Batman's POV

Selina said that she wanted meet with me. After I had done gotten patrol, it was a quiet night-not a lot of activity-I came to her apartment.

It was dark inside so I couldn't see if she was here. Hesitantly I step through the window to her apartment.

"Selina?" I call out in a slight whisper. Silence.
"Catwoman!" I call again, in a desperate attempt to make sure she's here... hasn't gone anywhere or... or-
"I'm here, handsome." She answers, slipping out of the shadows, still in her suit. She interrupts my thoughts and smiles mysteriously.

I don't know where this is going or why she asked to meet... but I didn't feel like playing her version of cat and mouse... especially when she's the cat.

Catwoman's POV

When I asked Bruce to meet me here... I wasn't expecting him to come. Anxiety boiled up inside me as I attempted to seem calm and collected, despite the news I had to share.

I stepped closer to him as he looks at me with a serious face. I chuckle wryly.
"What? Aren't you happy to see me?" I say, putting a clawed finger near his cheek. There's no doubt in my mind that are many possible bruises and scars underneath that mask...
"What do you want, Selina?" He asks me, his voice stern but curious and concerned nonetheless.

I stop and turn away from him.
"I... have to tell you something." I explain, turning back around once there was enough distance between us.

Batman's POV

Her face turned serious and I wondered what that meant.
"What is it?" I ask curiously and she seems hesitant.
"I... I don't know if you'll like the news I have to share." She explains, rubbing her hands together as easy as she could with claws.

I move closer to her and she watches my movements intently. I take off my cowl and stare down at her.

Catwomen's POV

I watched as he stepped over to me and then took off his cowl. He looked down at me with the most sincere, warm eyes and said,
"Tell me." I stared at him for a moment looking at his expression. It's an expression I don't deserve. I take in a breath, take off my own mask and look at him with saddened eyes.
"I'm pregnant, Bruce... and the baby is yours."

Batman's POV

I stand there for a moment, shocked into silence.

"Are you sure it's mine?" I ask, to be sure. Selina scoffs.
"Ah, no. It's obviously one of my associates or my friends. Definitely not the man who I have an intimate relationship with." She says sarcastically, a gleam in her eyes.

I bit down the idea of grimacing when she refers to the other Gotham rogues as 'associates and friends' and roll my eyes.

"Alright. Forgive me for asking if this new life is possibly mine!" I replied and it was her turn to her roll her eyes.

It goes quiet and a suggestion pops into my head.

Catwomen's POV

"You could stay at Wayne Manor." My eyes widen at the suggestion and I back up a little, too shocked.
"I... no! That won't be necessary. But... thank you." I reply with a shy smile. He doesn't say anything for a moment but then nods.
"Alright, goodbye Selina." We hesitantly both go in for a kiss and then he flys out my window, into the night.

I finally sit down on my old, patched up couch and take a breath.

Ok, I think, the worst is over. I just told the billionaire Bruce Wayne who secretly moonlights as Batman has a child...

God! What have a I gotten myself into?

-WAYNE MANOR, A FEW HOURS LATER-

Bruce's POV

I got out of the Batmobile, changed and headed upstairs to Dick, Barbara, Stephanie, Tim, Jason and Cassandra all huddled together on or near the couch in the living room watching some TV.

"Welcome back, sir. I presume your meeting with Miss Kyle went well?" Alfred asked, seeming to appear out of nowhere and I nodded, smiling slightly before he heads towards the kitchen.

"What did she say?" Barbara asked from the couch as the others attempt to shush her from interrupting the show announcer.
"Did you kiss her?" Stephanie asked with a few pieces of popcorn in her mouth as she sits in the middle of the couch in between Tim and Jason.

Everyone turns to her immediately.

"What?! It's a simple question." She replies defensively, spilling a few of the popcorn kernels out of the plastic, green bowl.
"Uh...yes. I did-and that's none of your business, Stephanie." I scold with a bat glare and Stephanie dismisses me.
"Whatever you say, Bruce!" She quips and Barbara fully turns herself towards me, impatient.
"Well??" I sigh.
"Yes, she told me something. Very, very important. It may impact all of you." I explain as Cassandra turns the tv volume down so they all can hear me. I swallow and then decide to just tell them.

"Selina is pregnant... and the child is mine." I see their faces become different but the same: shocked, confused and silent.

"Oh... ok." Tim is the first one to speak, but I can still see that he doesn't completely understand or is unable to process this, like the rest of them.
"Well... um, congrats. I guess?" Barbara replies, trying to take in the news. It's awkward, but the moment is saved by Alfred entering once more to tell me dinner is served.
"Will any of you be staying?" I ask, mostly referring to Barbara, Dick and Jason, since they do not live in my home.
"Uh... I would, but I gotta get home." Barbara explains, standing up and giving Dick a quick kiss before leaving the room. Jason leaves soon after and in a few minutes Dick also leaves, getting an emergency alert from Blüdhaven.

