You know BTS? (JM)
You were late for class and you weren't looking where you were going as you checked your watch. You ran right into this guy and fell on your butt, all the papers you were carrying flew out of your arms and were now spread everywhere. You cursed, of course this had to happen the one day you needed to be there for an exam.
- I'm sorry - you said without looking at the guy, scrambling to get your papers as fast as you could. He crouched and started gathering the papers, you seemed to be in a hurry and he felt bad because he didn't see you coming either. No, I'm sorry, I didn't see you - he said in a soft, sweet voice. You looked up to see who that voice belonged to and he gulped afraid you'd recognize him despite the hoodie covering his head and the face-mask. His eyes looked bright and his expression was also soothing like his voice.
- I'm late to my class - you said as you picked up the last few papers that had been blown by the wind behind him. He was secretly glad that you were oblivious to his presence. I'm sorry, can I do anything for you? - he said feeling guilty. You looked at him, what could he do. Almost positive that you were clueless, he lowered his mask and double checked. You blinked waiting for him to say something, as he was still facing you with his lips parted intently. Can I make it up to you with coffee? - he asked timidly, he didn't believe he had said that out loud. This was reckless, but it was safe because you had no idea, right?
You were caught off guard - uh, yeah, sure, why not? - you replied observing his now uncovered face, he had a nice smile too and his hair was dyed a cute shade of blonde. You scribbled your number and name on a piece of paper from your notebook and tore it out to hand it to him. I really need to go, nice to meet you, text me! - and you turned around and got off sight after only a few seconds as you turned the corner.
Jimin registered the number on his cellphone and texted you "I'm Jimin, by the way, this is my number". He figured you'd know it was him that bumped into you. He put his phone away and continued to walk back to the dance studio where he was meeting the guys, he had wanted to pick up something he was craving from a coffee shop nearby.
You agreed to meet at that same coffee shop a week later, early in the morning before he had to go to work and you had to go to class. It was a quiet family owned coffee shop that was hidden around a narrow dead end street. It looked a little scary, but it was broad daylight and you could see a friendly sign hanging from the door. You walked in and it was very homey and warm, you smiled looking around and you saw Jimin sitting on one of the tables along the opposite wall.
He waved and you bowed slightly to greet him, you turned around ready to order your coffee and have something to eat as this was going to be your breakfast. He walked over to the line - it's only fair I invite you breakfast - he said as he stood next to you. You looked at him feeling bad that he was going to pay for all of it, not just the coffee. He wanted to make it up to you so you didn't fight it - thank you, that's very kind of you. He flashed you a bright smile and you smiled back, less enthusiastically though. You felt slightly awkward meeting up with a random stranger.
You walked back to the table he had picked with your coffee and pastry in hand. You sat on the chair opposite to the wall, feeling safer than being against it and trapped on the other side. You had to be careful, looks could deceive. So, what do you do for a living? - you asked curiously trying to start some small talk to break the ice.
Um, I dance - he tried to be vague not to give himself away. Oh, that's very nice, I'm majoring to become a composer and lyricist - you replied happily that at least you'd have one thing to talk about without this being uncomfortable for both of you. Really? - Jimin said, even more shocked that you'd never heard of BTS. He wasn't full of himself, but the band was pretty well known these days and sometimes they even did commercials. He never imagined he could get this lucky at this point in their career.
You were deep in talk when Jimin heard some girls giggling, he cautiously looked at one of the windows and he could see they were looking at him. Excuse me, I'll be right back - he said escaping to the bathroom hurriedly. You looked at him funny and shrugged, the soft expression on his face had suddenly changed to a tense one - okay, take your time - you said so he wouldn't worry.
The group of girls walked in and ordered coffee, they were looking around everywhere, as if they were here searching for someone. You didn't think much of it. Once they had their hot beverages, they sat a couple of tables away, next to the window. They were whispering to each other and giggling, looking your way. You raised an eyebrow and shifted a little on your chair. Were they talking about you? You pursed your lips and looked away, just observing the details of the cafe to keep yourself busy.
You heard Jimin's name and you furrowed your eyebrows, but you didn't stop looking around not to be obvious you could hear them.
- Who is that with our mochi? - one of them said sounding offended.
