Some years later...

Nat's POV

-Mum! Mum there is a strange guy watching me playing!- Lily said running to me.

Some years passed and now Lily was 6 years old. I still lived with Bruce and I started a new life.

-Go inside- I said and Lily run towards her bedroom.

I exited and saw a man in the garden: he was so familiar but there were some elements that made me doubt that I knew him.

-Who are you? What do you want?- I asked.

The man approached, I could see he was clearly surprised.

-Don't you recognize me?- he asked.

That voice... I didn't hear thay voice since so long but I recognized it soon.

-James...?- I asked.

The man nodded and tried to approach more but I stopped him.

-Stay away- I said -I don't want to see you never again-.

-You are right, I understand that you are mad with me and I deserve it- James said -I have been so stupid!-.

-Six years James, six years and you never called- I said -It is clear that you don't care about me-.

-I know, I know and you are right to be angry- James -I am not here to ask another chance, I only wanted to see you one last time before disappearing forever from your life-.

James changed a lot in those years, his hair were longer and he lost one of his arms, replaced by a metal one.

-What did happen to you?- I asked.

-A lot of things- he said -When I realized I couldn't have you back I went back to the army, that is where I lost my arm. While I was dying I could only think about you- he said -But I survived, a miracle acccording to the doctor, and I wanted to see you one last time-.

I was about to cry again, even though I promises I would have never cried for him again.

-Mum! Mum Groot is digging in the garden again!- Lily said approaching.

When she saw James she stopped, looking at him and then at me.

-It's ok, he is... He is your daddy- I told Lily.

James' eyes widened: I never told him about Lily, he didn't know he had a daughter before that moment.

-Oh... You are a bad man, mum suffered a lot when you left her- Lily said.

I smiled and kissed her head.

-Go to play inside, ok? I come soon- I said.

Lily looked one last time at James and then run inside.

-What... Is she mine?- he asked, confused.

-Yes, a few days after I left I discovered I was pregnant- I said.

-I bet you live with Bruce now- he said.

-Yes, he... He was there when I needed help- I said.

-Ok...- he said -If you are happy than I am too-.

James started to get away. I don't know where I found the courage to do what I did, but I run towards him and kissed him.

-I'll never be happy if you aren't in my life- I said crying -But I don't want to suffer anymore, I can't live again what happened in London and I don't want Lily to suffer like I did-.

I looked at him in the eyes and then walked back at the door.

-I'm sorry James- I said and closed the door.

Once I was sure he left I sat on the floor, my back against the door and I started crying.
