Bad timing (YG)
You had been feeling constantly sick lately, you thought you were coming down with the flu. After a couple of weeks of not actually getting ill, you decided you would be taking a pregnancy test just to be sure.
You really were not worried, you were taking all the necessary precautions with your boyfriend and the chances were slim. You took pills and used protection so it couldn't be, but you figured you'd eliminate items on the list.
Walking back into the bathroom after leaving the test next to the sink for the amount of time the box instructed, you took it almost ready to throw it out. However, you froze in place when you saw a flash of blue.
Despite the two lines being impossible not to see, leaving absolutely no room for doubt, you brought it closer to your face to inspect it. You took the box as if you didn't know what that meant and saw the little picture with the test with two lines and the word "pregnant" under it.
As you waited at the pharmacy to buy a couple more tests, you were sweating profusely just from the panic you were feeling. What was the chance of this happening? Wasn't it 0.1% for birth control alone? You were also very diligent when it came to taking it so they would be as effective as they could be. This just made no sense.
After nervously handing the money to the cashier and receiving your receipt, you took your bag and practically ran back to the apartment. You took the new tests, different brands just in case. The most expensive you could find, hoping they'd be more accurate, and you waited.
You were feeling pretty nauseous, but this was the kind that was produced by the anxiety shaped like a knot in your stomach. The alarm on your phone finally went off and you quickly made your way to the bathroom.
Taking a deep breath and closing your eyes tightly, you held up both tests in front of you and counted to three in a whisper before opening your eyes. Your heart sank, another two perfectly clear positives.
You felt weak at the knees and they fell off your hands. Your back slid down the bathroom's door as you tried to let that sink in. It was happening, something that never in a million years you would have expected.
Both you and Yoongi had talked about it before. While your relationship had been going strong for years now, you both agreed you'd wait until his contract was over before thinking of taking any further steps. This one was definitely one of those steps that weren't supposed to happen.
Shocked as you were, you couldn't really cry. You were starting to get a headache from all the things that were going through your head. Your family was very traditional and you were pretty sure Yoongi's would be opposed to doing anything about this.
You grew up raised with the idea that abortions were wrong and of course illegal, even though the laws were being revised soon. Deep down you weren't sure if you'd be able to consider anything like that anyway. Beyond whatever you were ever told, it was a thought you didn't feel comfortable with.
And there was Yoongi. He definitely didn't need this or want it, you were sure of it. You were shaking from the excess of anxiety that coursed through your body. Covering your face with your hands you shook your head violently wishing this was all a nightmare.
You trashed all the tests and walked out of the bathroom heading back to the room. You paced from one side of it to the other trying to figure out how to go about this. You loved Yoongi with all your heart, you really did, but this would ruin his career.
The only option that you could think of was just walking away and raising this kid alone. Your throat was dry and you had difficulty breathing. The nausea you were feeling over this made your stomach turn. There was no other way.
That night when Yoongi came back from work, he found you waiting at the table with dinner ready. He smiled for a moment at the sight until he looked at your pale face and his expression dropped in concern. "You don't look good, jagi, are you okay?" he asked walking up to you and touching your shoulder affectionately.
"I need to talk to you, Yoongi" you said dryly and he walked to the other side of the table as you motioned towards the chair. With furrowed eyebrows and a knot in his throat, he took a seat and looked at you carefully waiting for you to start talking.
You burst into tears at the sight of your clueless patient boyfriend, unable to get the words out. A grimace formed itself on his face, he had no idea what you wanted to say, but he was terrified. You were never like this, not even when you were mad at him about something and wanted to talk it out.
"I-I did everything right, Yoongi, I d-don't understand" you started in between sobs and the worried frown didn't leave his face as he tried to read you. "This would only hold you back, so I think it's better you hear me out and" he cut you off as his breathing became elaborate as panic rose inside him.
"Are you trying to break us off? What are you talking about, you're not holding me back" he said, his voice hiked up at first and then low as he finished the sentence. He looked at you with wide eyes. "I'm pregnant, Yoongi. This would most definitely affect your career" you said softly looking into his eyes with your sad ones.
He slowly got up from his seat as he silently processed the words that had just come out of your mouth. You just waited looking down to your lap, head hanging low as you silently cried. His hands came in contact with your shoulders and you looked up at his touch.
You met his eyes, his frown was now paired with a protective gaze. "Are you insane?" he shook you slightly as he said this exasperated and your face contorted uncomfortably in confusion. "You're not leaving. I'm not going to let you" he said firmly as he held your arms and brought his face close to yours. He pulled away for a second "unless you want to leave me, for me" he mumbled under his breath looking down as his face flushed.
"I know this is not what you want, we've talked about this" you objected and he looked back up at you "I never said I didn't want it" he said softly and then trailed off. You looked skeptical so he continued "maybe this was not part of the plan for now, but it'll be okay". He paused for a second looking for the right words.
"You know how I told you I used to work on a song until it was perfect or else I wasn't happy?" he finally started. You nodded not leaving his eyes. "Now I do my best and if something can't be, I don't stress over it*. This is what it is, and we'll make it work" he looked very serious now as he waited for your answer.
You jumped off the chair and wrapped your arms around him tightly. He stumbled back taking a few steps from the sudden movement but finally hugged you back fervently. "I love you so much, that's why I was ready to walk away" you said still in between tears. "If you do, you're not going anywhere, okay?" he whispered in your ear before snuggling on the crook of your neck.
You laughed softly as you stroked his fluffy locks, he relished in the feeling for a few minutes and then pulled back. He walked out of the room and you looked at him curiously. A few minutes later he came back and walked up to you feeling rather nervous. He extended his fist towards you and you looked at him confused.
He gestured to your hand and you held your palm up. He placed his balled fist on it and unwrapped his long fingers from the little box as he placed it on your hand. He reached for your other hand and held it in both of his. They were sweaty and slightly shaky but his grip was confident.
"I know this is not the right time either" he said searching your eyes as you still stared at your hand. "I've kept this in the back of my drawer for a while" he mumbled embarrassed "and we don't have to do anything about this for a few years, but" he took a deep breath "please, if you love me, you'd better stay" he breathed out and placed your other hand on top of the box so you'd open it.
His face was burning, but he was determined to look at you, his lips twitched as he anxiously observed you open the small box and stare at the engagement ring he had accidentally picked on a random day after walking past it on display.
"I love you" he blurted out just wanting to get the words out as soon as possible. "Will you?" he asked shyly as your eyes were still on it and your expression was unreadable. You turned your head up in what seemed like slow motion to Yoongi's impatience and you smiled overjoyed as you threw your arms around him once more. "Of course I will" you said giggling happily.
His matching gummy smile suddenly dropped and he cleared his throat "and my mother would kill me if we didn't get...married as things are now**" he struggled to get out the words and then chuckled averting your eyes. You placed your forehead on his and laughed "that too."
