ch. 19: An Unblinking Death

Diego and I were sitting in the bar, having a drink when Hayley walked in with a stake.

"You done got some nerve coming up in here, Mama," Diego told her.

Hayley pushed Diego onto his back. He jumped up, growling.

Hayley pushed me against a wall, shoving a stake into my chest, just missing my heart.

Diego stopped, calming down.

I was amused more than anything.

"Someone attacked my pack in the bayou this morning, and since the only genius mastermind-types I see around here, is you, why don't you just tell me what the hell you did, or just tell me where Marcel is, and we can all get on with our day, huh?" Hayley asked.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

"You think I'm playing?" Hayley asked. "There were families out there."

"He used to keep a place," I told her. "1917 Patterson. If he's still around, he'll be there."

Hayley ripped the stake out of my chest, turning to leave.

Diego looked at me.

I smirked, shaking my head.

Kieran's hex had come full circle, not only driving him crazy, insane, but murderous and vicious enough to try and kill Cami, turn into a vampire, only for Klaus to kill him again.

In Marcel's loft, I sat with Josh and Diego.

Marcel walked into the room. "Kieran is dead." He looked at Josh, sitting down. "Did you get it?"

Josh sighed, reluctantly handing a key on a necklace to Marcel. "It was around his neck, just like you said. P.S., I do not feel awesome about this."

"I know," Marcel told him. "But people are gonna be coming after this. Cami is not ready for that, not yet."

"So, what now?" Diego asked.

"Storm clouds are gathering," I told them, pouring each of us a drink. "Someone bombed those wolves, and we know it wasn't us. Witches, humans, vampires, wolves. City is at a breaking point. We need to be ready."

We all drank.
