The Race
"Just one ride! Please?" Drew pleaded with me.
I rolled my eyes at him and took a bite of my ice cream. For the past twenty five minutes this man has done nothing but beg me to drive my Camaro, or in this case, Bumblebee. To be honest, it was completely killing my vibe, and it even made my ice cream taste bad. Had I known that this is what he was going to be doing the entire time he was here, I would've never invited him up. I was about three seconds away from punching him in the face.
"How many more times do I have to tell you no?" I countered.
"You don't. You could just say yes to make this easier on the both of us," the little shit smirked.
I just sighed and focused on finishing my ice cream. Drew was going to be the death of me. I thought that having him around was going to help me heal quicker, but it wasn't. I wanted to stab him with my ice cream spoon.
"Hello," I heard a voice say. I looked over to see Brooke walking into the kitchen. Maybe she could save me.
"Hey, Brooke."
"What's goin' on with you two?" she asked as she sat down at the table.
"Nothing. We're just about to go head to head in the biggest race Chicago's ever seen," Drew answered.
I nearly choked on my ice cream. "No we're not, Drew!"
"What's with all the yelling?" Bee asked as he walked into the kitchen.
"She's just mad because she knows I'll beat her in this race we're about to have," Drew smirked.
Without even thinking, I threw my ice cream covered spoon at him. It hit him in the face before falling into his lap. I really hoped it hurt him.
"Whoa, what race?"
I glanced at Bee before looking at Drew. "There is no race happening. I've been telling you that for the past half hour."
"Come on, Rose. Okay, how about we make a deal? If you win--which you won't--I'll give you five hundred dollars. If I win, then you have to sit in a tub filled with live tarantulas," he responded.
That sounded oddly appealing to me. Well, the five hundred dollars did; I wasn't exactly happy about the tub full of spiders, but since I knew I would have the upper advantage I didn't care.
"Fine," I said as I yanked him out of his chair. "Let's do this shit."
He, along with Brooke and Bumblebee, followed me out the front door. All of the Autobots were lined up in their normal spots in the driveway, so I pushed Drew towards them.
"Take your pick, hotshot," I smirked. "I personally recommend the Bugatti. It's the fastest, in my opinion."
Drew gave me a look. "You're using reverse psychology on me, aren't you?"
I only crossed my arms and shrugged. Just as he was about to speak, the front door burst open. Lyza, Gracie, Lynleigh, and my brother all stormed out. I assumed they wanted to see what the hell was going on out here.
"Hey, what are y'all doin'?" Lyza asked.
"We're racin', baby," Drew smirked before running over to Bumblebee.
"No! You can't have him! He's mine," I growled as I ran after him. I heard Lyza mutter 'oh my gosh' while Lynleigh, Brooke, and Gracie just laughed.
"Is he now? And since when are cars referred to as males?" Drew inquired. Did I say he? Oh fuck.
"Since I said so. Find another car, Drew. Nobody drives mine. I'm sure Crosshairs and Drift would love it if you chose them," I chuckled.
Drew blinked, and I could practically feel the two Autobots freeze in response.
"You name them too? Gosh. What's this one's name?" he asked as he gestured to Bumblebee. "Wait, knowing you you'd probably choose some very accurate name like Bumblebee. It makes since. Yellow paint job, black racing stripes, and not to mention the tiny Bumblebee hanging on the mirror."
I heard several coughs behind me, but I disregarded them and looked at Drew. "You're right. Now are we gonna do this or not?"
He simply smirked and ran over to Crosshairs. I would have much rather him choose Drift, mostly because Drift was a lot less of a dick than Crosshairs was, but it was too late to turn back now. Crosshairs would just have to get over himself for a couple minutes.
I hopped into Bumblebee's alternate form, and almost immediately his engine started.
"If you make me lose I will literally kill you, Bee," I grumbled.
The next thing I knew the passenger's side door was opening, and Bee's holoform was getting in.
"Why would I make you lose?" he chuckled as he closed his door.
I smiled at him. "I know you wouldn't, but I'm just saying. Patch me through to Crosshairs's com-link please."
Once I heard the faint sound of static disappear, I knew I was in.
"Hey, Drew."
"Whoa, what the hell? What kind of high tech cars are these?" he exclaimed.
