Nothing Gold Can Stay| [Part 4]

[And with this, this is officially my 100th part to this series. I know originally I said I'd end the series at 100 parts but...200 might be a better goal, don't ya' think?] [Has a story ever had 100 parts...? I don't know but let's try to make it to 200.] [200 at least that is~]

-----

[I was going to make this a two-parter, but screw it we're making one long part]

Michael's breathing came out as tiny pants as he waited for Jeremy outside the closet. He chose this location because he knew that if they were in a wide ranged area that somebody might interfere, or Jeremy might try leave. Well, no. Jeremy would never purposefully leave Michael, it would be the Squip that would force it upon him. What would he say...what would he say...he just needed to get through to Jeremy, remind the boy why he loved him- something dawned upon Michael.

Jeremy had told him that he'd had a crush on Michael for years, even before the bathroom incident, that Christine was a just a decoy to distract everyone from his true sexuality. This meant...this meant that Jeremy still loved him, despite his memory being wiped, Jeremy had loved him years before the squip even touched him. This filled Michael with hope...and then sadness as he realized that even with this information, even with Jeremy loving him, the boy had still looked at him like he was just a piece of garbage that had gotten misplaced...Michael was prepared to start calming himself when his time ran up, Jeremy was approaching.

***

Jeremy was looking down at his feet as he advanced towards Michael.

"Remember, from how he was talking, he's most likely going to pick a fight, be ready, knowing your...friend...will most likely aim for your shoulders and arms, he won't want to hurt you all that much..." The squip muttered.

Jeremy felt his heart twist, honest to god, he didn't want fight Michael period. He didn't want to ever hurt him...but here he was, harming his best-friend, his crush, both verbally and now, probably physically. This sucked...but the squip said it was right...and there wasn't much left to do about it when his mind was against him, the thing that kept him going was against him, his main control center had a virus...a virus...he'd never really thought of the squip as a virus- but now that he was thinking about that. It was true, "I-I don't want to do this-"

"You have to, Jeremy. Fights are what get you credentials." The squip guaranteed.

"Like...street cred?"

"That word is not part of my vocabulary. But essentially, sure."

"...I-I just don't know I-"

"DO IT." The squip growled at Jeremy.

Jeremy squeaked in his mind, unable to do so out loud, as he approached Michael.

Michael opened the door to the janitor's closet, for Jeremy.

Jeremy begrudgingly stepped inside, Michael won't kill you...he won't even harm you...he's your best friend...er...that is to say, he was...

"Th-thanks..." Jeremy murmured.

"Mhm..." Michael hummed half-heartedly and stepped in after him, though he made no move to turn on the lights as he closed the door behind them, and the room was no longer visible through the darkness.

"S-So, what do you want?" Jeremy gulped nervously.

Michael paused.

***

What do I want? Michael asked himself the question once again...Just...vent...vent to him like nobody's business...that's what you were going to do anyway the first time this happened, right? So do it now do it now, do it n-

Michael began without thinking, saying the clear subject of the manor, "I-I love you." He stuttered. There was no response, and Michael couldn't tell what Jeremy was thinking as he couldn't see the boy's face, then...

"M-Michael...?" Jeremy's voice was a whimper, then a few seconds later, "You're so gay..." His voice was pitched.

Michael flinched, knowing it was to be taken as an insult, and whoah, he couldn't hold take this  shit any longer, "God damn it Jeremy, and so are you, you idiot!" He shouted, knowing Jeremy most likely flinched, though he had no confirmation, "Your squip took your memory, I get that, I know that because I know that if you knew what happened then you wouldn't be standing here, hurting me like some fucking idiot!" Michael was thankful for the darkness now, it hid the streaming tears.

