it is common in every arranged marriage. They don't know anything about each other yet they felt a kind of attraction to each other and overcome every issue together. This is the magic of arranged marriages. So we can also face everything together like other couples." She assured me and I nodded at her slightly. Upon remembering something, I asked her.

"Why don't you park your bike here? It isn't safe to go alone at this time. Let me drop you. Wait here. I'll bring my car." After saying this, I was about to go to the parking area but she held my hand from stopping me to do so.

"It's okay. I am used to this and don't underestimate my strength. I can handle every situation very well. So go home and rest early." She said and without giving me a chance to respond, she zoomed past me on her scooty.

I shook my head helplessly and still, I couldn't help but felt a slight worry about her safety. So I immediately went to the parking area to get my car and started following her carefully at an appropriate distance without getting noticed by her.

She stopped at the ice cream parlor and had her ice cream leisurely. I stopped my car at the side and sighed at her behavior.

She was enjoying her ice cream without even caring for her surroundings. I so wanted to drag her from there and wanted to give a big sermon on her careless behavior.

After having it, she looked around her surroundings and I nervously bent a little to hide my face. She stopped looking around and started driving to her house.

Seeing her going, I too started my car and followed her slowly. She soon reached her house and greeted the watchman of Indra's house with a bright smile.

She might have sensed something, so she looked back and noticed my car. She tried to peek into the car. So I immediately turned off the headlights and she pouted in disappointment but again she looked at the car and a look of recognition passed her face. I think she recognized my car. She took out her phone and started typing something.

Immediately my phone pinged with a message. I opened it and saw that it was a message from Aarna.

Dude. Enough of following me. I know I am so pretty and cute but you don't have to worry about my safety. Nobody dares to lay a finger on me. I am quite skilled in martial arts. So go home, my child😁.

I scoffed at her bluffing. I raised my head to look in her direction and saw that she was waving in my direction. So I immediately reversed my car and started driving to my company.

All the way, I kept thinking about today's events and her behavior with a smile playing on my lips.

"This girl will be the death of me." I thought and shook my head slightly.
