Chapter 1

DELTA BRIGADIER, PAXUS LOTERIEM SYSTEM EN ROUTE TO ORILION PRIMUS

Kartina slowly rocked from her uncomfortable position that she had been in for the last twelve hours. She groaned in pain as she took in her surroundings. She was in a large jail cell only it was enveloped by a large ionized blue shield. She glanced to the bars themselves and noticed that they were ice cold with frost, no wonder she felt chilly when she came to.

"Well, well," A male voice said from a far corner in the very dim room. "Wakey, wakey, Raxin doll."

Drawing her attention to the source she, saw a darkened silhouette and footsteps echoed behind it. Although it was so dim and dark, Raxins were heavily gifted with partial night vision, though not perfect. She saw the silhouette to shape into a man with tech armor suited for the Terran government of the Human Space Force.

"Ahh a Terran merc," She huffed. "I knew something smelled off."

"I thought my cologne was subtle Raxin," the guy chuckled. He turned left typing into a holopad near her left. Soon the the dark began to diminish and there before her was a 6 ft tall black male with dark brown eyes, piercing as the sun, his face clean shaven and cropped military style haircut. He carried an assault Legionnaire rifle; basic stature rifle with a low recoil and higher ammunition output, black sheen coat made of a polymer that was stronger than steel loaded with superheated incendiary rounds. He smirked. "Welcome to Delta Brigadier supermax transport prison for collected bounties. I apologize for not being hospitable before. I try to make everyone comfortable until their trial and all."

"Yeah I remember now," Kartina spat, her red-green eyes focused on the man standing before "You guys had been chasing me for a while. What took you so late by Captain Jack Reeves?"

"So you know who I am?" The man said, looking impressed. "I must carry quite the reputation out there."

"Hardly smartass," Kartina said, rolling her eyes. "You are by far, the worst mecenary I've met so far. I thought you guys were good. Yet it took you forever to catch up. Are you guys that dense? Wait, don't say it because you might burn up as brain cells you may have left, if any."

Reeves crouched down to his legs and simply remained silent. Then he chuckled, " I wasn't even trying Raxin girl. Besides the prey is more bountiful if it runs. It makes no sense to just go and wrap things up. The hunt is more impressive."

"Oh that's just great," Kartina retorted. "A Terran who thinks he's a hunter. Please, people on my planet would put you to shame. Your tactics suck. You Terrans seem to forget that other species out here in this galaxy are way older and wiser and have already stepped past your current evolution. But of course Terran arrogance and all-"

"I'd watch what I say next Raxin bitch," Reeves said. " Because as it stands, this arrogant Terran captured a little Raxin cornered like a rat. I'd advise you sit tight in your hole here, because this cell was made especially for you. Have fun."

He then stood up and walked to an elevator door heavily plated to withstand blast and gre bases, typing into the Hilo pad and waiting as the lift came down. "Also a bit of good news. Your buddy Alex escaped our radar. But he will be found after we drop you off."

Kartina gritted her teeth as she sat back against the wall watching Reeves walk into the loft smirking her in spite. The doors closed as she sat analyzed the situation and area around her. Four corners of the cell each with a hitch of thermogrenade capsules loaded no doubt to blow if rigged slightly. Well that's if there was something cold to offset her body heat.

She simply signed as she thought of Zex, a fellow friend from her family planet Orindan. She had been good by through information from the RSO,(Raxin Spec Ops), a special force task group on gathering information on other races in case of war. For the past few years she had been chasing a lead about a ship her grandfather described as being a hell raising weapon of doom back in the last Galactic Era where the older races were against the Saris Empire.

However they defeated the scourge  upon the galaxy and sent them into a different galaxy altogether. No one knows what happened after to the Saris Empire, but good riddance. But her grandfather had found a star map left by the predecessors known as the Ancients that pointed to an area of the outward galaxy that would lead to the ship. Only it had disappeared way before she deciphered it. She had been searching ever since going through a race that was greedy enough to steal it from her.

Ever since Terrans made their appearance in the universes, they made sure to establish dominance that mirrored the very Empire that was gone. That made some see them as a threat, hence why it was time to put them in their place with a ship that would teach them a lesson. She settled down as she planned until a voice broke through her thoughts.

"So it's true that a Raxin is aboard the frigate," It said. "What a surprise."

"Who are you?" She said aloud.

"Now now," It said sounding very male like. "No need to yell or shout. "It's hurting my ears."

"You don't tell me and it's going to hurt more." Kartina snapped. "Now again, answer my question."

"Hmm," the voice said. "If I help you escape this prison, you agree to take me with you , and I'll tell who I am."

"That's a big thing order buddy," Kartina scoffed. "What makes you think you can escape?"

"I'm just good at these things," He replied. "For now call me Nemus. Now do you want out or not?"

"Aren't you trapped," Kartina asked. "How can you get out?"

"I'm not confined like you. I came willingly," Nemus replied l. "Besides I have my reasons of detaining myself willingly. Now you out or no?"

Karina felt hope in her chest, although she had to be very wary of Nemus as he could be laying a trap for his own gain. Then again, if used correctly he could be a potential player to help offset any guards.

"Alright. Get me out of this cage."
