(Logan's POV)

Who the heck is Sam? I haven't ever even known anyone named Sam.

"Who's Sam, Hads?" Kyle looking just as puzzled as the rest of us. I guess it was something that Hadley forgot to mention to him.

"Um...... well you see......... SamismyolderbrotherandwhentheapocolyspehitwewereseperatedbeforeImetupwithmyfriendsandIdon'tknowifhe'sstillokayorevenalive," Hadley explained in one breath somehow.

"Hey, hun," said Remy who somehow had a coffee even though we haven't been able to buy coffee in weeks, "Maybe explain that a little slower because not everyone understands speed talking nerd like Logan here."

"FALSEHOOD!!!!" I screamed on impulse, "I apologize that was loud, but in my defense, I didn't understand what they said either."

"Sorry...it's...it's just a lot," Hadley said looking over at Kyle. He took their hand and kissed them on the forehead.

"Breathe," he said softly. "Explain slower."

Hadley took a deep breath. "Sam is my older brother. When the apocalypse hit we were separated before I met up with my friends and I don't know if he's still okay or even alive. If there was one place he would be it would be at the cabin."

"So what does he have to do with any of this?" Roman asked raising an eyebrow.

Virgil punched him in the shoulder. He winced and rubbed it.

"What?" He said. "It's just a question."

"Don't be rude, Ro," Virgil said.

"It's fine," Hadley said they reached into their shirt and pulled out a necklace.

"My dad got each of my family members one of these necklaces," they explained. "I think that if we combined mine and Sam's we could have an antidote. There is a small pocket inside the necklace. There is something in it. I never opened it. My dad told me not to unless it was an emergency."

"Well, I think this counts as an emergency," Remy said.

"That's a good idea, kiddo," Patton said glaring at Remy. Remy put his hands up defensively and retreated to the back of the van.

I shook my head and looked over at Hadley.

"You are a very smart child," I said. They smiled at me and nodded their head.

"Derek, come and drive, please?" Hadley asked clenching and unclenching her fists.

"Yeah, Remy come on," Derek said, nodding to the passenger seat.

"Why me?" Remy asked standing.

"Because I said so, now sit," Derek said starting the engine. Remy rolled his eyes but walked to the front of the van and sat in the passenger seat.

Patton smiled at his brother and then looked over at the back of the van. He bit his lip and walked over to a seat. He sat and placed his head in his hands. No one noticed this. No one except me. I walked over and sat next to him.

"Patton? What's the problem?" I asked in a soft voice. He looked up at me, wiping away the tears that littered his face.

"Nothing," he said too quickly.

"Why are you lying?" I ask raising an eyebrow.

"I...I'm not...I," Patton stuttered. He replaced his head in his hands. He sighed. "Goodness, Lo this is insane."

"I know," I said hiding my smile at the nickname. I cleared my throat and adjusted my glasses. "We will be okay. Everything will be okay, Patton."

"I hope you're right, Lo," Patton said grabbing my hand. I stared at our joined hands but didn't move. I smiled and wrapped an arm around Patton. He buried his face in my shoulder.

"I really hope you're right," Patton said.

"I know, Patton. I am. I am right," I said.

But I wasn't sure if I was trying to convince Patton or myself.

Derek

I drove down the long highway in silence. I tried my best to keep my eyes on the road but my one eye was bothering me. I couldn't help but close it and re-open it. Trying in vain to understand it finally hit me. The zombie scratched my face. They must have damaged my one eye. I reached up and touched my face where the scar was. That couldn't be good. I'll talk with Hadley and Logan about it tomorrow.

"So why did you make me come up here again?" Remy asked staring at me.

"Oh..." I replied. I looked at him then looked away. I should just tell him. "I just enjoy your company," I said softly.

He looked away from me as well. He smiled. "I enjoy your company too Derek."

"Glad to hear it," I said drumming my fingers on the wheel. "This is all so..."

"Insane," Remy finished. I looked over at him.

"Yeah...insane," I replied. I reached over and brushed the hair out of his eyes. "But, Logan and Hadley are smart. They'll figure this out."

"Yeah, the fate of the world rests on a science teacher and a teenager...very reassuring," Remy said.

I couldn't help but laugh. He looked at me.

"What are you laughing at?" He asked.

"You..." I said after I had finished laughing. He looked away.

"Somehow...we all ended up together...that's something?" Remy asked looking back where everyone else was.

"What do you mean?" I ask not turning my head.

"You haven't noticed?" Remy asked turning his head towards me.

"No..." I replied.

Remy perked up at this. He stared at me wide-eyed. "Seriously?"

"Yes seriously, just tell me," I replied taking my eyes off the road to look at him He smiled.

"I swear it's like we all ended up here with our significant other," Remy said shrugging. "Virgil and Roman are totally falling for each other."

"What makes you say that?" I ask. He nods over to where Virgil is standing with Roman. Their talking and Virgil is laughing.

"Logan has a thing for Patton, he constantly checks on him to make sure he's okay," Remy continues pointing to were Logan and Patton are sitting together. "Emile fell asleep on top of Remus the other day. We all know what happened with Thomas and Jon."

"Okay...well what about Alex, Alicia, and Lucy?" I ask starting to understand.

"Their lonely, they'll get over it," Remy said blankly.

"Wait then that leaves..." I start. I looked over at him and blush.

"You and I," Remy said. "I know." Then the realization hit him. "Oh...sorry."

"No, no, it's really okay," I said a smile creeping onto my face.

I'm glad I met Remy. He makes me feel...happiness.

Something that I hardly felt before all of this and something that we all could use a little bit of during this crazy time. I think he's right.

Amazingly, we all meet each other.

And I'm really glad we did.
