Despite the awkward moment we shared, I find that what Lauren told me makes a lot of sense.
Except for the fact that she agreed to meet Jack Kang somewhere on her own. I'm still trying to contemplate what that means.
But it won't matter, because I'll be there to witness it all.
And I want Tris there with me.
I walk down our hallway, the beds coming into view. Tris is sitting on hers next to Shauna and Lynn. They seem to be talking about something serious for a change.
I attempt to get closer so I can hear what they're saying, but before I can get close enough, Shauna looks up and sees me. I smile at her. She smiles back, looking better then she has in several days.
Not too long after she notices Shauna stop listening does Tris and Lynn glance at me. Tris doesn't grimace like she's been doing a lot lately when I've looked at her, which I take as a sign that we're almost on good terms again.
And I thank God for it.
"What are you guys discussing this time?" I ask them.
Surprisingly, Tris answers. "We heard that Jeanine is going to meet Jack Kang at the Bean the day after tomorrowvto discuss their Peace Treaty and we're going to go spy on them."
I almost gape at them. How'd they find out?
"I was actually planning to go spy on then also. I'd be glad to accompany you guys."
Now it's their turn to gape at me.
"Huh, what a coincidence... " Mumbles Lynn.
Shauna, though she's addressing all of us, she's still looking at me. "Don't you find it odd that Jeanine herself would meet with Jack Kang at a popular ace in the city and risk us reckless Dauntless tagging along?"
"Yes actually I do. Which is why I want to go, to find out if she really means it. Thus could give us the perfect opportunity to kill her." Tris says almost exactly what I'm thinking.
Except for the killing Jeanine part.
That reminds me of Evelyn.
"Well I think it's almost time cut lights out.. So I'm gonna catch some shut eye." Lynn says, going over to a bed in the corner.
Shauna silently follows her sister as I make my way over to Tris.
Once I'm sitting next to get, I wrap my arm around her, thankful that I can do this without her shrinking back again.
"How'd you find out?" Tris asks me.
"I could ask you the same thing." I raise my eyebrow even though I know she can't see it.
"Fair enough."

Tris, Lynn, Shauna and I are all getting suited up for our 'spy mission'.
The day Jeanine agreed to meet with Jack Kang came much faster than I suspected it to.
I can feel the adrenaline pumping in my veins. Who knows what were to happen if we were found out.
Definitely nothing good.
But this mission isn't the only thing on my mind.
Lauren is still there in the crevices she refuses to get out of.
Of course I don't feel anything for her, but what she told me is still a big thing in my memory. I was barely able to believe that Tris could love me. Now that I know that someone else us capable of it too... It's giving me hope they perhaps in not the coward everyone sees me as.
"You okay?" Tris asks me out of the blue, yanking me from my thoughts.
"Yeah." I say, tucking my pistol into my waistband. My shoulders instantly relax. I feel more like myself with it on me.
"Ready?" I ask them.
The plan is to get to the Bean before either of them so we can get a good vantage point without having to focus on getting caught.
They all look up and nod.
It's time to go.

It's much warmer out than I expect it to be, and I almost wish for something other than black to wear.
But then I remember what we're doing; why we're out here.
And those thoughts disappear from my mind.
Tris is next to me, and even though she has a gun, I make sure to keep her next to me or at least close enough for me to grab her if anything happens. She has yet to prove to me that she can protect herself again.
The four of us are sticking to the darker parts of the city as to not hey spotted by any Erudite that might be scouting the area.
Shauna is in the front, having claimed that she goes to the Bean all the time.
We all take her word for it.
When we get as close as Shauna is comfortable with, we wiggle under a bench nearby, making sure we all have enough room.
Turns out, only three of us can fit, so Lynn goes with Shauna to a bench close to ours, giving us a thumbs up once they're situated.
We wait at least 15 minutes for someone to materialize out of the shadows, but no one does, and my Claustrophobia is starting to catch up to me.
I start to sweat more than normal and it becomes harder to breathe.
Tris notices my discomfort and locks her fingers with mine. If not for the dead silent air around us, I'd say thank you.
Just then, I hear footsteps approaching our area.
Tris jumps and we both proceed to look toward the noise.
And there, coming up the road, is someone in blue.
And opposite from them, is Jack Kang.
It's time for the negotiation to start.
