Confessions

Time has always told how life went. Whether it was when it was time for someone close to you to die, or for you to loose another friendship. Time always knew.

Walking over to the crime scene, I examined the tracks while ignoring the talking going around me and sighed. Barry was late...again.

"Anything?" My other best friends dad and a detective asked me after he was done talking to the Captain.

"Why doesn't Barry tell you? He'll be here in three, two, one." Just as I predicted, Barry arrived at the scene.  I've always been good with time. Whether it be keeping track of what time it was to counting. Time was easy for me.

"Sorry I'm late, Captain Singh" He exclaimed, out of breath. He looked up and his eyes met mine and send me a quick smile and I swear, the butterflies were going to make me explode. Ever since the eighth grade, I've had a major crush on him. Sadly, he had his eyes set on our other best friend, Iris. I accepted it, even though it was painful and almost everyone knew about our crushes.

"What was it this time, Mister Allen? Did you forget to set your alarm clock? Before you answer, I should remind you, the excuse you gave last time was car trouble. Wanna know why that one was particularly memorable?" The captain stated to him while Barry answered.

"I don't own a car." He awkwardly looked down and I almost stepped in but Joe beat me to it.

"He was running an errand for me." Joe replied before staring Barry straight in the eye. "Barry, did you get me what I asked for?"

With wide eyes, Barry replied a quick "Yeah." before his mind finally came to and he nodded. "Yeah, I did." He quickly searched his pockets before grabbing something. "I have it right here." He pulled out a chocolate bar with a few bites taken out of it and winced slightly, "I had a few bites of it." He stated awkwardly and all of us looked at him weirdly before he cleared his throat and turned to the crime scene. He looked at me and I saw that the awkwardness washed away and he now had his confident work face on and nodded to me to follow along with him.

Barry bent down next to the tire tracks and examined them. "Getaway car is a Mustang Shelby GT-500. Shelby's have a rear super-wide tire specific to that model." He looked closer and made a 'hmm' noise before looking up. "There's something else." He stated before getting up and walking over to the captain. He grabbed a pen that was hanging inside of the captain's pocket and walked back to the tracks but not before saying a quick "Thanks."

Bending down next to Barry, I tried to hide my blush from being close to him and looked at the stuff that he picked up with the end of the pen. "Fecal excrement." I stated loudly before examining it some more. "Animal, I'd guess." Barry nodded next to me and put the pen into an 'evidence' bag  while he was doing that, I looked at the captain and he looked downright angry.

"My dad gave me that pen." He stated before looking even angrier. "Before he died." Barry's eyes widened and he apologized quickly before sighing.

After that was over, we all went our separate ways. I myself went to Jitters to grab a coffee for Barry and a cronut for me. Once I got back to the station, I went up to Barry's lab and heard Barry talking to someone. "Which means I don't know if we're gonna be able to make it to S.T.A.R. Labs." He replied and I made my way inside. I quickly spotted Iris and Barry talking and felt a bit jealousy but ignored it.

"Seeing this thing turn on is like your dream." Iris exclaimed and I smirked while leaning against one of the walls.

"Your sad little nerdy dream." I teased before walking over to Barry and handing him his coffee.

"Plus, I canceled a date for this." Iris noted while eating one of his fries.

"Hands off my fries." Barry complained while pulling the box away with his other free hand. He gripped both the coffee and the box of fries and brought them to the other table table and put them down. "Unbelievable." he stated.

Iris rolled her eyes and walked closer to him. I'm stress-eating over my dissertation. We started selling cronuts at Jitters, I ate two today If I don't graduate soon, I'm gonna be more muffin-top than woman.." She stated and I smiled.

"I had one and man are they good!" I exclaimed before Barry rolled his eyes.

"You look amazing." Ouch. That hurt a bit. I glanced at Iris and she rolled her eyes before we made eye contact before she winked at me. She knew about my little crush on Barry and thought that he was talking to me.

"What is so important about this particle accelerator anyway?" She asked and I grinned. Barry was about to go full out 'geek mode.'

"Harrison Wells' work in quantum theory is light-years ahead of anything they're doing at CERN." He stated and Iris and I shared a look before both exclaiming, "You're doing that thing where you're not speaking English." He looked baffled and I smiled before he walked over to his white board.

"Okay. Just imagine that that dot, is everything the human race has ever learned until this moment." He said while drawing a little dot and showing us it.

"Does that include twerking?" Iris asked and I nudged her while shaking my head 'no.'

"That is everything we could learn from the particle accelerator." Barry said while drawing a huge circle around the dot and I nodded, kind of getting it.

"It's a whole new way of looking at physics." He continued on, " It will literally change the way that we think about everything." Iris stared at him for a moment before scoffing.

"You gotta get yourself a girlfriend."Iris stated while glancing at me and I blushed furiously.
"Hey, leave him alone, he's working." Joe, Iris's dad stated while walking in the room and I sent him a wave.

     "Hi, dad."

"Hey Joe." Suddenly, a 'ding' sounded and I turned around to look at it. "Your testing is done." I stated and Barry sent a smile before walking over to it and reading its report.

