Chapter 7

In the darkness of the Black Forest, the infamous goblin himself lit up a gas lamp and prepared his bait for the hunt. The grains od sand frim his hourglass dropped until the last grain of sand.

Your time is up, Marvin. The time has come for you to pay the debt that you owe.

Meanwhile at the caravan, he looked for his crystal ball, rummaging through his posessions until he stepped inside the bucket full of water and found the round crystaline object. He held the crystal ball in one hand and saw his wobbly reflection through it. "Magic crystal ball that I have in store, show me the one who I'm looking for." Marvin looked through the crystal ball as the mystic item did as it commanded, distorting his reflection into revealing a short silhouette rustling in the bushes. His eyes glowing the same color and luminosity of a firefly.

The goblin stood in wait as of ready to strike. "Hold on, if Hob Goblin is out of his cave that means..." Then realization struck him like an arrow that was shown through the crystal ball.

Oh shoot! Marvin thought. "Damn it!" He threw his table with his free hand in a fit of rage. "Curses!"

Elsewhere, in the village of Dreadsville. Catherine and Elizabeth bid adieu to each other, after the young blonde closed the door, the widowed woman began with her evening prayer. After her prayer, a thought came to her mind. I hadn't thought of visiting Margaret in a while. She thought.

Margaret was an old friend of hers, even though some of her close friends called her Margo she has also been a friend of Mary for many years. The woman walked up to the door when she heard a knocking. "Who is it?" She shouted before opening the door. "Oh, it's you. What are you doing out here at this hour?" Margaret asked as she let Elizabeth inside.
"Sorry Margaret, I just came to ask if you have seen Barbara." Elizabeth said.
"You mean the girl that works with you?" She asked.
"Yes." Elizabeth nodded.
"I've seen that blonde girl walking around with that odd looking lad who looks like a goat with that beard." Margo commented.
"No, that's Catherine. Barbara has black hair, dark clothes and a monobrow. She is not hard to find." Elizabeth reminded her.
"You mean that girl who buys from that misvhievous merchant." Margaret replied.
"Yes, that's her! Have you seen her?" Elizabeth inquired.
"Sadly, I have not seen her," she responded, Elizabeth started to think that visiting her was a bad idea, "but you will not belive what I saw this afternoon. I saw a girl with her head floating about with a man holding a crate. From what I could see, she looked a lot like the Barbara that you described." Margaret mentioned.
"Wait, what?!" Elizabeth couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"I said that the floating looked a lot lile Barbara. I heard one of them mention She was with a man who carried a crate and they went straight to that shady merchant's caravan." Margaret told her what she saw at that moment.
"A crate?" Elizabeth began to think until she recalled the creaking moise that came from the floorboards. The customer's strange behavior and Catherine's comment about his approach while she changed her dress.

"I don't like that man one bit, he gives me creeps."
"He may be an odd fellow but there is something interesting about him."
"Did you hear that?"
"Yea, it sounds like it came from upstairs."
"This has never happened before. Elizabeth, I am telling you that there is something off-putting about that man. You say that Edwin is not the right man for me, but I will tell you this, Edwin is a saint compared to that stranger." Catherine said when she finished getting dressed.

"That explains why she hasn't shown up today. Thank you Margaret, if you would excuse me." Elizabeth headed out the door.
"Take care." Margo raised her hand before closing the door.
"Oh Lord, where did I go wrong?!" She looked at the sunset.

Meanwhile at Edwin's house, Catherine came to visit him. "Hello beautiful." He greeted her.
"Hello handsome." Catherine replied before she kissed him.
"How is my beautiful angel doing this evening?" He asked her, gazing at her with loving eyes.
"Wonderful, and what were you up to?" She asked him, her hand caressing his cheek.
"Not much, did you have fun working with Elizabeth?" He queried before her face shifted into a sullen expression.
"Don't get me wrong. I like working with Elizabeth and all, but she is such a worry wart! Barbara this, Barbara that! She has been worried about unibrow all day."
"She didn't show up today?" He asked, his tone was mixed bewilderment and apprehension.
"Nope. She didn't show up today, which was weird. I had to lie in order for her to keep her mind off of unibrow. I convinced her for a while but she kept looking at the front door at intervals." Catherine told him.
"Do you think she's dead?" He doubted, second guessing himself, feeling guilty.
"Honestly, I could care less about unibrow! What made my skin crawl was the creepy customer that came to Elizabeth's shop today. I had to try on some of the dresses for the old prune." She stated.
"If that old swine even tries to lay a hand on you, I will kill him myself." Edwin flared.
"Calm down, Edwin!"
"I will not calm down! He could've touched you. He could've hurt you, and I wasn't there to stop it. I will not take this lying down, once we are married, you will stop working at her boutique." Edwin warned her.
"He wasn't even impressed with any of the dresses that I wore for crying out loud! That old ox was too focused on Elizabeth to even look at me." Catherine snorted as she crossed her arms.
"Each day I am more convinced to pay the dowry and move to my homeland. First, that dark crow nearly killed you last night, and now that old man that you told me about is using you." Edwin looked at his beloved. "I'll have to work even harder tomorrow. Once I have earned enough to pay the dowry, you're coming with me to Sardonia."
