Speaking

In this chapter I'll show you how to make book character speak.

When characters in your book speak you put quote signs around them like the example below.

Percy looked at Annabeth and said, "Under the Sea is an amazing song."

You put commas before you write they're going to say something.

Percy looked at Annabeth and said,

Sometimes you don't need to say when someone says something if only a certain character would say it like,

"Shut up seaweed brain"

Only Annabeth would say that

Or

"You're going down Prissy"

Only Clarrise would say that.

Try not to sound stilted if your character isn't, for instance can you imagine Apollo saying this?

"doeth thou still drive as terrible as thou used to?"

No, Apollo would be like

"Yo Thalia, you still as horrible at driving as you used to be? I get sea sick just thinking about your driving"

Or he'd make a haiku.

Sometimes two words that sound the same aren't

Your: you own it, its yours

You're: You are

No: deny refuse

Know: you know what it means, you have learned it, you understand it

To: for someone

Too: as well

Two: one more than one

See: you look at some think and see it

Sea: Where Posidean lives

Here's another tip,

I comes before E except after C, or when its in ei as in neighbor and weigh

Use lots of spacing, its easier to read that way
