PHIL POV
I'm always getting picked on. I hate it. I just sit at lunch reading my book. As I'm reading, I notice a guy staring at me. I think his name is Dan? I don't know. He's starts staring at me with his head cupped in his hands. He looks to be deep in thought.

I go back to my reading book. Well, I want them to think that. I'm actually thinking about Dan. Why is he staring at me? Does he wanna be friends? I don't know, it's kinda creepy. A little cute. Wait. Did I just call Dan cute? Weird.

I'm thinking about all this stuff, I feel something hit my head. It wasn't very hard, but it caught me off guard.

"LOSER!" Ugh. Not Richard again. He's the school's bully. He's a HUGE jerk. I turn to look at him. He is very intimidating. "Move, this is OUR spot!" Richard told me. Being the shy dork that I am, the only thing that comes out of my mouth is "But I'm sitti-" Before I'm cut off by him. "Well it's OUR spot now, Lester!" I don't like it when people when people refer to me as Lester, but there was nothing I could do about it. I go to grab my stuff and held to the library, but then Dan comes and says to Richard.

"Hey! Leave him alone!"

Everyone in the cafeteria just froze. Everything was still; Everyone was shocked. Dan was known as the shy kid with friends. Why did he stand up for me?

"Yea? Or else?"

Dan then got all serious. He got close to him, so he was towering over Richard. With the most intimidating tone of voice I've ever heard, he says "Just. Leave. Him. Alone."

Richard looks at him liked a scared puppy, but he tries to cover it up "Okay, okay...Let's go guys," Him and his group walked off, like they owned the place.

Dan slowly comes and sits by me. "Hi!" He makes a hand gesture. "So...My name is Dan, nice to meet you! What's your name?" In shock of what happened, I whispered out "Ph-Phil,". "Well, Phil, wanna sit with me and my friends?".

"Sure! I'd love too!" I reply, happy for someone to accept me.

BRIIIING

"Oh, the bell." Dan complains. "Meet by the tree afterschool?"

"Okay!"

I head off to class happy for once. I feel excited for the end of the day!
