Ch. 9 Animosity

Sua woke up late the next day. The sun was already high, lighting up the room even through the curtains which were still closed. She stretched her hands above her head, her movements restricted by a long leg which was trapping the lower half of her body under it.

Tae.

She had slept the entire night in his room. Not that it was the first time but it still made her a little uncomfortable. She carefully slipped out of his grip and made her way to her room. She ran up the stairs as fast as she could without making any sound. She didn't want to attract any attention to the fact that she had spent the entire night with him wearing only Namjoon's old hoodie and her panties.

She quickly took a shower and pulled on fresh clothes leaving her wet hair to dry naturally. She looked into the mirror at the small makeshift dresser that Namjoon and Yoongi had made for her. Her face looked fresh from her shower. She put on some moisturiser and hand combed her wet hair to make it look a little presentable. She didn't use any makeup these days, not like she would be leaving the estate anyway and the boys all liked her just the way she was, something they made a point to tell her every day.

She just applied some lip balm and headed downstairs. She had overslept today. Jin had probably already made breakfast, she thought guiltily. Hurrying into the kitchen, lost in her own thoughts she completely missed the guy sitting at the kitchen island quietly sipping tea. She quickly put on a pot of water on the stove and walked to the fridge to pull out eggs and a loaf of bread.

"What are you doing?" Jungkook asked from his perch at the island.

"Bah!" she exclaimed falling back barely holding on to the carton of eggs in her hand. She stood up again laying a hand on her chest.

"You scared the life out of me." She said her heart still trying to jump out of her chest.

"Yeah? Not my fault that you're completely oblivious to your surroundings" he muttered.

Sua looked at him. She knew him of course, she had seen him heartlessly shoot a man in the head. The youngest member of the family she had come to love as her own. Youngest and the most ruthless from what she had seen and heard of him. Looking at him now sitting there at the kitchen counter, dressed casually in jeans and a hoodie he looked about as harmful as Yeontan. The tattoos on his hand and his piercings were the only things that reminded her of the cold-blooded killer in the alley. She looked at his face again, so handsome yet so cold. His dark eyes were staring back at her in disdain.

"You're staring" he chuckled.

She averted her gaze and scoffed. "You wish." She muttered under her breath, turning around to place the eggs on the counter behind her.

"What did you say?" His voice was much closer. Closer than she'd expected. She swiftly turned back around to find herself caught in his dark glare. His face loomed close to her own. Her breath hitched as his warm breath mingled with hers.

He placed his hands on the counter locking her between his hard body and the counter pressing into her back. "Tell me what you said" he whispered titling his head slightly as he brought it even closer to her. His lips only inches from her own. His gaze holding her in place unable to process any rational thoughts. Her heart thudded loudly filling her ears with an odd buzzing sound. She felt dizzy as he inched even closer making her chest press into his muscular one. She swallowed loudly.

"Sua?" Jimin called from the doorway. "What's going on?" He asked eyeing the two of them pressed so close to each other.

Jungkook smirked at her. "Saved by the bell" he whispered only for her to hear as he stepped away from her.

Sua slumped against the counter at the sudden loss of his body's support. She placed a shaking hand on her chest hoping to ease her discomfort.

"Jungkook-ah, I see you've already met Sua" Jimin's voice reflected his irritation.

"We haven't been properly introduced yet." He said stretching out his hand towards Sua as he raised a mocking brow at her, daring her to refuse to take it. "Jeon Jungkook" he smirked again.

She took the challenge and accepted his handshake.
"Yoon Sua" she said raising her chin in defiance.

He held on to her hand as his thumb rubbed disturbingly across her knuckles.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sua" he said titling his head. "I hope you don't want me to still kill you?" He asked. It was a low blow to bring up the worst time of her life, he knew it and it put a sour taste in his mouth but the almost kiss they had just shared, had messed with his head and he wanted to make her hurt for what she was doing to him.

