ASHAMED
↳ CHAPTER TWO:
ASHAMED ↵
❝IF YOU HAVE TO ASK IF YOU'VE HURT HIM,
JUST KNOW THAT YOU DID.❞
There was nothing left in my district for me to say goodbye to. Not my family, no friends, no places that held memories. Well, there was one person who I could think of, and even then I felt bad to make him watch his only friend set up to die.
I felt ashamed for a moment, realising how short my life had been and I hadn't done anything to be proud of.
I guess I did deserve to be in the Hunger Games. I deserved to die.
Immediately after leaving my family for the last time I walked with two guards who directed me from the rooms we were in and pushed me into a compartment on a train.
The lights in the compartment were bright and I raised my arm to shield my sensitive eyes. Once my eyes had adjusted to the drastic change in light, I slowly lowered my arm to survey the room.
I bit my lip, noticing the other person in the room. It was Bishop, the thirteen year old boy who was picked with me. I had forgotten about him.
His eyes followed me as I slowly walked through the fancy compartment until I fell into a chair beside him. The train and furniture were completely silver and windows were wide, encompassing most of each wall to show off the scenery we would pass.
I smiled weakly at Bishop, however my eyes showed how dead I was inside.
The compartment door slide open and Bishop and I stopped talking to look at the newcomer. My breath stopped and I paled.
He looked so good.
His figure moved into the room and I let my eyes go to the window to watch the scenery fly by. The footsteps were slow and soon they stopped and from the corner of my eye, I knew he was towering over me.
Silence filler the train room and I closed my eyes, waiting.
"I-I'm gonna head to my room," Bishop muttered, noticing the tension that filled the room. I let my eyes follow his movements as he slowly stood up, grabbed his jacket, and walk out of the room. Not once did I let my eyes wander, and now I let my gaze fall to my lap.
"Willow," he mummered, staring down at me. I knew he was looking down at my small figure and I couldn't look him in the eye. I closed my eyes, trying to stop the tears from falling from my eyes.
He turned away from me and I immediately reached out and grasped onto his hand. "I'm sorry," I whispered.
"I broke my promise, I-I'm sorry, Finnick."
