09: missed you

▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

Jaemin felt horrible.

He never intended making Do Hyunjin's appearance a big deal. But he didn't think about how the other would feel.

Donghyuck didn't come to the hideout the next day. Or the day after that. And because Donghyuck didn't come, Renjun didn't come either.

Jaemin felt even worse than usual. He really thought his friends would understand. But not even Jeno understood how Jaemin could search for help.

Jaemin wanted to see Renjun and talk to him. He wanted him to understand why he sought help.

But Renjun didn't come to the hideout for a week. And he never answered Jaemin's texts or calls.

Jaemin sighed when he realized the only way to see Renjun was going to school.

Jaemin felt weird when he looked at himself in the mirror and saw his beaten face and the bright yellow school uniform on his body. He felt uncomfortable but he needed to speak to Renjun. With a heavy heart, the boy shouldered his school bag and left his room, hearing his parents scream in their bedroom.

He looked down at the floor when he heard his father call his mother bad names but turned away and left the house. He didn't need any more bruises before going to school.

Outside the sun was shining. Jaemin smiled. When they were younger they would compare Donghyuck's smile to the sun and gave him the nickname "Full Sun. Renjun would always complain how Donghyuck was the Sun in their group so Jeno once called him "My Moon", making the Chinese lad blush like crazy.

Jaemin was jealous at how easy Jeno and Donghyuck could make Renjun happy. Whenever Jaemin said something to Renjun the older boy would turn away or ignore it. And it was making Jaemin sad. He was one of his best friends after all.

Jaemin shook his head and rushed to the bus station. He wanted to be at school early so he could catch Renjun before latter entered the classroom.

Renjun was baffled when he saw Jaemin leaning next to the classroom door. His hair was messy and his look was by his shoes. "Na Jaemin, what are you doing here?" Renjun asked but then realized how stupid his question sounded. "You're going to school, of course. Stupid me." He laughed a bit and looked around. Donghyuck would probably get furious if he saw him talking to Jaemin.

But the truth was, Renjun missed Jaemin. And because Donghyuck was too angry at what had happened with the Streetworker, he didn't want to meet up again. And because Renjun was Donghyuck's best friend, he tagged along.

"I need to talk to you, Injun."

Jaemin was the only one that called him 'Injun' and it made Renjun's heart beat a little faster. "Yes?" He stuttered nervously playing with his tie. "I'm sorry for what happened back then. I never wanted y'all to get angry because of me looking for help. I swear Hyunjin didn't track me down to find y'all. And judge you all."

Renjun looked at Jaemin and sighed. "Donghyuck is devastated," Renjun said. "The way that Hyung came into the hideout and took away his whiskey was too much for Hyuck. You know he needs it to calm himself down." - "He's abusing it, Renjun. Stop protecting him."

Renjun ignored Jaemin's remark about Donghyuck and sighed. "I understand why you looked for help. It's hard living with a monster and a Mum that doesn't do anything." Renjun looked at his hands. "I mean I get professional help for my heart and my mental health as well. But Jeno and Donghyuck don't want that. So you need to understand that they're angry."

Renjun bravely took Jaemin's hand. "I am glad you came to school today. I missed you." He whispered and passed by the younger boy to enter the classroom.