Jimin sucked in a sharp breath. "Jungkook-ah" he warned.

"Its ok Jiminie." She said looking at him. She looked back at Jungkook with contempt "No. I don't." She said simply pulling her hand from his.

His big hands felt empty so he shoved them in the pockets of his hoodie.

"Do you want to go take Tannie for a walk with me Sua?" Jimin asked trying to ease the tension in the room.

"Um.. sure. Yes" she said moving away from Jungkook. "I'll just go grab my jacket" she said walking away.

Jimin whistled "Yeontan" he called "Come on boy, let's go for a walk."

Tannie ran to him on his tiny feet almost colliding with his. Jimin bent down and scratched his ears.

"Take Bam too." Jungkook said noticing that Jimin had refused to meet his eyes.

"Sua is scared of Bam." He said without looking back as he walked out of the screen door with Tannie at his heels.

Jungkook stared behind him. A month, thats all it took for them all to choose her over him? First Tae and now Jimin?

He went back to his now cold tea, wondering whether he should just throw it away or reheat it when Tae walked in groggily rubbing his eyes.

"Hey Jung-" a huge yawn interrupted his greeting.

"Good Morning, sleepyhead" Jungkook called "Slept well?" He asked tongue in cheek.

"Oh yes" Tae said missing the look Jungkook was giving him.

"Where's everyone?" Tae wondered looking around

"Hobi-hyung and Namjoon-hyung left early this morning and Jin-hyung's probably in his office" Jungkook shrugged.

"Sua?" Tae asked.

Jungkook noticed how he hadn't asked about Yoongi-hyung or Jimin, he hadn't really paid much attention to what Jungkook said about the others either. He was only really asking about Sua, he guessed.

"She took Tannie for a walk" Jungkook answered dryly

"Oh!" He muttered scratching his head and looking at the clock it was almost 11 am. "I wanted to go with her. Why didn't she wait for me? When did she leave maybe I can catch up with her." He said walking to the screen door

"Jimin's with her" Jungkook looked at Tae carefully observing his reaction to that information. But Tae just relaxed slightly.

"That's ok then, she'll be fine. I'm hungry anyway" he said and headed to the kitchen counter in search of the breakfast he was sure Sua would've left for him.

He found the uncooked eggs and bread on the counter and a pot of water boiling on the stove. He turned off the stove and turned around with a slight pout.

"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked noticing the disappointed look in his best friend's eyes.

"Sua always makes breakfast" he said frowning.

Jungkook felt guilty. That's what she was doing when he had almost jumped her bones and caused her to run away.

"Maybe, I can make you some?" Jungkook said picking up the eggs.

"No its fine. I'll just grab a coffee." Tae said pulling out a cup from the cupboard.

"Its no bother, really. I've cooked for you plenty of times before, haven't I?" Jungkook was slightly hurt at the dismissal. There was a time when Tae would sweet talk him into cooking something for him most mornings.

"That was a long time ago Jungkookah. I've learned to go without breakfast in the last few years. Jin-hyung prefers to work in the mornings as usual and the rest usually grab something on their duties outside." Tae answered. "But since Sua has been here, she's made sure everyone had breakfast and tea before starting the rest of their day. Guess she had something else on her mind today."  He finished, pouting again.

"Sit down Taehyungie and allow me the chance to make it up to you." Jungkook grabbed Tae's shoulders and pushed him onto the chair he had just vacated. "Tell me about how things have been while I've been away last month and I'll whip up your breakfast, huh? Just like old times?" Jungkook winked trying to keep it light. He was fighting a war inside himself. He had thought, judging by the way they had all greeted him when he first arrived at the mansion, that they had forgiven him for leaving but that probably wasn't the case. And now that he was back for good and everyone'd had time to process things, they were starting to pull away from him. Their anger and hurt shadowing their love for him.

