(21) Stuck
Bendy pulled away blushing, embarrassed and a tiny bit ashamed. Why did he say those things? In front of everyone it made him want to hide inside an ink puddle for life...
"Guys, can we be in here alone, please?" Mickey asked politely. Everyone left except Minnie, who gave him a dainty hug and a peck on the cheek before glaring at Bendy and leaving. They closed the door.
Only Mickey and Bendy we're in the room.
"...So," Mickey started.
Bendy laid down, tail flicking like a cat's.
"I don't think you realize just how sorry I am."
Mickey looked at him and smirked. "I can tell."
"Shut. Up."
In unison- "I'm sorry."
Bendy chuckled. "Well that was embarrassing."
"For you."
"Huh?"
Mickey leaned back on two pillows.
"How you had just... Been so nice, and... Caring... I respect that. Ozzie... Well, he doesn't like seeing people close to him getting hurt."
"I know how that feels."
"Yeah?"
Bendy twiddled his thumbs. "Him."
Mickey didn't really need Bendy to elaborate on that.
After a beat Mickey murmured softly, "You can sit over here."
Bendy gave him a curious, wide-eyed expression.
"Our souls....l... I can't."
"Just get over here."
Bendy shakily obeyed, and sat as far from Mickey as possible while still staying on the bed.
Mickey leaned over and took Bendy's regular hand within his.
"Can you show me your soul?"
Bendy felt a jab of fear cut through him. "M-Mickey? Why?"
"I just want to see it."
Bendy looked into Mickey's eyes and saw a ray of sunshine. Without taking his eyes off of the male mouse he slipped off his glove and willed it to show itself.
"Mickey. Do you want... To hold it?"
Mickey felt scared. He slightly nodded, and Mickey reached over with cautious hands, and cupped the soul food him, arm tense with hidden fear.
"It's okay," Bendy whispered. "Holding it isn't going to crack it, ya know."
Mickey nodded, feeling foolish. He admired the inner light peeking through the cracks. He thought back to the first vision... With Joey and the bills and the gorgeous light that spilled from Bendy's split head.
"The bills," Mickey murmured softly. "The light..."
Bendy's heart thrummed fainter and fainter the longer Mickey carried his soul, studying it like a scientist finding a planet for the first time.
Mickey overturned it in his hands to the bottom, where he noticed with increasing worry was dead. He looked at Bendy, an touched the dark spot. It triggered Bendy's face to slacken into a moody look. Mickey murmured Bendy's name l, as the demon looked into his eyes.
He silently reached for his own soul back, and Mickey obeyed.
He clutched it. But as he retrieved it, and looked at the bottom, he could see...
The darkness in one spot was beginning to fade, rebirthing its own beautiful light.
"Mickey," Bendy murmured in awe.
"What... Did you do?"