That left only Stephanie, Cassandra and Tim.
"Uh... you know, I don't think I'm hungry right now, Bruce. I think I'll just go upstairs." Stephanie explains, getting up from the couch as Cassandra nods before she and Tim follow her upstairs.

I sigh. I figured the news would be hard for anyone but... I didn't expect to go this bad.

I suppose I'll just have to eat dinner alone.

Author's Notes

I've decided to switch to only fonts to indicate POVs as I've realized how distracting it is (and to me feels disorienting as we switch over to author's notes). Hope you're all cool with that (and hopefully I remember to incorporate that in future chapters/books)

You know, because I am using the old book for reference, it definitely makes me happy (and a little embarrassed) on how far I've come and also just makes me miss simpler times.

This book came out right before 7th grade started. Specifically June 2nd, 2016 although I don't think I started uploading til the beginning of August.

I don't like everything I wrote in the dialogue but I was still learning (I continue to learn how to make this fanfiction, four years later with 900 followers. Wow. That seems like such a short time!) so looking back everything feels rushed... but I also remember the joy when I wrote this series. It wasn't the best work... but it's what got me here and I'm forever grateful that people were willing to give me a chance and I'm grateful that I pushed myself to take this chance. It could've ended badly, and while there are some bad days, I'm glad I found this site and a place to work on books where I don't have to worry about if it's worthy enough to be published or not and I can just... have some fun and just relax :)

Uh... well, I'm glad I'm making these like the original because I feel like I would be sad if I didn't incorporate them somehow. It makes me realize how far my writing has come in just four years.

I also wasn't expecting it to be so well received!

So, I hope I make past me proud :)

I think in trying to make them more comic book accurate, I make them less comic book accurate. Bruce doesn't seem like an eye roller to me-

By the way, here's some changes and things that stayed the same in the original text:

•First, you may be wondering why this is set on earth 16 (AKA the universe where Young Justice happens). That's because in the third book, Indescribable, which focuses on the Batfamily's kids they eventually join The Team because the author said so :) No! That's not true. I'm kidding (slightly). It was because I was watching Young Justice at the time (just getting into it. I think I was in the middle of the second season-basically before S3 came)

•The cat and mouse quip Bruce makes is 100% word for word in the original book. From this point on, I will always copy and paste the original text into the book and write new text if necessary, to give me an idea of I actually wrote in the scenes and what I can change. So, most things will be the same in spirit rather than word for word.

•Bruce is much less stoic in the scene with Selina at her apartment then in the original. I feel like it works for Batman, but not if the two are alone in private. Especially since in the original he PUSHED HER AWAY when she got closer. My god, past me, what were you thinking-

•In the original, it was Selina who initiated the kiss and not Bruce, and it was right as he was leaving, not while he was in her apartment (and it wasn't a forehead kiss).

•Selina had no after monologue of what she had just done and how she going to figure it all out in the original book

•I did change descriptions, etc just slightly. It just makes it all flow better and makes the dialogue less awkward.

•I changed the 'did you kiss' line from being Jason's dialogue to Stephanie's. In the original, Stephanie, Cass and Tim weren't in this scene (it also just seems more like a thing Stephanie would ask rather than Jason)

•Originally in the Wayne manor scene, Bruce entered through the front door. Which doesn't make sense now (or then) since he's got his suit on. I chuckle a little thinking about how that would play out lol

•I have the Batfam watching TV instead of... uh, just sitting around?? I think that's what they were doing before because Past Me makes no mention as to what Barbara, Dick and Jason are doing aside from that!

•I also just had the baby reveal be a little more tense since in the original, there's a description of some silence, annnd... then the moment is ruined when Barbara says she has to go home. That's it. That was the end of the reveal lol

•I never mentioned this in the original fic, but I will tell you all how everyone's living situations work. Barbara lives with her dad, Dick lives mostly in Blüdhaven and Jason has his own apartment. Tim continues to live with Bruce (he's like somewhere in his late teens at this point) and so does Cass. Stephanie mostly stays at her father's house (which is explained sort of in a later chapter), but because he's a criminal and she doesn't really want to be around him, she mostly crashes at Wayne Manor. I don't really know how she will work but uh... let's just make it like FOX's Gotham and not address it! (Though, lowkey, I actually kind of like the show. And the memes are funny. Not to mention, when you really think about it, the show is basically like a comic in a different medium because comics usually bring people back from the dead and have crazy plots, like Gotham does. Not sure about the evil twin thing tho. I think that's just the show trying to be like a soap opera for plot convenience. Not to mention they couldn't use the Joker which pisses me off because we are all aware of alternate universes. I don't see the issue with having two jokers on tv and movie screens at the same time-)