"I think the Mardon brothers are hiding on a farm. The fecal matter we found on the street, it was cow manure, which contains traces of oxytetracycline." Barry stated before looking and Iris and Joe's confused faces. "It's an antibiotic." Barry and I exclaimed and I grinned while he turned back to his work and clicking a his mouse to show four different dots. "There are only four farms in the area that still use it in their feed. I bet you find a very sweet Shelby parked at one of them." He handed Joe a paper with the addresses on it and grinned while Iris turned to her dad.

"Dad, seeing as how Barry solved your poop problem, how about letting him go to S.T.A.R.Labs?" She stated and he looked at Barry before sighing.

"Fine, go." Barry grinned and we all cheered a bit "Yes! Thank you, Joe!" He exclaimed. And we ran out of the door and to the particle accelerator's opening.

Once we got to the place we settled for some small talk while we waited.

"So Barry, how was your trip? Did you find proof of the impossible in Starling City, or did you just make my dad mad for no reason?" Iris asked out of the blue and I looked quizzically at Barry.

"Actually, while I was away, I had a chance to think about you know, relationships." He stated and my eyes widened as Iris and I made eye-contact again.

"And well, I'm not in one, and, you're not in one either, and you're one of my best friends, Iris." He stated and my eyes widened even more but of course, Iris didn't get it.

"You're mine, too. Why else would I be here?" She asked and I almost face palmed but felt my heart feel like a crumbling piece of paper.

"That's not what I meant." He stated and tried to tell her. "What I meant-" But Iris cut him off.

"I know what you're gonna say, Barry." Oh, if only you did Iris...if only you did.

"I'm not sure you do." He told her and I fought back some tears but shook them away. I couldn't let myself steal away his emotions, no matter who they're for.

"Even though we pretty much grew up in the same house together, and we're kinda like brother and sister, because we're not brother and sister, it can get really weird and awkward to talk to me about girls, but I just want you to know, that it shouldn't be awkward." She looked at me when she said the last part and I winced again. "There is nothing that I want more than for you to meet the right person that totally loves and adores you for the amazing guy that you are." She smiled while still glancing at me for every word that she said.

Barry shrugged and smiled. "Took the words right out of my mouth." He lied.

"Aw. Aren't you glad I know you so well?" She asked while giving him a huge smile. He gave her a little 'thank you.' as the crowd cheered and clapped louder as Harrison Wells walked up some stairs, waving for us to quiet down.

"My name is Harrison Wells. Tonight, the future begins. The work my team and I will do here will change our understanding of physics. Will bring about advancements in power, advancements in medicine, and trust me that future will be here faster than you think." He finished speaking and we started to clap but suddenly, Iris let out a cry.

"Ow! Hey, my laptop! It's got my dissertation." She exclaimed and Barry's eyes squinted a bit before he chased after the thief. Rushing after him, I tried to spot him but got lost in the crowd and went to find Iris. Spotting her looking for him too, I pointed down an ally way and spotted Barry leaning against a wall and my eyes widened. Rushing over to him faster, I grabbed his arm and checked for anything hurt.

"Barry! Are you okay?" I asked worriedly and he nodded.

"Yeah." Suddenly, at the end where the ally twas fenced off to another part of the city, there was a new cop standing with his gun out at the thief.

"Freeze! Police! Or do you want to find out the hard way you're not faster than a bullet?" He stated and put him into the cruiser.

[]

Once we arrived back at the police station, Barry put a tissue to his nose and tilted his head back before Iris walked over with a file.

"Who is that guy, and what is he so proud of?" She asked, confused. "So he caught a mugger?" She stated. It was true, plenty of cops have caught people.

"He's a transfer from Keystone. Started a few weeks ago. Eddie Thawne. " He gave the information and realization struck into Iris eyes.

"Oh, that's Detective Pretty Boy." She stated before looking at us. "That's what my dad calls him. Says he actually keeps score when it comes to arrests." She examined him a bit more before nodding. "He is pretty though." Barry rolled his eyes at this and I made a face. He was too goody goody and not Barry for my taste.

[]

Opening up the door to his lab, Barry held the tissue up to his nose before turning around.

"What's wrong? You need to talk." He stated and I nodded.

"Barry, there's something I've been wanting to do for a long time down." I chuckled a bit while walking closer to him. "I'm extremely nervous to do this so let's just get this over with." I stated as I was now face to face with him. I looked him in the eye and smiled. "Barry, I like you. I've liked you since the eighth grade and seeing you staring at Iris with those puppy eyes is killing me. I know that you don't like me like that but I want you to remember, I'll always be here for you." I stated and saw the shock in his eyes. Standing on the tip of my toes, I cupped his face before giving him a gently kiss, like it was the last thing I'd ever do to him.

Ending the kiss, I blushed and smiled. "Goodnight Barry, and watch out. There's a storm coming it seems." I state before rushing out of the lab, hearing him call my name but not follow me out of the building. Once I saw the rain picking up, I made my way into an abandoned building, seeing it as a shelter. I glanced around, scared. This isn't normal. The windows around me broke. Suddenly, a yellow-orange shield blew past me and I looked up, though the cracked ceiling, just in time to see a lightning bolt blind me. And that was the last thing that I saw.

How was that? I hope it wasn't too bad. I'd love your feedback!
