CHAPTER THIRTY ONE
If Kali was being honest she never really liked Christmas or even winter in general. It was one of her least favorite holidays ever since she was a kid but maybe that was because of the home she grew up in. Or maybe it was just because she had never really believed in the magic that most kids felt around Christmas.
Yet as Kali sat on the sofa, comfortable in Clay's arms, she suddenly understood why it was so nice. She couldn't explain why this Christmas felt different but it just did. And she wasn't complaining even as they rewatched the same Hallmark movies over and over again because Clay had bullied her into it.
And Clay was also happy despite the fact that neither George or Nick were at the house, giving them both as much time as they wanted together. George had flown back to England for two weeks to spend time with his family, telling everyone in the house that he wasn't sure when he would be back to be exact which they had all teased him about. Meanwhile Nick had gone back to Texas to spend the holiday with his family as well but not without jokingly telling the two to leave room for Jesus before he left. This had caused Kali to throw multiple pillows from the couch at his head as he rushed out the door, nearly knocking a picture off the wall as he did so.
But as the days dragged on, the two had gotten lazy after multiple streams together doing different couple like activities. These usually ended up with someone, mainly Tommy, calling midway through the stream to tell them that they were cringe.
"You're so beautiful." Clay muttered lightly as he kissed her forehead and she looked up at him with a small smile across her face. She was snuggled into his side, the two sharing a blanket. She met his green eyes, resting her head now on his chest.
"I think that you are beautiful too." Kali said, telling the truth. She loved his messy hair and eyes and the freckles that were across his face. She loved the way he looked at her as if she was the only girl that he had ever seen.
"I think I love you Kali." Clay whispers after a second of looking at the girl who's grinning at him. He runs a hand through her blond hair, tilting his head a little as his eyes flicker from each of her features, finally landing on her icy blue eyes. At first when they had first met he had thought of her as pretty but now that he knew her, he knew that everything about her was beautiful. Not just her looks.
"I think," Kali grinned a little as she looked at him, dragging the word out as if she was teasing him and Clay rolled his eyes jokingly because this was something he loved so much about her. "I love you too Clay." She smiled and leaned forwards, connecting her lips with his.
"Merry Christmas." Clay muttered against her lips as a smile grew even more across her face.
"Merry Christmas." She repeated, resting her head on his chest again as her eyes went back to the movie. It was almost funny because as soon as she looked back the Hallmark movie had the two main characters kissing under mistletoe. It was cute, even Kali who never believed in that stuff, knew that. As she went to speak again about how cringe the couple was being, despite her and Clay being equally if not more cringe, a ball of fur jumped onto the sofa and into her lap. "Patches!" She grinned and made grabby hands for the cat which caused it to find its way into her arms.
"I swear you both love each other more then me." Clay commented as he reached his hand out to rub Patches head as the curled up on Kali's chest. Kali ran her hand down Patches back with earned soft purring from the cat as it snuggle into her.
"Oh shit the fuck up." Kali laughed lightly and Patches looked at Clay as if she was agreeing with Kali had told him. This makes the two adults laugh and once they calm down, both of them look at the cat who seemed unamused by the laughter from the two. "She would look cute with a Santa hat." Kali pointed out, putting her hand on Patches head which caused the cat to push its head into her hand. A bright smile appeared on Kali's face as Patches closed her eyes, clearly comfortable.
"She won't let you put a hat on her." Clay laughed a little under his breath because he would know. The amount of time that he, Nick and George had spent trying to get the cat to wear a sweater was nothing compared to getting her to wear a hat. The one time that they had managed to get her to wear it only lasted about five minutes and took many, many, maybe treats. They still managed to get good pictures though.
"Is that a challenge?" Kali asked, looking back at him and Clay shook his head because he knew that now Kali was only going to try harder to get Patches to wear a Santa hat before the day was over.
