PHIL'S POV

"And the assignment is due next Tuesday!" Mrs. Smith told us.

BRIIIING!

"And that's the bell! Have a nice weekend!"

Yes! Friday! And I get to meet Dan!

I grab my stuff from my desk and fast walk my way out. I go to my locker and get my backpack. I close my locker and walk out to the tree.

Aww. Dan's not here yet! Does he even want to hang out with me? Is he just pitying me? My anxiety starts to kick in. Not now! My palms start to sweat and I'm shaking all over. I turn around and see Dan walking over. He waves with a smile, and I wave back.

I guess he does care about me. I start to blush. "Are you hot, Phil?"

What? did he just call me hot? "Um.." I studder. "What did you say?".

"I'm asking if you're overheating or something. Your face is red."

Oh! That's what he meant! I smile at him. I think it looked awkward. Dan giggled back at me, making me smile and blush. This went on for what felt like forever!

DING

I look at my phone. It's a text from my mum.

Phil? Where are you? It's been ages!

"Shoot!" I say, a bit too loud. "What's wrong?" Dan asks. " I forgot it tell my mum that I was staying after school a bit longer! I need to go!"

"Fair enough," Dan replies. "Let's exchange numbers. Can I come over tomorrow?"

"Sure!" I say, flattered. "Let me text her back!"

I'm coming! Can my friend come over tomorrow?

I wait a bit for her text back.

Sure!

"My mum says it okay!"

We exchanged numbers and I left.

"Bye Dan!"