Tae talked about the business front of things for the most part. Jin had inherited not just the estate but also two legitimate businesses run by his grandfather, that also served as a front for their "other" activities. Jin-hyung remained clean, not getting involved with any of their other business ventures and Tae mostly worked with him in the company but he also did some of the research and other technical support work for the rest of their brothers.

"And how are things at home?" Jungkook asked wanting to steer the conversation to a point where he could address last night's situation.

"Pretty much the same actually. Except Sua. She makes all the difference" Jungkook didn't have to turn around to see the smile on Taehyung's face. He could hear it.

"Yeah?" He prodded.

"Yes. She's a delight to have around Jungkook-ah. She takes such good care of us all. Always making sure there's food on the table and clean laundry in our dressers. The house is clean and always smells nice. And she always has a sweet smile and a kind word for us at the end of the day." The smile still evident in his voice.

"Nights too?" Jungkook asked finally coming to the point.

"Sorry?" Tae asked confused.

"I heard you last night." Jungkook plated the scrambled eggs and moved to get the bread out of the toaster.

"Uh... I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly. But I have trouble sleeping sometimes, you might remember." Watching Jungkook give a slight nod, he continued. "She helped me calm down, that's all."

"Does that happen often?" Jungkook asked placing the plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of Taehyung.

"A few times a month." He said sheepishly and then turned to his breakfast devouring it as fast as he could.

"And she sleeps with you?" Jungkook pushed

"Sometimes. Sometimes I go to her." He looked gutted at having to admit this. "The hyungs, they mostly ignore my screams. Jimin used to show up when I got too loud. Not anymore though Sua is there before I get too worked up. I swear that girl can sense when I'm distressed." He chuckled before scarfing down more of his breakfast.

Jungkook placed a tall glass of milk near his plate. "Woah. Thanks." Tae mumbled with his mouth full and took a long swig from the glass.

"Is there something going on between you two?" Jungkook pried.

Tae sputtered on his milk. "What? No!! Are you out of your mind? No!" Tae looked taken aback enough for Jungkook to believe him.

"What about the rest? Joonie-hyung seems very..... possessive? I mean she is very pretty so I don't really blame anyone but I'm just curious you know." He pressed.

Tae chuckled. "Yeah very pretty." He agreed giving Jungkook a side long glance. His little brother was all grown up, he thought not offering any further information just to test him. And he was right because the next moment Jungkook was pushing again.

"So? Are any of the others.. you know.. into her?"

"Nah man. They aren't. Especially Namjoon-hyung, he's not possessive just protective of her, we all are. Everyone treats her like a sister, a member of the family. Except maybe Jimin." Tae mused for a moment. "He's... I don't know, he hasn't said anything and you know how he is, flirting with everything that moves. But he's different with her.. more.. I don't know man. Even she's... how do I explain.. flustered? Yes, she's flustered when he's around." Tae shrugged and went back to his breakfast.

Jungkook clenched his jaw. She was flustered in his presence this morning not Jimin's. Is that her ploy then? To secure a more permanent position in the house as Jimin's girlfriend? Well not on his watch, he vowed.

"You said you go to her room at night? She let's you in?" Jungkook asked again curious to know more.

"I don't really give her much of a choice." He looked over at Jungkook with guilt written all over his face. "I sometimes know that things are bad you know. I feel the stress and I just know that I'm going to have a bad night. So I simply head straight to her room. We talk for a while and I fall asleep there. She's never refused." His brows furrowed before he continued, "I have been taking advantage of her, haven't I?" His guilt almost choking him, his breakfast lay forgotten. "She calms me like nothing else Jungkookie, I feel safe." He tried to explain.

"I don't mind Tae-Tae." Sua said from the door. "You don't have to worry." She walked to him and placed a soft kiss on the back of his head.

Tae brightened up. His boxy grin shining at Jungkook.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't make you breakfast today." She said eyeing his almost empty plate of food.

"Don't worry, Sua. Jungkook made it for me. He used to do it all the time before. " He explained.

