Today, Josh brings Tyler flowers. He didn't know what kind the sick boy would like, so he got a small bouquet of white daisies. He puts them in Tyler's water jug, because he didn't think to buy a vase. Tyler's not drinking a lot of water, really, anyway, so he gives the go-ahead.
The flowers seem to cheer him up a bit, but Josh is concerned. He keeps coughing, and his voice is a little raspy, like his throat is sore.
At first Tyler does lots of talking, about his family visiting him and what it's like staying in the hospital, but then he breaks off into a coughing fit, and Josh makes him rest his voice.
He talks for the both of them, telling him stories about school and things he's learned recently. He tells Tyler about his friends, and his home life, and how he might be getting a job this summer.
Tyler listens to all of this, nodding now and then, maybe asking a question in a soft voice. For the most part, though, he stays quiet.
They hold hands again. Josh should probably be worried about getting sick, as well, but if he hasn't started feeling feverish yet, then he'll probably be alright.
He just hopes Tyler will be.
