---------------

Michael didn't mind his job. Sure, it was a pretty big task being a superhero and all but, he was used to it. However, what he didn't appreciate was his powers. His powers... he was basically a walking soda fountain. He was capable of emitting different powers of Mountain Dew Red. It would seem to be a pretty odd power but had actually been done so on purpose, Michael used to be a normal teenaged boy on the streets of New Jersey, however, that all changed when he signed up for his summer job. He didn't quite remember anything from the time before he became his superhero self, just that when he opened his eyes he knew how to breath, had common knowledge of life as it's known, and that he was needed.

What Michael was told was he had signed up for experimenting, which was probably true if they had offered him enough money, and being the humble person he was- Michael obliged, thus when he woke up- he was now capable of squirting the red power drink through his palms and mouth. He constantly tasted the bittersweet tang of Mountain Dew and RED40 dye mixed together, it was just peachy.

Michael never once questioned what his previous life was like, well, no that wasn't true. He had asked once, questioning the people who had made him this way, but was simply kicked out from his home in the company's apartment complex and into their basement. Michael was fine with this though, for some odd reason it felt a bit homey.

Anyway, Michael was told he had been bioengineered to defend the city from Squip. Squip was a supervillain. Michael had never met Squip, for the being of evil had been in hiding doing who the hell knows what, but that was truly about to change.

Despite Michael having super powers, he needed to sleep just as much as anybody else would, however, this morning he woke up to a rather odd alarm, not much similar to his usual Duck Quacking alarm. No, it was a shrieking like sound, it first made its way into Michael's dreams before he woke up with a start, groaning groggily as he looked around at his basement home. He had fallen asleep on his beanbag while playing MarioKart on the PiiU system he had been provided, he got a new gadget every time he had to get a shot. Which was quite frequent, whether it was blood-draws or stamina checks or whatever kind of needle they needed to poke into his veins. He hated IVs the most, especially when they had to put one in his wrist. Uhg, that hurt the worse.

So of course, Michael's basement room was filled with all sorts of Retro stuff, literally anything he asked for- though on the one condition that he had to fulfill his duty to humanity and protect the city and what not. This was chill with Michael, rarely anything bad happened, most of the town was too afraid to commit crimes incase they got drowned by Mountain Dew or thrown into a tornado of the sticky substance. And the squip had been in hiding, so all had been pretty much peaceful.

Had.

That's when the screams seemed to fully reach through to Michael' senses and he leapt to his feet, grabbing his Mountain Dew Red hoodie and his red sweat-pants, of course he also wore a set of red converse and...well, most of him was indeed red, his eyes, the tips of his hair, his clothing, the tinted shade of his skin. He didn't blend in well, but he hardly needed to, his apparel was designed to match the palette of his surroundings, darkening the clothing if needed, such as for night, and brightening it at other times, such as a blinding approach- red isn't the most appealing thing to look at when forced in your face so one could imagine the advantage.

Michael then quickly ran for the stairway and bolted up the steps two by two, bursting through the front entrance of the laboratory apartment complex- not the classiest base, but well hidden. He made his way down the street, the cries of agony and distress acting as his beacon.

Michael truthfully wasn't too afraid of whoever he'd have to face, whatever it was didn't stand a chance against a guy who could summon a refreshment from his hands. This was going to be easy.

Michael was wrong.

So, so very wrong.

When he reached time-square, he was not prepared for what he saw.

The cries were coming to a hushed whisper as those who could escaped, and those who couldn't...well...

"They're in some sort of trance..." Michael pointed out to himself as his gaze made its way to the people gathering in a circle. That's when he saw it. That's when he saw him.

There was a blue figure in the center of the crowd, cackling as he began tossing gray looking specks to the people surrounding him, earning some cheers and cackles in return.

Michael growled in annoyance, balling up his fists before opening them, the fluid produced from his hands strong enough to propel him upwards, continuing to shoot him up as he hovered just outside the surrounding citizens, "Squip? You've been out so long, I thought that you'd gone phishing!"

"You thought I went fishing...?" The squip blinked in confusion.

Michael sighed, "No. phishing!"

"Fishing?"

"Phishing!"

"...Fishing...? I have circuits for veins, idiot, I can't go fishing!"

Michael slapped his hand against his face, attempting to facepalm but only getting a face full of mountain dew red, yelping as his balance failed and he fell to the ground, faceplanting into the asphalt, listening to the nearly inaudible footsteps of the squip as they approached, he groaned and leaned on his elbow, sitting up, "Ph-phishing! As in P-H, you-" Michael stopped when he saw the face of the squip, "...Dork..."

"Dork?" The squip raised an eyebrow, tilting Michael's face up with the tip of his converse, his blue jeans and jacket blinding Michael's vision of him for a moment.

Michael shook his head out of a daze as the sunlight glared off his glasses, disrupting his view he had recently gotten of the squip, attempting to stand up, however, the squip pushed him back down with his heel, steeping down on his upper-back.

"What are you?" The squip scoffed, "I'm not pretending I didn't just see some kind of watery-blood shoot out from your hands?"

"Can't...breath." Michael choked out, taking in a deep and long gasp of breath as the squip released the heel from his back, allowing Michael to sit up halfway, not removing his worried glance from the asphalt, I've never been oneupped...shit... "I-I'm a s-superhero...it's not...blood it's..." Michael found himself caught up in a bit of embarrassment, he hated explaining this to every new person he interacted with, "...It's mountain dew red..." Michael expected the squip to begin to laugh at him, however, instead he shot backwards and glared at Michael.

"Get away from me!" The squip hissed as he let the crowd of squipped townsfolk protect him as body-shields.

Michael let out a small noise of hurt from the words alone, them being all too familiar to him from the countless times he's been told that, he shakily sat up, brushing himself off.

"Get him!" The squip shrieked, pointing to Michael.

In the blink of an eye, Michael was surrounded, he spun in a circle to try and get a glimpse of an escape from the crowd, but currently he saw the only option as up, even if it meant getting the citizens a bit sticky, be clenched his hands and released a wave of the power-drink, shooting upwards and above the crowd, blasting to the tops of one of the brick buildings, the top being conveniently flat. He looked out over the town, spotting the squip who was trying his best to make a quick getaway.

Michael was fast to leap forward, pushing the liquid ahead of him to support his landing in front of the squip.

The squip let out a small squeak of surprise as his eyes went wide.

"Looks to me like you need some tech knuckle support!" Michael threw a punch at the squip's jaw, knocking him backwards and advancing forward. He then pinned the being down with his knees digging into his shoulders.

"I-I'll make them destroy you!" The squip hissed.

"One move and I'll blast your face off." Michael hissed he looked down at his trembling palm, a sign that his powers were growing weaker. Damn I've used too much Mountain Dew... he shook his head, But the Squip doesn't know that. Michael then looked down at the squip "Prepare to crash squ-" He stopped scanning over the squip's face, landing on his eyes, he coughed out in disbelief,

"J-Jeremy?"
