Talk about deja vu. I had been in this same situation just a week ago and I wasn't too fond of it. All I wanted was for the Earth to be rid of Galvatron and his stupid little minions for good. You'd think Megatron or Galvatron or whatever the hell his name is, would be tired of this planet by now considering every time he's tried to take control of the planet, he's been defeated by the Autobots.
I was getting sick of all this war shit though. Aside from ridding the planet of Galvatron, I wanted nothing more than for all of this to be over. I hated being in danger and I also didn't like the fact that my family was constantly in danger as well and I didn't just mean Gracie, Lynleigh, Jason, Uncle Josh, and my dad. I meant the Autobots and the soldiers as well.
They always fought hard for us, and even after all that the humans have done to them, they haven't forsaken us. That's something that confused me yet gave me an incredible amount of respect for them. Their determination and bravery is what has kept us all alive and today would be the day that I would repay them for it.
Just like a week ago in New York, I was hidden behind the ruins of some structure with Lynleigh, Jason, Gracie and Uncle Josh. The Autobots, the soldiers, and my dad were out on the battlefield fighting the enemy robots. Explosions and gunshots rattled the inside of my eardrums while dust and debris clouded the atmosphere.
"This is the last time I let some dumb ass government official encourage me to build an army of robots. You're going to save the world, they said. Just listen to us, they said. DAMNIT. I'm so sick of this shit!" Joshua exclaimed.
I gave him a look.
"Now is not the time, Joshua!"
Another shot sounded and before I knew it, a missile exploded on the ground beside us, causing me to scream. Jason grabbed my hand and lead us towards a large pillar. Dust and dirt sprayed us and we slid down to take cover from the fire.
Lennox, Epps and my dad came running over to us, several items in their hands. They were covered in gun powder and dirt which is something that disgusted me, not that I looked any different.
"Here. Put these on and quick," Will said as they all handed us a bulletproof vest and a weapon's belt.
I put on the vest but stared at the belt.
"What am I supposed to do with this? I don't know how to shoot a gun!"
"Just take it! You remember what I said back in New York? You're a soldier now, Rosalie!" Will remarked.
I just sighed and tied the belt around my waist. The weapons made it kind of heavy, but other than that it was very comfortable. More explosions sounded and we all ducked in cover. After the building debris stopped falling, everyone steadied themselves and Epps began talking.
"Now, we've got Galvatron on top of yet another building in the center of the city. The building is about two and a half miles from this location. Optimus, Crosshairs, Sideswipe, the twins and the two wreckers have already scouted ahead.
"Our plan is to surround Galvatron. We're going to get rid of as many of his mechanical henchmen as possible. We've got the Royal Australian Air Force and the Australian Defense Force coming to help us out as well. We're going to get rid of these retched things once and for all, got it?" he explained quickly.
We all shared an understanding nod.
"Good. Now, let's get to it!" he exclaimed and started running towards the battlefield.
My dad and Will followed closely behind him and the rest of us soon caught up. I really hoped we weren't running two and a half miles in all of this mess. I wasn't fit enough for all of this.
Gunshots sounded behind us and I turned to see a large red mech with his gun aimed at us. My eyes widened in fear and I ran faster.
"You need to run!" I yelled.
Everyone ran as fast as they could. The bot continued shooting at us, luckily for us it kept missing. As we ran, I noticed a familiar red figure run by. I recognized the bot as Dino and slid behind a telephone pole to watch him fight the bot. The others questioned me, but I just ignored them and continued watching the Italian mech.
His swords protruded from his arms and he quickly sliced the right arm of the enemy bot off, ridding him of his gun in the process. Dino jumped onto the roof of a building and sent his grappling hooks flying towards the menacing red bot. The bot let out a cry of pain as the hooks dug into his frame. Dino only laughed and yanked his hooks back, causing the bot to slam into an electricity pole. Before I saw what happened to the bot, a hand latched onto my wrist.
Will was standing in front of me, his hand tightly latched around my wrist.
"We have to go, Rosalie."
He dragged me up the street towards the Autobots, my family and the other soldiers.
"Please tell me that we're not running two and a half miles to get to Galvatron," I called over the loud sounds of gunfire.
"No, we're not," he said.
Without warning, I was shoved into a car. Bumblebee's alt mode for that matter. The door shut and he sped off down the ruined streets, easily avoiding all of the obstacles. In the passenger's seat sat Gracie and Jason was in the back.
"Where's Lynleigh?" I asked them.
Jason gave me a dumb look and pointed out the windshield to Hound in front of us.
"Where do you think?"
I rolled my eyes at him. The ground beneath me trembled and I fell back in my seat. The seat belt suddenly tightened around me in a protective gesture and I noticed Gracie's seat belt was holding her against her seat as well. Jason wasn't strapped in at all, and instead was looking out the back windshield. I tried as hard as I could to shift my body so I could see what he was looking at, but Bumblebee had me strapped in tight. I sighed, giving up my struggle and settling back into the seat.