"There's more if you want some." Jungkook said from the other side of kitchen island.

"I've lost my appetite. But Yoongi may want some. I'll go check." She headed towards his room.

Jimin walked in. He saw Tae, his hair still tousled. "Yah! You better clean up quick. Jin-hyung has been waiting for you."

"Oops" Tae said downing the milk in one go and taking the dishes and leaving them in the sink before running away towards the stairs.

Jimin ignored Jungkook and went to fill Yeontan's water bowl.

"Are you going to talk to me at all?" Jungkook asked him.

"There's nothing to talk about." Jimin said still not meeting his eyes and moving to put food in another dog bowl.

"Isn't there?" Jungkook asked "We used to talk about everything, Jiminah"

"Yeah, I thought so too until one day you disappeared without a word and now you're back and you think everything is ok." Jimin muttered his back still turned away from him.

"I don't..." He started before he was interrupted by Sua coming back to the kitchen followed by Yoongi who was smiling.

Jimin took the opportunity to leave, disappearing towards the office.

Yoongi inclined his head towards Jungkook in acknowledgment of his presence but continued his conversation with Sua who made no effort to include Jungkook in it.  He took it as his cue to leave and followed Jimin into the office.

"Jungkookie!!" Jin-hyung exclaimed getting off his chair behind a big oak table and walked around to hug him. Finally a reaction he wanted, he thought hugging his oldest hyung.

"Glad you're back Kookie, sorry I couldn't welcome you home last night" he apologised "Sua was..."

"Sua was attacked by Bam." Jimin finished for him when he hesitated. "I have asked Ji-hyuk to put Bam on a leash and keep him into one of the stable houses for a while." Jimin informed him.

"What? You have no right." Jungkook glared at Jimin.

"Jungkook-ah, Jimin means well. Bam needs to be trained." Jin interrupted.

"Bam is trained." Jungkook bit out still glaring at Jimin who was glaring right back at him. "You will let him out, right now! He's not a danger to anyone."

"He tried to attack Sua this morning." Jimin gritted his teeth. "Probably picking up on his master's hostility."

Jimin had hit the nail right on the head.

Jungkook's eyes widened "You're lying"

"No, I'm not, and you will have him trained and you will put him on a leash. Because the next time he jumps at Sua...." Jimin fingered the gun at his waist.

"Jimin-ah!!" Jin exclaimed "You are going too far."

"Hyung..." both of them started at the same time and both fell silent staring daggers at each other.

"Enough. I will not hear about it anymore." Jin said turning away, marking the end of the discussion. "I finally have my full family at home. We will have a nice family dinner and everyone will get along with each other like the brothers we are."

He walked back around the table and picked up the intercom and dialed, waiting for an answer.

After a few rings Sua answered. "Jin Oppa?" She asked.
"Sua, we will have a full family dinner tonight. Plan a full menu and make a list of things you need. I'll be right down to help you in sometime. Meanwhile Jungkook will collect the list from you and go get the groceries. "

"Oh, that's a great idea Oppa. I'll get right on it. We will have such a great time. I'm so excited." She squealed.

Jin chuckled "See you in a bit Jag-eun Sae" he hung up.

"Jimin-ah. Contact a good trainer for Bam. Make sure he's treated well." Jin said sternly while Jungkook bristled at his side.

"Yes hyung." Jimin said barely containing his victorious grin and left the office.

"Go get the groceries, kookie" Jin addressed Jungkook quietly.

"You do realise that this isn't fair, right?" Jungkook said

"No. What's not fair is how badly Sua could have been hurt last night if Jimin hadn't heard her scream and pulled Bam off her." Jin explained.

Jungkook hung his head. "Bam is good"

"I'm sure he is." Jin said as if he would to a kid who's being unreasonable.

"I'll go get the groceries, then"

"Good idea" Jin said already turning back to his computer and returning to his work.
