Say no (Old & New)
EDIT: This upcoming edit is one from 3 years ago— EDIT: This chapter was started around a year ago and I just found it now and have no idea what my plot idea was but figured I might as well post what I have so here ya' go! Also I think what the title was implying was Jeremy inviting Michael onto a rollercoaster at the carnival and Michael wanting to say no but doing it anyway and essentially clinging to Jer the entire time
***
"A beach carnival?"
"A beach carnival!" Michael exclaimed once again.
"Really!?" Jeremy gasped in excitement.
"Mhm! Right down on the pier." Michael grinned.
Jeremy put a hand on Michael's shoulder, "Dude. You are my favorite person."
"I know." Michael beamed.
"And like- the bestest of all bestest friends!" Jeremy's eyes seemed to glow with admiration.
"I know, dude." Michael smirked at the praise, stifling a stab of regret at the F word.
"When?" Jeremy squeaked.
"Tonight, at six- I'll pick you up at your house, sound good?" Michael smiled.
"Definitely!" Jeremy nodded, turning around before waving to Michael, "See you then!" He called over his shoulder.
Michael could already feel his heart rate increasing, "Y-yup!"
***
Michael honked on the horn of his PT cruiser casually, outside Jeremy's house.
A faint voice rang from inside the house, "Just a minute!"
Michael let out a quiet chuckle, typical Jeremy and never being on time. Michael was used to it, and it was just one of the many things he loved about Jeremy. And with this thought, Michael's chest was no longer at ease. He began thinking about his plan tonight and what would happen, what would become of him, and what would become of his friendship with Jeremy. He took in a deep breath to relax, only to choke it back out when he saw Jeremy approaching the car.
"H-Hey!" Jeremy smiled nervously as he opened the passenger's side of the car.
"S-suh." Michael coughed, hastily turning on the ignition and slamming down on slammed on the gas pedal the moment Jeremy clicked on his seatbelt as if he could drive away from his problem. And the fact that Jeremy was wearing-
"Does it...look okay?" Jeremy fiddled with the hem of the skirt.
Michael's face was burning red, and he quietly thanked the colors of the setting sun for making it seem like a reflection of light, "Huh? O-Oh- yEAh- it loOks grEaT!" Michael's voice cracked as he responded, wincing.
Jeremy smiled fondly, "Thanks, Micha."
Michael could feel himself melting and his grip loosely slipping off the steering wheel to the point where they slowly started to curve towards the pavement.
"M-Michael!" Jeremy yelped and grabbed the boy's hands, firmly pressing them to the steering wheel.
Michael snapped out of his trance and turned them fully back onto the road.
"What was that about?" Jeremy panted out.
"Er- just- tired- I guess?"
"Want to pull over and we can switch?" Jeremy suggested.
And then not have anything else to do but stare at you? No thanks, I would actually like to keep my dignity.
EDIT: Whoops I forgot to end it— I can only imagine what happened is Michael almost gets them into a car accident and then this happens—
Oh also I'm totally changing the original idea—
"Michael what the fuck, dude!?" Jeremy hissed as the car was now halfway on the curb and the lack of air bags was concerning.
"I-I'm so sorry, I just-"
"We could have gotten killed!" Jeremy clung to his seat.
"I was just-"
"Dude, I told you not to smoke before you get behind the wheel, your driving gets all wonked and-"
Michael scoffed, "I'm not on weed right now, Jer-"
"Sure." Jeremy rolled his eyes.
Michael's own eyes widened at Jeremy's attitude, "I'm not!"
"So you just almost ran into a lamppost twice now because of two different times you coincidentally got distracted?" Jeremy mumbled in disbelief.
"Um- yes?" Michael cocked an eyebrow.
"That's it. We're changing spots, I'm driving." Jeremy sighed.
"No, no, no! Wait! I-I can do it-" Michael fretted. He needed to drive because he was the only one that knew exactly where they were actually going- yes, the fair, but not to the carnival itself, not right away- they had a star-gazing section right off the side of it that Michael wanted to take the other boy to- and...maybe finally grow a pair and tell him how he felt.
"Would you rather I walk? Because either I'm driving, or I'm walking."
"Jeremy, please, you-"
"I'm sick of you lying, Michael!" Jeremy threw his hands up.
"Y-You can't walk around like that anyway-"
Jeremy's eyes went wide as saucers, "Excuse me?"
"You'll-"
"You're saying that just because I'm in a skirt, that means I- I can't walk around in it?"
"That's not what I-"
"I-I thought you were okay with these things, Michael, but this really shows your true colors, doesn't it?"
"Jeremy, that's ridiculous-"
"You're ridiculous!" Jeremy glared, "I-I mean, why did you even invite me, Michael? If you were just going to humiliate me the entire night? Lying, in more ways than one might I add, at driving, at how you feel about me cross-dressing-"
"Jeremy-"
"-And quite frankly, I think I'll just leave regardless of if I drive or not, because you've obviously got some things to work ou-"
"The skirt looks ridiculously hot, Jeremy! How am I supposed to keep my eyes on the road when you're wearing it?" Michael finally snapped.
This caused Jeremy's trap to shut and his lips press together.
Michael comprehended what he'd just said and groaned, covering his face, pushing his glasses onto his forehead.
"Wh-What?" Jeremy squeaked.
"I- look, I'll take you home if you- if you want to, but- I'm not lying, Jer.."
"Y-You think- y-you think I look- look hot?" Jeremy yelped.
"C-Can we just go?" Michael mumbled through a more than red face.
There was the sound of shuffling and a car door shutting.
Michael then felt a hand on his own that covered his face.
Two hands then caressed his and took them away from his face and Michael was faced with the blurry sight of a gently-smiling Jeremy.
He shook his head quickly so his glasses fell on his face and he could see clearly again.
Jeremy looked down in embarrassment, "I'm sorry for- for saying what I did- I was just- really upset that you um- weren't for the skirt- wh-which you obviously are, it's just- you really- think it looks good?"
"I want to kiss you until your lips turn blue." Michael mumbled.
Jeremy looked stunned, "Wh-What-"
"I-I mean, it looks good!" Michael quickly corrected himself.
Jeremy looked down with a small smile, "Thanks..."
"So...home or fair?" Michael cocked his head.
"First." Jeremy moved his hand to cup Michael's face and lean forward, pressing a gentle kiss to the other's lips.
It took Michael a stunned second before he kissed back.
Jeremy smiled against his lips.
Michael giggled in return, "I like the skirt."
"As much as...you like me too?"
"No, I can't like anything more than I like you, Jer."
Jeremy blushed, "That's- That's fine by me."
