Gerard Way- Puddle Portal

Gerard's pov

"Y/n, we gotta go! It's raining like crazy!" I cried to my good friend.

"I'm coming! I'm coming!" Finally, she came out of the building, walking next to me, "Please, it's not that bad." She held a hand out as it sprinkled.

"Still, it's raining."

"But I like the rain." She smiled, I gotta get her out of here so I can ask her out... when we get to my place... I'll ask her...

"Well, I mean, I do too. I just don't like getting drenched." But then again... I'm a total fool... she won't say yes to me...

"It's just sprinkling, it was way worse earlier." As we walked, we stood at the cross walk that held a medium sized puddle in front of it.

"You're not gonna jump in it, are you?" I asked.

"Why wouldn't I?" She stepped forward, as I walked ahead. The sound of a splash came up behind me.

"Dude, you'll get completely soaked," But there was no response, "Y/n?" Turning around, she had completely disappeared, "Y/n!?" I stepped forward, just on the edge of the puddle, when a hand reached up from it, pulling me in before I could even scream. Falling through, I landed right on top of her.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry." Carefully, I climbed off.

"It's okay..." She reassured, then began looking at the strange world we had just discovered.

"Where are we?"

"I have no idea..." The sky was full of floating cotton candy clouds. The grass was greener than the prettiest of lawns. Just ahead, a castle sat, pink, and candy filled.

"Maybe we should go there."

"Yeah," She smiled, "This place is so strange..." She said, "I love it..." She giggled, looking around, "I've never seen anything like it."

"We should probably get out of here. It could be dangerous."

"Dangerous!? Gerard, we've found a world in a puddle! Aren't you curious?"

"A little..."

"Then let's go!" She began running towards the castle. What is this place?

I stood for just a moment, then, finally, I joined her. We made it to the big gates, but it seemed as if no one was home. She then knocked on the big wooden gate.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" She asked.

"I don't think anyone's home, we should go back."

"No, wait, look!" She pointed up towards a castle tower, a girl appeared to be sitting in the window. Y/n began waving her arms around, trying to get her attention. But the girl seemed distracted.

"Who do you think she is?" I asked.

"I'm not sure..." She answered, "Maybe we could climb over the gate. Are you good at climbing?"

"I dunno..." Something then caught my eye, "Wait, what's that?"

"Oh, that's a person! I think..." She began walking towards them, with me close behind.

"Hello?" She greeted, sort of. The man turned to her, it appeared that half of his face had been replaced with caramel. Woah...

"Who are you?" He asked.

"I'm Y/n, this is Gerard," I waved, "We wanna get into the castle."

"Oh, you don't wanna do that."

"Why not?" She asked.

"Because, you see this," He pointed to the caramel, "That's what happens to anyone who goes in without an invitation."

"Then, what are you doing outside it?"

"You see that girl, sitting in her window?" We both nodded, "That's the princess, she's also my love. But, the king doesn't approve of me. So, this is how we see each other." The girl waved, he waved back.

"That's so sad..."

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Oliver, and my love is Miriam. Oh, how I wish to see her again..." He spoke sadly.

"We can help you." Just then, I pulled her away.

"What are you doing? We're not even from here!"

"I know, but we can still help him."

"Y/n, we don't even know this guy!"

"So, he needs help, we're already here, so why not?" She began walking back towards Oliver, "I'm not entirely sure how, but we're gonna help you."

"Really? Oh, thank you!"

"Are you in, Gee?" I sighed.

"Yeah, I guess..." But we should really get out of here... it could still be dangerous!

"Okay, cool! What exactly do we do now?"

"Well, Miriam and I always talked about running away together. Start a life of our own. But, her father found out before we could. She doesn't want to be a princess. Arranged marriages, big dresses, and an annoying father. It's just not fit for her. As she'd say."

"Awww, that's so sweet." She cooed. It's so cute when she does that...

"Maybe we could sneak into the castle? Get Miriam, and you two could be together. Like a rescue." She explained.

"A rescue? That could work. I've just, never had anyone who'd actually help me. I'm seen as an abomination to the kingdom."

"Well, we're here now. Right, Gerard?"

"Uh, yeah, yeah..." I spoke, still unsure about it all.

"See, you can trust us." I pulled her to the side again.

"I still dunno about this. It could end badly."

"Gee, everything will be alright. Let's just help this guy, and we'll go back home. I promise." She smiled.

"Okay..."

"Oliver, how do we sneak into the castle?"

"There's a hole in the back of the wall. I used to sneak through to get to Miriam, but it's guarded now."

"Why can't they just fix it?"

"The kingdom is very poor, that's why the king wants to sell Miriam off to the elves."

"So poor they can't fix a hole? If that's true, they can't have too many guards around it." I thought, as Oliver guided us towards the hole. Immediately, he hid behind us as we were met with a pig in a guards hat.

"I don't see the guard."

"He's right there!" Oliver pointed to the pig.

"Aww, he's adorable!" Y/n bent down, petting the little dude, "So much better than his human counter parts."

"What are you doing!? He could eat you!"

"Oliver, he's a pig. I think I'll take my chances." She said, climbing through the good sized hole.

"What even caused this hole?" I asked.