"Wh-what do you mean- what...what happ-"

"We dated, idiot!" Michael nearly screamed, "I received my first kiss, my first kiss with you- and you loved me! We went on dates, and stayed up late and all the god damn time you loved me!  Now you're standing here like all of that is gone! And yeah, at this point, it probably is, it's all one big fucking lie!" Michael was screaming now, "And you and I went through so much and so little all at the same time a-and yeah, along the way you hurt me- just like you're hurting me right now! Killing me even! I loved you Jeremy, over the past months, I love you so god damn much!" Michael was surprised at how often he was cursing, he was pissed, "And so did you and now you're just cutting at me, bit by bit, and you don't even realize! I love you god damnit!" Michael shrieked, falling against the door as it creaked open, allowing a small ray of light that was just enough to reveal Michael's scrunched up, red-puffy face.

***

Jeremy felt like collapsing, in fact, that didn't sound like quite a bad idea, so he did it. He fell onto his knees and fell forward, grabbing Michael into an unescapable hug and letting out a sob he hadn't known he was holding in, all whilst the squip scowled inside his mind, forcing Jeremy's tear-ducts to deactivate.

***

Michael tried to stop crying as he reached for the drink-pocket on the side of his bag and pulling out his mountain dew red, sniffling, he turned to Jeremy and pecked him on the head, he knew what Jeremy's response was and he was ready.

Jeremy leaned towards Michael to try and seal a kiss on his face, and Michael willingly let him come close enough to the point where he was nearly an inch away, and that's when he did it, as quickly as he could, he forced the Mountain Dew Red bottle into Jeremy's mouth, in a manor where he could do nothing but swallow. Michael didn't remove the bottle until Jeremy let out a loud scream of pain, and Michael instantly withdrew the drink, looking in horror as Jeremy fell limp into his arms, and they were back at square-one of this whole mess, an unconscious little twig in his lap, except this time Michael could fix it.

Michael hoisted himself to his feet, as he carried Jeremy out of the closet bridal-style and towards the front of the school. He did his best to ignore the strange glances that he got from his schoolmates as he proceeded through the school's front parking-lot, where his PT-cruiser was conveniently parked and ready to go. Michael's pace picked up when he saw his car and he stopped at the passenger's side, fumbling with the car-door's handle until it opened, he used his foot to push it the rest of the way open and then gently placed Jeremy down in the passenger's seat, leaning him against the wall-frame of the car and strapping the seat-belt over him as tightly as safety would allow, pressing a kiss to Jeremy's cheek before slamming the door shut and jogging over to his driver's side, opening his door and leaping in, backing out of the parking-lot before slamming on the gas-pedal, towards the hospital, all while keeping a hand pressed across Jeremy's face- other than his mouth, so he could breath of course- to prevent the boy from getting whip-lash..

***

Michael was sitting nervously outside the hospital's waiting room, he'd brought Jeremy up to the front desk...still unconscious...and the staff immediately brought him in, slightly scolding Michael for not calling an ambulance, but judging by how fast Michael had been driving the car, out of nerves for his lover, he was almost sure that he went as fast- if not faster- than an ambulance, so it didn't bother him all that much. What bothered Michael was how long Jeremy had been in his room. It had been nearly three and a half hours now and there was no voice from the nurses. Mr.Heere was now...here... and asleep a few seats down from Michael. Michael was beginning to loose hope of ever getting an answer, when there was a sudden flash of movement as a nurse came out of the hospital room, looking from Michael to Mr.Heere and doing a double-take. Michael raised his hand to notify the woman that he was the one to be told the news...to be honest, Mr.Heere was rightfully the one who deserved to know, but Michael wasn't in the mood right now to worry about him at that moment.

The nurse approached Michael, stopping in front of him.

Michael looked up at the nurse and scooted to the edge of his waiting-hall seat, "S-so, how is he? Is he awake? Will he live?" Michael's heart raced at unimaginable speeds as he waited for a reply.

The nurse looked over her form, flipping through some papers before nodding, "Your boyfriend should be fine,"

Michael blushed at the word boyfriend slightly smiling as the lady used the term.

"He just had a minor concussion, nothing huge."

Michael sighed in relief, "I-is he...awake?"

"Yes, in fact, he was just requesting a Michael Mell?" The nurse blinked, looking down from her papers at Michael, "Would that happen to be you?" She asked.

