It's Snowing, But I Love You.
The world was white, grey and
black.
The ground was blanketed with thick, crusty snow. The roads were dangerous now, due to the icy coating that lay across the surface.
Bane was lost.
He was all alone, cold, shivering and coughing badly.
He was in the middle of a slippery street, with no vision, blinded by the sludge that claimed to be snow.
There was a great hole that had been dug out of the road, to put new piping down under the concrete.
There were no barriers up, to warn anyone about this deep pit.
Alas, they had been blown away.
Bane, unaware of the disaster that could happen, skidded across the street, propelled by the wind.
He was heading toward the roadworks...
The snow was cold, and fell down heavily on the world. It landed on Bane's mask, gunking up his filters, making it much harder to breathe.
Choking and spluttering, Bane drew nearer the pit, it's mouth open wide, ready to swallow him.
Just as Bane was about to fall into the hole, and unseen hand grabbed him, hoisting him up and away from the danger.
Moaning and coughing, barely able to breathe, Bane was set down on a building top.
The storm started to slow now, its snow falling lighter and hitting the ground less hard.
Batman began to appear in Bane's view as his eyes were cleared from snow.
Batman had seen Bane tumble in the road, grabbed his crush's waist and rescued him.
It was hard for the knight to stay with Bane, hard for him not to talk.
Gently he cleared Bane's mask and brushed off the snow pellets that had gathered on his head.
Bane looked up, and saw Batman's deep blue eyes.
They gazed at each other for a while. Then Batman shook himself and looked away.
I mustn't. I'll stumble and fall like last time.
Batman left Bane and walked away to the edge of the building.
With one step, he was gone.
Bane watched in awe as the black cape fluttered briefly in the air then disappeared with its owner.
He reached out his hand slowly, as if to try to touch the memory.
The storm had come to the end of its lament, and now the snowflakes drift to the ground, graceful and elegant.
Batman watched Bane from his perch on a gargoyle. Looking down on him, he saw the snow caress the man he loved so much.
And as he watched, he was covered by a thin layer of soft snow, like a warm blanket...
