Verdict: Part One

I leave my room feeling better than I have in a long time.

I really believe that Marcus is not one of my fears anymore.

But I pray that he doesn't get replaced with something worse.

That brings a painful memory back to my mind: The one where Tris is bleeding out and I can't do anything about it.

It's not real. I tell myself.

But it seemed real enough.

Real enough that I have to go make sure she's okay.

I walk with purpose down the hallway to the room they assigned Tris and get several weird looks from the Amity I pass.

I honestly couldn't care less what they think of me.

Before I can reach Tris's room, Johanna steps out in front of me.

"Ahh, Four. Just the person I wanted to see. The assembly in which whether you and your companions stay or go will be held in half an hour outside in the greenhouse." She tells me, her face neutral.

"OK, I'll tell the others." I say before attempting to move past her.

But she's not letting me go yet.

"And one more thing, give this to your... Friend Tris. Tell her she has to take a dose every six hours." She hands me a little baggie of something that looks a lot like painkillers.

I take it, nod, and finally make my way to Tris's room.

When I try to open it though, it's locked.

I resist the urge to bang on the door and settle for a subtle knock.

Then stand there, anxiously longing to hear something to assure me that she's okay. You're in Amity! What could possibly happen?!

Anything. I answer back. Anything.

Just then, a "Come in." sounds from the room, and I enter faster than humanly possible, very enthused about seeing her beautiful face.

And there she is, sitting on the edge of her bed looking very out of wack.

Wasn't she just okay though?!

"Hi." I say to her.

"Hey."She says, eyeing my red shirt.

"I know it looks wrong, don't worry. " I say, startling her out of her stare.

"No, I didn't mean-"

"Don't worry Beatrice, I'm just kidding." I like the way her real name rolls off of my tongue. It's foreign, but familiar at the same time.

She raises her brow. "Did you just call me... Beatrice?" she asks it like she could get used to it but isn't ready right now.

"Yeah... I thought I would try it out. Not good?"

"Yeah. Maybe you should just use it on special occasions.. " She smiles slightly.

And then I remember the baggie in my hand and what Johanna told me.

"By the way, the Amity are meeting in half an hour. You know, to decide our fate.

"I never thought my fate would be in the hands of bunch of Amity." She grins.

"Neither did I." I then hold out the baggie to her. "Johanna gave me this. She said to take a dose of it every 6 hours."

She gets up and takes it from me. "Thank you."

I nod and move in to hug her. I think about doing a bit more, but figure that it could take us a while to stop.

"I'll let you get ready." I say, And leave the room.
