It was a nice warm autumn day in Gotham city. The leaves on the trees had turned to different shades of red, orange and gold, and just outside of the big brass gate of Wayne manor leaves covering the ground was Kim, the best friend of Dick Grayson while growing up in the Circus. She was part of the tightrope team, and a pretty good detective because her and Dick always foiled the ringmaster's plans to cut time from each act and other plots. Her dark hazel eyes widened with joy to see her best friend again after the passing of his family the flying Graysons, her family the balancing Baileys retired two years later and took a job at an orphanage helping kids find home's. She took a deep breath and opened the door as it squeaked and shut with a long heavy thump. She walked to the door and was greeted with a sweet heartwarming smile. It was Alfred, Bruce Wayne's Butler.

"hello miss Bailey it's so nice to meet you. Master Dick will be so happy to see you again" he said with a sweet tone she smiled at him and walked in taking in the beautiful design of the room with the large decor "It's so nice to meet you too Alfred, Dick has told me so much about you but he doesn't know I'm here right? Bruce called me and asked for me to come and surprise Dick for his birthday" she explained but as soon as Alfred could respond they both hear footsteps coming down the grand set of stairs and a big full voice say "hello Kim it's so nice to finally meet you I assure you that Dick has no idea you are here" "I'm so happy to meet you Mr. Wayne" she said shaking his hand "Mr. Wayne was my father, please, call me Bruce and Dick is in the library I can take you there." He said putting a hand to his chest.

she nodded her head and walked with Bruce in amazement of the architecture and design of the manor as they walked down Bruce and her talked about how it was like working at an orphanage and she said it was great and she finally found some kids a home and how excited she was when the other workers said you were on the phone and wanted to talk to her, when they finally made it to the library "I'll go in first to distract him and you walk in and surprise him" Bruce said in a whisper she nodded her head as he walked in, leaving the door a crack open, she could hear what he was saying and then she saw Bruce winking at her and she slowly walked in very carefully over to him and said "well Dick looks like you aren't excited to see me after all these years.".