I just shook my head at him. In time he will learn.
"Listen," I started. "We cannot race through the fucking city or we will get in trouble. But there's this dirt road about a mile up the street that could serve us as a track."
"Okay, I'm listening."
"The first one to complete it three times and get back home wins. I'll lead the way and then we'll start, okay?"
"Alright, let's roll."
I smirked yet again and disconnected the com-link before pulling out of the driveway, with the help of Bumblebee, of course. This is where I had the advantage. Before the battle of New York and Australia, Bumblebee and Jason would come up here all the time. That's the reason why the two of them always came home looking absolutely disgusting. I didn't care about that now though. Bumblebee knew this road better than he knew anything on Earth, so if we lost I was probably going to rip his optics out.
"So, I have this idea for when we win," I said to him as we drove down the street.
"Oh gosh. Is it something mischievous?"
I rolled my eyes. "Don't you dare act like you're against doing mischievous shit, Bee."
"I'm definitely not. It was just a question, Rose," he retorted.
"Well, I wanna freak Drew out. So, when we win and get back to the house I want you to transform," I laughed.
He let out a sigh. "I want to tell you that this is a bad idea and that we shouldn't do it, but I can't."
I smirked. "I knew you couldn't say no to me."
He just scoffed and rolled his beautiful, synthetic eyes. "Should I do it before he returns or after?"
"After. It'll freak him out even more."
"Okay, let's do this."
Bumblebee and I arrived at our destination in under a minute, mostly due to Bumblebee's need to drive seventy miles over the legal speed limit.
Once Crosshairs and Drew arrived, we wasted no time in starting this stupid little race. Like I said before, I had the advantage over Drew and Crosshairs. Bumblebee knew each and every single one of the turns which meant that I really didn't have any kind of work to do, not that he would trust me to be in control of his alternate mode anyway. The race itself lasted about seven minutes, well for Bee and I it did. I nearly threw up in his cabin due to the fact that he had absolutely no respect for people when it came to doing stuff like this, but I was just more than happy that I won. It just meant that I would be $500 richer.
Bumblebee and I soon pulled back into my driveway. The sight of my friends and family standing in the driveway made me rethink what I told Bumblebee before the race started. No matter how much I wanted to freak Drew out, I did not want to freak them out. I would save that for the trip to KSI tomorrow.
"Okay, so don't transform anymore. I forgot about the Brooke and Lyza factor," I told Bee as he parked.
"Got it."
I quickly removed myself from his cabin and approached the four girls standing in front of me.
"So, Lyza, I really hope you don't mind that Drew is paying me five-hundred dollars for winning this dumb ass race," I chuckled.
She blinked and shook her head. It appears as if she had absolutely no clue this was happening, but I wasn't surprised. Drew was so used to making decisions without thinking about it. It was funny.
"I'm going to kill him, I swear."
The next thing we knew, Crosshairs was pulling into the driveway. The moment he was parked a very annoyed Drew hopped out of the vehicle. He slammed the door shut--which wasn't exactly the smartest thing he could have done--and walked over to me. He dug in his pocket for a few seconds before pulling out his wallet, and before I knew it I had five one-hundred dollars bills in my hand.
"Why thank you, kind sir," I smirked as I shoved the money into my pocket.
"I shouldn't even give you that money. I saw Brayden in the car with you. For all I know the two of you switched spots," he remarked.
"Not exactly," Bee's voice sounded. I looked over to see his holoform walking towards us.
Drew scoffed. "Then why'd you go with her?"
"To make sure she was safe." Bee winked at me, and I found myself smiling.
"Don't be so upset, Drew," I started. "Tomorrow you'll understand just why I'm a much better driver than you are."
"And what is that supposed to mean?"
"I guess you'll see tomorrow. You all will," I replied, gesturing to Brooke and Lyza. "Anyway, thank you for the money. It means a lot." I kissed Drew on the cheek before running back into the house.
*This chapter is incredibly boring, but I haven't updated in forever, so I felt as if now was the time. This is really just a filler chapter for the next one and it's lame, so I completely understand if you don't like it. To be honest, I don't even like it, but it's going to have to work for now. Please comment and vote. It would really mean a lot to me. Thank you so much. I love you guys.*