- Maybe she's part of the staff, let's not jump into conclusions - another one said. Staff? What was she talking about, you thought.
- But she's dressing so casually and she has a bag, she looks like a student - a third one pointed out not being convinced.
- Maybe once he comes back we can take a picture and look her up on social media - you jerked your head back a little, why would they do that? Who are they? You started to feel really uncomfortable and thought maybe you should leave.
You felt a click and out of the corner of your eye, you could tell they had sneakily taken a photo of you. Okay, that creeped you out, you were getting out of there. You took your phone out and texted Jimin "Hey look, I'm sorry, but I have to leave. I don't want to be late to class again". You had plenty of time left, but you had a bad feeling and would rather wait around in campus.
You stood up to leave and a couple of the girls got up and headed to the door. Your eyes darted to them and then back at the baristas. It would be okay, you were not alone. You opened the door and walked back to turn the corner. Hey, you, excuse me - you froze, they were definitely talking to you, there was no one else. You kept walking - do you know Jimin personally? - they asked in a louder voice as you got away. We just want to talk - the other one shouted back.
You quickened your pace, what was going on with this guy that he had this following of weird girls. You turned the corner looking back to make sure they weren't following you and you bumped into someone. It was Jimin, you were about to say something and he motioned for you to stay silent and took your wrist. You pulled trying to get away but he gave you a pleading look.
He couldn't let you go, they had already been observing you, it was too much of a risk. He stopped a taxi a couple of blocks away. Can I take you to your class? - he said feeling a little relieved. I wouldn't feel comfortable with you going there - you said bluntly. He couldn't help but laugh at how clueless you were. He covered his mouth with his hand thinking that was probably inappropriate of him. You were dumbfounded - what are you laughing at? What do you want? - you said trying not to sound as scared as you were.
The driver looked at you two through the mirror, starting to worry a little, maybe it was just a fight between a couple, he tried to brush it off. Okay, we can go to the studio and then we go our separate ways - he said without answering, he didn't want to talk in front of the man. You arrived at Big Hit Entertainment. Does he work here? Lucky him, you thought, you'd kill to work there once you graduated. You got out of the car as soon as it stopped, Jimin hurried to pay the driver and trotted after you.
Wait, can I explain? - he said catching his breath for a second. You looked at him over your shoulder warily. We can talk inside if you'd feel more comfortable around other people - he said seeing the look on your face, you didn't feel safe and he felt bad he had dragged you into this. You reluctantly followed him inside, you were curious about the place, to be honest.
He greeted the receptionist and kept walking down the hallway. There were frames along the wall, you thought you saw one of a group of people that included Jimin. He stopped in front of a meeting room and opened the door for you. You shot him a warning look and he tried not to laugh when you turned back.
Once you sat down, he sat opposite of you and extended a hand. My name is Park Jimin - he said introducing himself, why did he feel the need to introduce himself again, but formally? You extended your hand looking at him like he was not right in the head and he giggled shaking it tightly. I'm one of the vocalists and dancers of Bangtan Sonyeondan - you were not sure what was going on.
So it was you, the one from the poster outside? - Jimin laughed and nodded. Do you know BTS? - he asked amused remembering the inner joke. That rings a bell - you said feeling a little more at ease. He pointed at the awards behind him and you got up, your mouth gaping. You looked at the display closely. There were national as well as international awards, your eyes were wide. Jimin just smiled, now standing behind you. A chuckle escaped his mouth and you turned around glaring at him.
You're a worldwide celebrity in a band? - you asked utterly shocked. He smiled a little embarrassed for some reason and nodded. I figured most people in Seoul would know by now, specially since there have been posters plastered all over town before - he said looking at the awards avoiding your gaze. I guess everything makes sense now - those girls at the cafe - you were saying as he cut you off - they were fans, yes - he finished your thought.
You were curious about him and the band now - are you a visual too? - you asked, he was surprised when you looked serious. He laughed airily and shook his head - no, not at all, of course not - he mumbled something about his height. He was average height, he was handsome and slender, not to mention his smile and those eyes were charming. You stopped yourself from deeply analyzing this guy in front of you when you noticed where you train of thought was going.
At first you figured it would be a good idea to have a contact in the studio, but with time Jimin grew on you. You saw BTS stuff everywhere now, how could you have missed it before?