Michael contained his urge to just book it towards the door. Instead, he sprung up from his chair, fidgeting as he waited to be dismissed, "Y-yes, Miss, it is!" He exclaimed, he didn't think his heart could have gone faster, but it did. Jeremy had asked for him...Jeremy had asked for him! He held back a squeal.

"Alright then, go ahead and join him in there though- but nothing too...rough..." She gave a half smirk at Michael, causing his face to burn a fine shade of red as he nodded, bolting down the hall to Jeremy's door and bursting in.

***

Jeremy looked up from his place in a too clean white bed, the room walls, floor, and tech matching the brightly-dull color. He grinned from ear to ear when he spotted the boy, "M-Michael!" He shouted, his voice cracking, he tried to sit up but the IVs and equipment held him down as they tugged at his skin whenever he tried to pull forward too much, "G-get over here n-now." He could hardly stand not being able to just race over to Michael and fall into his loving arms.

Michael obeyed instantly, practically leaping towards Jeremy and halting at the edge of his bed, as to not hurt him.

"Hug me, hug me please, Michael, I need to know you're really there." Jeremy whimpered.

Michael was more than happy to scoop up Jeremy into a hug, pressing his face to his shoulder and not trying at the slightest to hold in the sobs that escaped from his lips.

Jeremy did so as well, slightly hugging Michael back with what arm length he had free, crying into his boyfriend's hoodie, yeah, his boyfriend...oh thank god.

Michael cried into the crook of Jeremy's neck, "I-I thought y-you were going to l-leave me again." He practically wailed.

"Michael, no! Never!" Jeremy sniffled, pressing his nose to the hoodie and taking a deep breath, letting Michael's scent waft around him, making him weaker than he already had been.

"D-Do you r-remember u-us?" Michael whimpered, leaning back to hold Jeremy's face in his hands.

"Yes, yes of course." Jeremy managed a weak smile, "Th-they removed the squip's m-memory damage when they helped my c-concussion." He sniffled, "And I haven't heard his voice o-or felt him in me since then."

Michael let out a pure noise of joy, "I'm pretty sure- no, definitely sure- I'm the happiest guy- gay- on planet Earth right now, Jeremy." Michael began to sob again.

Jeremy rested his chin on Michael's shoulder once again, "I know, Babyboy, I know, I am too, I'm here. I'm Heere..."

Michael pressed a kiss to Jeremy's cheek, "A-and queer." He whimpered, too thankful that his boy was back, "Wh-why couldn't you see me during o-optic nerve blocking."

Jeremy frowned, "The squip m-made it so I couldn't see you unless you bumped into me- or physical contact o-or whatever." Jeremy cried a bit more, "A-and he took away my squeaking capabilities and-"

Michael silenced the boy with a kiss, getting up and moving around the hospital bed to the empty space beside Jeremy, slipping in next to him and wrapping his arms around the boy, causing Jeremy to let out a squeak, a very loud and pleasurable once, as he could finally squeak once more, Michael pressed multiple kisses to Jeremy's face, then pressing his face to Jeremy's neck, "I need to make sure the blocking will be gone..." He murmured against Jeremy's neck, sending chills down the boy's spine.

Michael proceeded to place multiple bruises along Jeremy's neck, considering his current state it might not be the best thing health wise, but it definitely was needed.

Jeremy let out various happy noises as Michael continued to shower him with love.

Michael pressed once last bruise to Jeremy's collar-bone before looking up at the boy with pure joy in his eyes, "I love you so much it hurts sometimes..." He murmured.

Jeremy pressed his head to Michael's, feeling like he was on the verge of tears once more, just by Michael being there, and still loving him after this whole mess, "I love you too..." Jeremy sniffled, leaning forward and resting his head on Michael's shoulder, pressing his first ever bruise to Michael's neck.

Michael flinched at first before the whole of him turned red and heated, "Jesus Jer, confident much?"

Jeremy giggled, a bit embarrassed, as he hid his face in the folds of Michael's hoodie.

Michael let his head fall onto Jeremy's, "Stay Gold, Jeremy..."

So Dawn goes down to day...

Nothing gold can stay.