"Someone thought it'd be funny to rig a cannon with cake."

"And it made this!?" I asked, sneaking through.

"Yeah... cakes are very dangerous..."

"I-" Y/n pulled Oliver and I to the side as actual guards came around.

"Did you hear something?" One asked.

"No, I don't think so." They then walked away, we all sighed in relief.

"Shhh..." She held a finger to her lips. We both nodded. Quietly, Oliver guided us through a conveniently placed castle window, where we were met with guards. But we stayed silent.

"Do you think they'll ever fix that hole in the wall?"

"Not until the princess gets married off."

"What was that boys name? The one that kept sneaking in here?"

"Oh, the idiot who's in love with the princess? He's not even a prince. He's a total fool." I took a step, creaking a floor board. They both looked to us.

"Shit," Y/n whispered.

"Hey! What are you doing!?" We all began running, not entirely sure where to, but through a hallway, and into what appeared to be a bedroom. Not the princess'...

"Those guards are right..." We both turned to him, "I'm a fool..."

"No you're not," Y/n began, "You're not a fool for feeling feelings. It's natural. And Miriam, she loves you. We can't just give up on her." Feeling feelings is natural...

"Thank you, Y/n. I won't give up. Let's go find my princess." We all quietly snuck out of the room, as Oliver guided us up through the tower. He knocked on the door.

"Oh, I can't wait to see her-" The door was open, and we were met with the king. He was fairly big with a beard and a gigantic golden crown that fit the whole king look all too well.

"Oliver, what are you doing here!?"

"I- I..."

"Oliver? Oh, my love..." She ran to the door, reaching a hand out.

"Miriam..." But the king stood in their way.

"Get out of my kingdom. You and my daughter will never be together. It was very foolish of you to come back, and with friends. Guards!" Two guards came up behind us, with a pig following them. They carried us down the steps, and locked us in cages. Separated.

"Y/n! Oh, this is bad..."

"You can say it."

"Say what?"

"I told you so."

"Y/n, I'm not gonna say that." I need to tell her... I need to...

"How are we going to get out of here?" Oliver asked.

"I dunno..." Her gaze went to the floor, tracing lines in the dirt. A guard then came in and took Oliver.

"Ah! Help, friends, please!" He cried, but we couldn't do a thing.

"Great, now we've fucked up his life." She said, leaning up against the cage wall, shared with mine as well. I leaned against it too.

"Y/n, I need to tell you something."

"What? Now you're gonna say it?"

"No, not at all. I..." Nervously, I began playing with my fingers, "Well... we've known each other for awhile. And, I just, I love you. I love you so much, and, I was gonna ask you out tonight. But, then we got into this mess. Anyways, I just think you're amazing..." Please say something...

She smiled, and held a hand to the cage, where mine rested.

"I love you too. And, I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For dragging you into this. Whatever it even is."

"Don't be, I've had fun..."

"Really? But..."

"Yeah, I really have. We met a guy with caramel in his face! And snuck through a castle, got chased by guards! Oh, and the best part, I got to do it with you." She smiled.

"Now we might die. I'm sure Oliver didn't make it." Just then, there was a tap from the little window above our cages.

"Hey! Psst! Hey!"

"Oliver!?"

"And Miriam!"

"Thank you, thank you so much for giving me the courage to finally do this. I escaped the guard, and found her. We must go now, but-"

"Wait, can't you help us?"

"I dunno... I can try, but there's no guarantee..." They then ran off, leaving us behind. Just then, she began to cry.

"Y/n..." I desperately tried to comfort her through the bars.

"We're not even from here! I never should've dragged you into this. I should've left this place alone..."

"No, we helped someone! We did a good thing!" This is so weird... usually, she's the one cheering me up...

"Oh Y/n... I'm sorry I took so long."

"What?" She asked, softly.

"I've been wanting to tell you for so long. But, I took too long, and now-"

"Hey! Psst! Hey!" We turned, to see Oliver in the window once again, "I found something, here." He slid a key through the window.

"What, how?"

"Pig." Was all he said, before running off again. She then, got up, and unlocked her door.

"There's no way..." Then it unlocked mine.

"He did say they're poor, one key is easier than ten." I took her hand, wiping away her remaining tears.

"Ready?" I nodded, we snuck out the chamber, almost immediately being met with guards and pigs.

"Run." Was all I said before dashing out the castle doors, not even bothering to take in the beautiful castle scenery. We climbed up the conveniently placed vines along one of the walls. Both of us sat on top of the bright pink barrier separating the kingdom from the fields of grass.

"Hey! Get down from there."

"Okay!" We both jumped down on the other side, running to the sky puddle, and jumping through. Landing on the side walk, drenched. Almost immediately we both began to laugh.

"That was so weird!" She said through her laughs. The world seemed just as normal as we left it. Checking my watch, it seemed as if no time at all had passed while we were gone.

"Yeah, but it was amazing!" I cried, "It was all so... so... wonderful..." She stood up, helping me along with her.

"So, uhm, about what I said in the-"

Before I could say anymore, she pulled me in by the collar, slamming her lips into mine. She pulled away, smily and giggly, which in turn I was too. She took my hand, running through the rain. Happy.
