CHAPTER TWENTY SIX
The blond has a grumpy expression across her face as she holds the phone to her ear, the ring repeating itself as she waited for him to pick up. She was impatient, she was tired and she wanted this to be over. Kali plopped down into her gaming chair, pressing the small button to turn her pc on. It came to life immediately just as the ringing stopped.
"Hello?" A familiar voice came through the phone and Kali sat in angry silence. She didn't know how she didn't notice it before, sure his voice sounded a little different online, damn it even sounded slightly altered on the normal call, but she should've recognized it.
"You're Dream." Kali said bluntly and there was a second of panic that crossed Clay's face before he managed to put the puzzle together. Of course Kali would have called him after realizing who he was. Clay would've bet that it was Jschlatt who had showed her the video which had gained millions of views.
"And you're Barbie." Clay answered, trying his best to sound calm but deep down anxiety was rising in his chest. Meanwhile anxiety had also managed to claw its way into Kali because she hadn't expected him to know who she was. A frown appeared on her face as her mind seemed to be filled with fog, feeling as if she was suddenly vulnerable. Suddenly her world was turned when someone had put two and two together.
"I," Kali tried to form a sentence but wasn't sure what to say. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to make a joke or if she was meant to be angry. She wasn't sure if she was meant to be happy she had made a streamer friend who she was living close to or if she should be scared for that very reason. Her mind was racing faster then the speed of light and she felt slightly overwhelmed.
"Well," Clay dragged out the word as he quickly escaped to his own bedroom in an attempt to hide from his two best friends who were giving him grins, wanting him to put the call on speaker as he sat at the kitchen island. "This is awkward." He tried to lighten the mood as he shut his door with Patches just making it inside and jumping onto his bed.
"Very." Kali agreed as she spun in her gaming chair, her eyes flickering from the monitor which was glowing to her bed which was a mess due to how fast she had gotten up. Now that she actually had calmed down, she could feel a headache coming on. "You stalked me?" She tried to joke and heard Clay sputter on the other side of the phone.
"No!"
"Me on my way to ask Sapnap." Kali laughed as she turned in her chair once again, facing the monitor fully and scooting a little closer. She placed Clay on speaker and put her phone down on the desk before taking a sip from her water bottle.
"No, don't," Clay complained and a playful grin appeared on Kali's face.
"Me and Sapnap are besties, don't even speak to me." Kali informed the man with a small laugh and this made him smile a lot more but a small scoff left his lips as he thought about the two of them being best friends. What a terrifying thought. "I cannot believe you stalked me." She sighs with another laugh, putting her water bottle down as her smile grew more and more. "Tweeting out that you stalked me right now." Kali laughed as she grabbed for her phone and opened up the app, starting to type out the message she was going to send out.
"I regret giving you my number." Clay sighed through his smile and the girl on the other end of the call scoffed at his comment.
"No, you don't." Kali said, all of the angry and confusion mixed with a hint of betrayal suddenly gone now that the chemistry between the two was in full affect. She hadn't felt herself smile this much in, well she didn't know how long but it had been a solid minute.
"No I don't." Clay agreed as he also placed Kali on speaker and picked up Patches, the two continuing to talk late into the night before Kali eventually fell asleep at her desk and Clay decided to respect her privacy and hang up but not after saying good night to her.