Another explosion caused Bee to shudder, but his speed didn't falter. I could spot Optimus and the rest of them out in the distance and Galvatron was leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Bumblebee skidded to a stop by Optimus. The seat belt was removed from mine and Gracie's torso and the doors to his alt mode opened. I quickly hopped out as did Gracie and Jason.
My dad, Uncle Josh, Lennox, and Epps all stood by Australian Military vehicles along with a bunch of other people in weird uniforms. Lynleigh was standing beside a now transformed Hound.
A shot from above hurtled towards the ground, landing right in the middle of our circle. Gracie and I were pushed back by a metal hand. Bumblebee took a protective stance in front of us while the Autobots ran off to stop Galvatron.
"ALRIGHT. If we want to survive, we had better get a move on. Yellow, you cover fire and red, you cover high," I heard an Australian soldier say to Bumblebee and Dino.
Had the situation been different, I probably would've gushed about his accent to Gracie, but now was not the time.
Bee backed away from Gracie and I and headed a few hundred feet down the street while Dino hopped on top of a roof on the opposite side of the street.
"Now, we need to split up. I need you two girls to go with Lennox, his team, and Jason here. Yellow and Red are to accompany you. The rest of you lot are to follow me. Let's get going," the man said as he sat down in his fancy army vehicle.
Lynleigh and Hound raced over as he was loading up the many army vehicles with soldiers, my dad, my sister, and my Uncle Josh. As soon as they were loaded up, they sped off.
Shot after shot after explosion rang in my ears and it was giving me a piercing headache. Bumblebee came running back to us and Dino jumped off of the roof of the building he had been on. We turned back to Lennox and his team. Will was taking out a large grenade looking thing from his bag.
"Okay. Once we have Galvatron where we want him, this will be what we use to end him, okay?" he explained.
"What is it?" Gracie asked.
"A grenade packed pull of a freezing solution. A solution much colder than when Megatron was being held at Hoover Dam in cryo-stasis. You don't want to be anywhere near this when it explodes," he explained to her.
"So, what do you use to launch it?"
He gestured to a machine strapped onto his back. I could only assume it was some type of grenade launcher.
She nodded in understanding.
"We don't have that much time. Let's get to it," two different voices said.
Bee stood behind me, his hands on his hips in an impatient notion. The soldiers nodded and started jogging up ahead of us. Jason grabbed mine and Gracie's hand before following behind them. The two Autobot's footsteps could be heard behind us.
We came to a street and in the middle lay over turned cars and dead bodies. I stopped at the sight of a child sitting in the middle of the two mangled bodies of a man and a woman on the street. She was young and looked to be about three or four. From this distance, I could see that she had dirty blonde hair and light eyes. I could also hear her cries from where I stood at the alley entrance.
Without thinking, I let go of Jason's hand and ran towards her. I shoved through the many soldiers in front of me and out into the rubble. Behind me, I heard Jason and Gracie calling my name, along with the very familiar sound of Bumblebee's footsteps. I ignored them all and rushed over to the crying little girl. She heard me approaching and looked over. Fear suddenly took over her features and I slowed to a cautious walk. She cried as I knelt down beside her, careful not to shift the bodies of what I assumed to be her parents.
"Hi, sweetie. It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you," I spoke to her.
I heard several footsteps behind me and turned around to see the whole squad walking towards me, my brother and Gracie in the front. I stopped them with my hand and turned back around to the little girl.
"Rosalie! We need to go! Come on!" I heard Will yell at me.
Annoyed, I turned around and shot him a glare.
"No. I am not leaving her here," I shot back and turned to face her.
Her crying had calmed but the look of fear was still fresh on her face. I gave her a small smile and reached my hand out to her. She shifted backwards at first but quickly recovered and stretched her small hand towards me.
"Can you tell me your name, sweetheart?" I asked her.
"Avewy," she said softly in her little baby voice.
"How old are you?"
She held up two tiny fingers. I gaped at her. She was really smart for a two year old.
"Well, Avery. Would you like to come with me? I promise I'll keep you safe, sweetie."
She wiped her eyes and gave me a small nod. I held my arms out to her and she lifted her small arms in my direction. I picked her up and carefully stepped over the remains of her parents.
Behind me, most of the soldiers had dispersed and the only ones left were Epps, Lennox, three of their men, Gracie, Jason and then Dino and Bee. Majority of them glared at me, but I ignored them and walked over to stand by Bumblebee. Lennox looked at me and then at the toddler in my arms.
"Are you serious? Risking our lives because of a child?" Lennox chastised.
I glared at him.
"You listen to me, William. You have a kid at home don't you? You would've done the same exact thing if that was your little girl out there. And you told me I was a soldier, did you not? Last time I checked, soldiers are supposed to help people. I wasn't just going to leave her out there," I remarked.
He just looked at me before walking past me and through another alley. Epps gave me a smile before following him, along with the rest of his men. Gracie and Jason walked up to me.
"Explain to me how you're going to manage to keep yourself from getting killed with her clinging on to you," Jason said.
I frowned and Avery laid her head in the crook of my neck.
"Look. .I promised that I'd keep her safe. Right now, I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about her and the rest of you," I told them.
I held Avery tightly in my arms and quickly walked passed Bumblebee and into the alley.
