Terrornuckle- Colors

Brock's POV

The cold August wind brushed against my exposed skin as I shivered. Wrapping my hoodie tighter around my body for warmth a grey, dull bus pulled up to the bus stop. I was the first one on the bus, like usual, so I automatically went to the spot I always sit at. Leaning my face against the cold glass I watched the world seem to fly by me. I sighed at the same grey, black, and white... everything. Everyone had a specific color they could see and the rest was colorless. For me though, everything was dull, blank, and boring. Yet beautiful in its own way.

Most of my peers knew I couldn't see a certain color, so I often got bullied for it. Although this happens I just remind myself that I'm special in a way no one else is. Most people would see me as an outcast, but I see myself as something much bigger and better. Everyone should except who they are no matter how different they are. Being different just makes you a little bit more human. I smiled and my posture even seemed to get more comfortable.

The bus stopped and more kids got on the bus. I closed my eyes and relaxed knowing that it would be awhile until I actually got to school. My brain often wandered off leading to me starting to eavesdrop on the kids in front of me. I hated when I did that because everyone needs privacy. Well, if it was really private they wouldn't be talking about it on a public bus... No! It's bad and I shouldn't listen to their conversation!

My fingers twirled around the string attached to my hoodie in boredom. As more people got on it caused even more people started talking about me. I didn't let it get to me, because why should it? Most of them have never talked to me anyways. I looked out my window and saw a big, tall, grey oak tree planted in the middle of a park, but it's bare. All it's leaves had fallen to the ground, exposing every branch to the world. But it stayed tall. I internally laughed at how strange I could be.

Time flew by and before I knew it the bus arrived at my school. Kids all rushed when the bus doors opened, letting a cold breeze fly in the metal vehicle. I waited until everyone had gotten up and passed my seat before I stood up. I thanked the bus driver, as I always did, and got off the bus. A smile grew on my face as I saw my friends waiting for me at the front of the school. Most people at school found us weird and don't talk to us. We don't care though.

"Hey Moo! 'Bout time you got here!" My friend Jonathan, or Delirious as he likes to be called, told me.

"I take the bus and always get here at this time," I replied.

"Why do you two always say the same thing when you see each other?" Craig, or Mini, asked.

"Just accept it," Bryce said while giggling.

I felt a tug on my sleeve and looked down slightly to see Lui looking up at me, "Brock, Delirious stole one of my gummy worms," He whined in his squeaker voice.

I stared at Delirious like a mother would and he visibly paled, "N-no I didn't! You're lying!" He argued.

"You're the liar!" Lui argued back.

     "No you are!"

     "No! You are!"

     "NO-"

     "ENOUGH!" I shouted.

They both looked at me with fear. My glare dropped as I sighed. I looked back at them and they were both scared as to what I was gonna say next.

"I'll get you both gummy worms after school," I told them.

Both of their eyes lit up with joy and relief as they started thanking me multiple times. I rolled my eyes and smiled at them. Eventually we made our way into the school and parted ways since we didn't have Advisory together. I was actually happy that they didn't because my crush Brian was in my Advisory along with a couple other classes.

I walked in and noticed he was already there which made my heart beat faster. I sat down in my usual spot and noticed Brian and some of his friends were whispering and glancing over at me. This made me shift in my seat uncomfortably. They never made fun of me or anything so it made me worried that they were clearly talking about me. I don't think they even knew I couldn't see a certain color. Did somebody tell them and now they find me weird? I hope not.

I got the courage to look at Brian and noticed he was blushing while protesting something to his friends. It was kinda loud in the room so I couldn't hear what he was saying. He sighed, stood up, and turned to face my desk. I blushed and averted my gaze to the window.

"Uh, hey. Brock right?" He asked.

I looked up at him and felt my cheeks heat up, "Yeah. That's my name..." I cringed internally at my sad excuse of a response.

"Um, so I just wanted say... uh.." He glances around nervously, "Well I just think you're really cute and sweet so I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me sometime or even just hanging out would be fine," Brian ranted.

My eyes widened and my throat went dry, "O-oh yes-! I mean, well, I'm fine with that."

"Cool! Well here's my number," He handed me a small folded piece of paper, "Do you think I could sit here and talk to you? Just to get to know you more or something?"

I nodded my head yes and he took the seat next to me. Brian and I talked for what felt like forever. We talked about our hobbies and other things like that. It suprised me that we had so much in common.

"So what color can you see?" Brian randomly asked.

I paled and felt my heart sink, "Well, uh, I... I can't see any color."

"Oh I'm sorry! I didn't know! I probably should have, gosh, I'm so sorry Brock!" He apologized over and over again.

"No no! It's okay! You didn't know," I assured him, "What color can you see?"

"Okay, if you're sure. Oh, and I can see orange," He told me.

I was about to say something when I noticed Brian seemed as if he wanted to say something. I waited for him to say something but he didn't.

"What do you want to say?" I asked.

He jumped in surprise and grew nervous, "Oh... Well you know how if you touch someone and see every color because they're your soulmate?"

I raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Yeah. What about it?"

"Could I maybe... uh..." He glanced over at my hand.

I was a bit confused at first but then nodded, knowing what he wanted. He placed his hand on mine and everything was still colorless. Brian sighed and opened his mouth to speak when all of the sudden the world flashed with color. I shrieked and jumped which moved my hand away from his in the process. The whole class went quiet and looked towards us.

     "W-what just happened?!" I shouted.

Brian was blushing madly and I covered my hand when I finally realized what just happened. My shock turned to happiness in an instant. The class continued talking and ignored us.

     "Brian-."

"Are you okay with this?" He asked, cutting me off in the process.

"Of course I am!" I replied.

An idea came to my mind. I reached for Brian's hand and held it tightly. We both gasped as everything was bright and colorful. The first thing I did was look at Brian to see him in full color. My eyes widened at the sight of him. He was somehow even more beautiful in color.

"Wow," Brian whispered while looking around.

I could only nod. We both just looked around most likely making us look crazy to everyone else. Out of everything that could've happened today, never in my life did I expect this to occur.

"So how about right after school we go on a date to the park?" Brian asked me.

"Is that even a question?" I asked back.

He laughed, "I guess not, but you never know."

I was gonna say something when I remembered I had promised to buy gummy worms for Delirious and Lui. I almost laughed at myself for being so concerned about buying my friends gummy worms after everything that just happened.

Brian's grip on my hand grew tighter causing me to look at him. Our gaze connected making our eyes look at each other. I smiled and gripped his hand tighter as a response. He smiled back at me, making my heart melt.

Yeah, the gummy worms could wait.
